Note: Shiro took Lance and Keith (the three of them being pilots) to check on the rest of the planet and try to find civilization. If you also play a pilot, feel free to assume Shiro recruited them too! Mods said there is only nature and more nature, no other cities, so I didn't see the point of threading that out and we handwaved it. The city is where shit is going down. If an engineer wants to follow his tracker idea you can see the results here. Also feel free to use this post to threadjack if you character wants to discuss information with another!

I'm sure I'm not the only one finding this place too good to be true, am I?

Some other pilots and I took the pods and tried to find other signs of civilization outside the main city, but the rest of the planet is just wilderness. After everything we've learned about terraforming projects and Atroma, I think it'd be wise to get as much information as possible from this planet too. It looks empty, but the library is large, especially the science section, which talks about inspiration for future convenient settlements in different points of the galaxy. There's a news building too - I haven't looked deeply into it but a quick look showed me files just abruptly stop after certain date. It's a lot to go through, so we should synchronize our work: each person could go for a different section to cover more information in the least amount of time. Teamwork can always go a long way.

Has any engineer tried to track the droids? Has the planet talked to any person with the ability to listen? Abandoned cities aren't a new concept but the lack of any signs of life is incredibly eerie.

[Keith smiled a bit.]

Yeah... okay. But I've known you longer than him.

[He paused, though, at the next comment and then shrugged.]

You've had enough to worry about. Shouldn't it be like my turn or something?

You have. And yet you leave me to run alone [Well, he has Procyon, but details.] in the morning to stay in bed with him. I'm heartbroken over here, Keith.

[Obvious teasing is obvious, don't mind him. He doesn't want this conversation to turn into another chat about worry and health.]

And you haven't? It's fine, buddy. [He ruffles Keith's hair.] We've both had a lot in our minds. This works as a distraction, doesn't it?

Not every morning... [Keith rolled his eyes a little.] And I've even managed to drag him out of bed a few times to come with us, too. And Lance is not a morning person.

[Of course, Keith wasn't really much of one, either. It was just that early was a good time to get the workout done without interfering with anything else that might be going on that day.]

I guess we have... [He pushed at Shiro's hand. Stop that... he was an adult now...] Though, I don't know if this counts as something less stressful. [He honestly wouldn't be surprised if they had the rest of the team bodily dragging them out of the library by week's end... if not sooner.]

[Sounding terribly amused here:] And you are?

[It's like Keith is leaving those sentences in the open on purpose so Shiro can tease him into oblivion. Also WOW RUDE his poor hand, what did it do to you! Shiro puts a disappointed and hurt face for the sake of more teasing, and it quickly goes away when he goes back to the topic that matters.]

It's just some reading and researching. How stressful can it be? It's not even homework.

[Dammit, Keith, don't poke holes in his reasoning!]

He's worse than me. You haven't heard him whine about missing out on his beauty sleep.

[Keith shrugged.]

Look... I'm just saying... you kind of have a track record here. People worry about you.

[He looked through another book, turning pages and skimming through some general information about terraforming planets as he spoke. Then, he sighed.]

I should probably see if Pidge or Hunk can understand this one.

You guys have some weird pillow talk. [This is how close Shiro can get to a dirty joke.] Ironic, how you of all people are scolding me for my track record. [Still teasing here, not trying to argue. He's a bit amused, but also touched by Keith's worry.] Now you know how I feel whenever you go running after something with your knife in hand. I guess we're stuck in this library together, huh?

[Honestly, if he's going to be stuck here, then he's glad that he's doing it with Keith. He takes a peek at the information Keith is looking at and nods.]

You could also check with engineers in general, especially those who have been here for a while, to see if they've seen anything like it before.

Wow... like I'd tell you what we really talk about. [Seriously. That would just be too weird, and Keith was fairly certain Shiro didn't want the details.

He sighed, giving Shiro a look.] Overworking yourself to the point of passing out is definitely not the same as me running into a fight. [Not that Keith hadn't pushed himself through a fight to the point of passing out...........]

Yeah. Pretty much anyone who's got an engineer augment, I guess. They might be able to figure this out. Sorey, Sokka... Plenty of people to ask.

It's not like I want to know, Keith. [He's just joking, geez. ALSO WOW EXCUSE THAT LOOK. Shiro answers with an unamused frown.] I passed out one time and was during the beginning of a panic attack, don't start using that as some kind of average rule for me.

[AS IF FIGHTS WEREN'T MORE DANGEROUS ANYWAY.]

Agreed. People disappearing from the town in what looks like suddenly and leaving everything behind... it may be something similar to what happens in the fleet.

I'm not, but I'm still going to worry. [Angry pout turned into kicked puppy look.] I still mean it, you know. You are like a brother to me. You're the only person who never gave up on me. That means a lot... more than I can even say. If something happened... [He sighed and looked down. They've been down this road before. And he knew Shiro was trying to get him to the point where he could let go, but Keith just wasn't ready for that, yet.]

Yeah... maybe. It's worth looking into. If it's similar to people leaving the Fleet, then maybe it'll be a hint on how to get home.

[Welp. So much for not wanting this conversation to turn into another chat about worry and health. How have they even gotten to this point? Sure, they worry all the time, but now Keith is going to quite another extreme. If something happened? Geez, Shiro still remembers Matt's crying out in the comms when Keith tried to destroy that shield.

What a bunch they make.

Shiro puts his arm around Keith's shoulders and brings him close for a half hug - it's hard not to feel bad for that kicked puppy look.]

And you're the little brother I never had. I also still mean it. And as siblings, we're always going to worry about each other. But that also means we'll be there for each other, and we won't let anything happen to each other. [He ruffles Keith's hair.] So we're gonna stick together through this like Pidge on a computer at 3am, alright?

[Nevermind he always goes to drag Pidge to bed before going to sleep himself. MOVING ON.

A nod.] I hope we have some clues that may be important to us too. But if what we find is just enough to help whoever used to live here, that also matters.

[Keith let himself get pulled into the hug, leaning back against Shiro as he did, but... really? The hair ruffle? He pulled away from that, smoothing his hand through it, not that he kept it super neat anyway... but still.]

Yeah... we are.

[Keith gave Shiro a small smile in return and then nodded at the books.]

It does. There were definitely people here. We need to find out what happened to them.
