[Yes, the place is disturbing. But she doesn't think the food is poisonous, and there's just too much variety here to pass up. Find Nami weaving her way in and out of the fresh produce shops, stuffing her backpack and a couple of baskets full of fresh fruit and vegetables to back up to the Bloodsport. Following in her wake is Biri, also known as a giant peacock duck hybrid chocobo wannabe, and she has no qualms about loading him up with her bags. She also raids the gardening stores when she finally comes across them of any seeds that look viable.]

B - Wavering!

[To make up for using Biri as a pack mule, she finds the nearest lake. It's probably a fair distance out of town, but other explorers might come upon the sight of a girl in a bikini flying across the water on what honestly looks to be a jetski made out of a rowboat. It's going at least as fast as one, anyway.  Biri's out here, stretching his wings, a yellow blur of a bird keeping up as they tear around the lake.  It's all in the name of freedom and having fun and not thinking about things.

[You could be forgiven for thinking Nami isn't taking this place seriously and instead treating it like a vacation spot.  Well, yes and no.  She has her reasons.]

So what do you think the chances are that this place was constructed as a beginning to colonize this planet, but then the people evacuated?   Something went wrong, or some disaster happened, or whoever was in charge of the money decided it just wasn't viable. 

I think the food is okay.  I'm going to take advantage and get us a lot more variety of fruit and vegetables growing in the gardens.  If you're up for a project and aren't too nervous about it, I'd appreciate some help.  Just as long as everything we grow doesn't taste like citrus, I guess. 

[She hopes.  Her favourite fruit is mikan, but that doesn't mean she wants everything to taste like mikan.]

...speaking of which, picked up some liquor for people willing to give it a try.  It also tastes a little like oranges, but it'll knock you for a six.  Best of both worlds.  Catch it at your local Space Bar.

That's my theory. I mean, it makes sense, right? With everything we already know about teraformers and everything else. Maybe this is a place where teraforming itself worked, but something else went wrong after.

I absolutely want to try the booze orange juice.

It would fit with a lot of the other terraformed places. Look at all the ones where people are sick, or something poisonous has happened below ground.

...I think I'll have to come up with a better name than "booze orange juice". [Grin.]

No. I wonder if it's the Atroma's way of saying look, it could be worse. But... if it is to do with terraforming, I can't find any evidence. I have no idea what we're supposed to do.

...I don't know. I'm good at drinking drinks, not naming them. Maybe Fenris or Sam will have a better idea.

Stronger than our average. The stuff we picked up a good year ago is still a whole lot stronger, but that's generally for people with ridiculous tolerance.

I do not know if my tolerance counts as "ridiculous" but it is quite high.

I think we could all benefit from having a constant source of good food! Assuming it all grows well. [And, y'know, there's nothing wrong with it. She isn't completely nonchalant about this weird place.]

[How can anyone pass up free food? Even if he could afford things on a normal day, he can't say no to free. He is definitely taking advantage and picked up some things to possibly make for his crew.

That is until he suddenly pauses, distracted by the creature alongside of Nami.]

What... what kind of bird is that? It's the biggest one I've seen!

[Nami glances over and grins suddenly. What's up, my fellow stylish redhead.]

This is Biri! [On introduction, the bird in question flaps a wing up almost like he's trying to salute. Kwaa!] He's one of a kind. Friend from home.

[He chirps, clasping his hands together excitedly as he watches Biri.]

People here sure do have interesting pets! I think that might be one of my favorite things about this place!

Well, it's important to find some benefits of being stuck here. [But the tone is dry, not bitter. She could have far worse than the Fleet.

Nami reaches out to scratch under Biri's beak.] It's just nice to see a friendly face. Watch out, though, he tends to excite easily.

I agree! I couldn't have pets back home, so it's nice having them here!

[He laughs, thinking about the pets on board the Twin Roses.]

Vash complains that we have too many, but I don't mind it.

It should do. I've had other soldiers in before, but if you've got a particularly high tolerance I've got some older alcohol that kicks like a horse.

Reassuring but still creepy. Like if it was the Atroma, I wonder if this was some kind of original test run. Or it was for an earlier season. Or it's going to be for a later season and they're just checking up on the place.
