A - Shopping!

[Yes, the place is disturbing. But she doesn't think the food is poisonous, and there's just too much variety here to pass up. Find Nami weaving her way in and out of the fresh produce shops, stuffing her backpack and a couple of baskets full of fresh fruit and vegetables to back up to the Bloodsport. Following in her wake is Biri, also known as a giant peacock duck hybrid chocobo wannabe, and she has no qualms about loading him up with her bags. She also raids the gardening stores when she finally comes across them of any seeds that look viable.]

B - Wavering!

[To make up for using Biri as a pack mule, she finds the nearest lake. It's probably a fair distance out of town, but other explorers might come upon the sight of a girl in a bikini flying across the water on what honestly looks to be a jetski made out of a rowboat. It's going at least as fast as one, anyway.  Biri's out here, stretching his wings, a yellow blur of a bird keeping up as they tear around the lake.  It's all in the name of freedom and having fun and not thinking about things.

[You could be forgiven for thinking Nami isn't taking this place seriously and instead treating it like a vacation spot.  Well, yes and no.  She has her reasons.]

So what do you think the chances are that this place was constructed as a beginning to colonize this planet, but then the people evacuated?   Something went wrong, or some disaster happened, or whoever was in charge of the money decided it just wasn't viable. 

I think the food is okay.  I'm going to take advantage and get us a lot more variety of fruit and vegetables growing in the gardens.  If you're up for a project and aren't too nervous about it, I'd appreciate some help.  Just as long as everything we grow doesn't taste like citrus, I guess. 

[She hopes.  Her favourite fruit is mikan, but that doesn't mean she wants everything to taste like mikan.]

...speaking of which, picked up some liquor for people willing to give it a try.  It also tastes a little like oranges, but it'll knock you for a six.  Best of both worlds.  Catch it at your local Space Bar.

Good evening, Nami. [she sets a small bag on the counter] You mentioned fruits and vegetables for the garden, so here is a start for you.

[Nami's smile brightens, reaching for the bag with a brief pause as if to say may I?]

I think we could all benefit from having a constant source of good food! Assuming it all grows well. [And, y'know, there's nothing wrong with it. She isn't completely nonchalant about this weird place.]

Some of them, yes. I have been gathering them from the different places we've stopped. If someone can do it without magic, that would be wonderful.

I can try. I mean, I grew up in an orchard, so I know my way around gardening, but soil varies from place to place. I picked up a few bags from the town here, so anything I could find on this planet should be fair game. [And it's a wide variety.]

You've never gardened, I take it?

An orchard? Goodness.

[she shakes her head] I have gardened, but not the . . . traditional way, no. I have a number of plants in my room, but I use magic to sustain them most of the time.

Well, whatever tools work. If you ever wanted to learn the more hands-in-the-dirt way, I'd be happy to teach you.

I have a vague idea of how to do it, my mother tried to teach me years ago. I've just never bothered, as there was no opportunity to use it.

In my experience, it's a useful fall back. Especially if the Marsiva suddenly stops providing for us. Which I woudn't put it past them one day.

[She fishes up two shot glasses from behind the bar and flips them over once before setting them down.]

Oh - yes, please. I'd almost forgotten in light of our discussion about gardening.

[only almost, though. Tempest never forgets about drinking]

Key word being 'almost'. [She grins, and pours two shots, nudging one to slide across the bar to Tempest.]

Give it a try. There's citrus in the aftertaste, but not too cloying.

[she picks up the glass with a murmured thanks, raising an eyebrow]

Citrus? Like the other food? [a shrug] That is not so bad in liquor, yes? Shall we toast to something?

Yeah. It complements liquor, not so much some of the other foods. [Like poor Freyja and her apples.]

...hmm. I could toast to limitless free liquor, but that seems too easy. It's a start, though, right? [She lifts her shotglass.] Unless you have something else in mind.

Mm, definitely not the other foods. [she mostly eats veggies and it's such a weird thing to her]

That is certainly something worth toasting to. [she shrugs] I cannot think of anything, honestly.

Bottoms up, then.

[Cheers. Down the hatch it goes.

Right? It's not the strongest we have, but it's easier going down. Acceptable compromise.

It's gonna be pretty limitless for a while, too. [Grin.] I think I can stock my entire back room with the stuff before we head out.
