What are you looking for this time?
[May as well be useful and keep an eye out.]
no subject
How's your day been going? You ate a good lunch, right?
[It's really just casual conversation with the addition of her idly checking up on him as she might otherwise.]
There's plenty to choose from, it's a nice change of pace from the food provided on the ships.
no subject
[And he knows it's getting a bit absurd and paranoid at this point, with everyone else raiding the food supply left and right, and it's not as if the ship rations themselves aren't similarly suspicious in how they refresh themselves regularly, but- look, it's him. She should know by now.]
...It's good that everyone seems to be enjoying it, though.
[Progress, right??]
no subject
It is good. [Definitely progress. Kaname puts her hand on his arm to get his attention.]
After this, we're getting some food. Good food, not the ship stuff. I won't take no for an answer.
[She looks at him a little expectantly.]
no subject
don't look at him like that
Messer doesn't need to return the look for his internal conflict to be pretty obvious.]
...I suppose no one's died from eating it yet.
[Don't shame him for his caution, Kaname!! It's not a no, though.]
no subject
[Despite his very obvious inner battle, Kaname remains smiling, almost amused by it. Almost.]
Admittedly, it tasted fine to me, too. [Any scolding or look of disapproval Messer might send her way is cut short by a triumphant exclamation from the redhead.]
Here we are.
[In front of a men's clothing store.]
no subject
...Kaname.
[His tone says it all: what. what are you doing. why.]
no subject
Have you gotten anything for yourself yet?
[Because really.]
no subject
[He sounds a bit reluctant to admit it; he knows he's already doomed, and he's damning himself further with this. They are going shopping for him and there's nothing he can do about it.]
no subject
Oh look, t-shirts. She pulls a dark green one off the shelf and turns to hold it out to him.]
How about this?
no subject
It's... fine.
[IT'S NOT HIS STYLE AT ALL]
no subject
Then you pick something out.
no subject
and a little embarrassing]no subject
She offers him a dark blue long sleeved shirt with a hopeful look.]
Is this better?
no subject
Thank you, it's perfect.
no subject
I think there are some shoes in the back corner, too. Maybe some boots.
no subject
I'm used to spending most of my time in uniform, you know. I don't need much variation.
[If he has too many clothes then he'll have to pick daily outfits... please spare him.]
no subject
I do know of course, but you don't have it here right now. It might be a chance to discover some new things.
[Things that he likes. Since he can't do that at home anymore. Weh.]
no subject
honestly it was a lucky guess]That's fair.
[He's not even really arguing, as evidenced by his begrudging cooperation; it's true that it would be inconvenient to have a limited closet or be forced to wear those itchy basic jumpsuits. Back home he had multiple copies of his uniform for daily use, so at the very least he ought to have the same amount of clothing here.]
Be sure to get what you want, as well.
no subject
Don't worry about me, I've been good with stocking up. We're focusing on you today.
[As uncomfortable as that might make him, Kaname knows it's needed. And that he'll go along with it at her request, as manipulative as it sounds. Joining him over by the shoes, the singer watches him.]
It's fun. I'm happy to do this.
no subject
[Hard to argue with that, so he doesn't bother trying. Her happiness is what ultimately matters to him, after all. Instead he crouches down to examine the selection of shoes and boots, taking a bit of extra time for not just the overall functionality of his options but also the style, what might go with what she's suggested for him already. He's no expert in fashion, but there are a couple of options that stick out to him as pretty sharp, so after a moment he lifts a pair of sturdy, shining black boots.]
These?
no subject
[It's a joke, of course. Even if Messer wanted to, which he'd never, there's only so much storage space to hold such things.
Kaname crouches down beside him to get a closer look, giving him a smile before she focuses on the boots he's selected.]
They're nice... a little more upscale than I've seen you wear. [A nod.] But they're just as functional, aren't they? A perfect fit, I'd say.
no subject
[Because it's not like he goes out or anything, god no, but even back on Ragna he had a nicer set of clothes in case they needed to get formal for whatever reason. Espionage in various situations was in the job description.]
no subject
[A thoughtful hum can be heard as she stands back up to look around.]
A winter jacket or two would be good. We've been to a few colder planets already...
no subject
With everything free here, I may as well collect a full wardrobe for all seasons. Even if they're never used, better to have than not... waiting would be a drain on funds I'm not likely to have later.
[He's got no illusions of his entertainment capabilities on a reality show that apparently revolves around interpersonal drama. Why did they pick him to be here, exactly?
Not that he's complaining, but. It's weird as heck.]
