Waking up on the Marsiva

[Manji awakens with a start and falls out of the welcome bunk with a shout.]

RIN! I’M COMING!

[The slam on the floor is what first helps him realise that he’s not where he was before. There wasn’t nearly enough snow.] Where the hell am I? [His voice is gruff and angry. He is in no mood for games as he strides down the hall, a surly, scarred man in a black and white kimono. Missing an arm doesn’t make him any less intimidating.] Where am I? Who is responsible for this!? SHOW YOURSELF!

[Rin was freezing somewhere! He didn’t have time for being out among the stars! He needed to--- wait, did he just pass a window with nothing but stars outside?

He stops and trails back to stare dumbly at the window.] Oh… [Well, that’s different.]


”Accidental” Video - Open to All

[Sometime after Manji and Makie are reunited and have gotten past that whole: My boss wants me to kill your boss thing - oh, god please don’t hurt me Makie awkwardness, the video feed on Manji’s device is turned on-- only the video is very shaky and being filmed upside down.

And there’s a very “mansplainy” voice being broadcast out to everyone.] --and that’s how that works. At least I think it works that way. Now this thing! [The camera is given a vigorous shake.] I’ll be honest. I’m not really sure what this thing is for. I just found it. It’s very loud. Kind of annoying, really.

[A slender hand reaches into view briefly, and then the communicator is carefully set the right way up. Makie stares down at it briefly, then retreats out of sight to leave Manji staring blankly in her wake.]

Eh? What’d you do that for? [He hasn’t figured out he’s broadcasting yet, but he has figured out one thing.]

Wait. Do you know what this is? [He shakes the camera in Makie’s direction, sounding completely shocked.

Makie...just stares at him. Predictably.]

(OOC: In the video you may get Manji or Makie. If you want just one or the other please let us know! If you want them both in an action thread just let us know otherwise it will just be Manji on action.)

Let's see then. [Manji stands motionless for a bit with a shit eating grin on his face. Clearly not even trying.] Nope. Doesn't look like I can. [Therefore she's a witch! But she seems like a nice witch so he won't say that out loud.]

She turns to continue to stream some water out of the cup and into the bracelet.]

[As she starts up again Manji steps a bit closer to get a better look.] I dunno. We have nothing like that from my home.

[Since it doesn't feel like he's being threatening, Katara doesn't mind him coming closer. She doesn't mind talking about waterbending, she never has because:] It's an important part of our culture, back home.

[Glancing at him.] Where are you from?

I thought it might have, but I wasn't sure!

Edo. [He doesn't offer Japan or Earth because he assumes Katara should know where Edo is.] Where is back home for you? [Some sort of westerner?]

[Yeah, she has... no idea what that is, so she assumes it's just another world.] I'm from the Southern Water Tribe. My name's Katara. [Glance back at him as she finishes bending the water into the small bottle and then refastens the lid.] What's yours?

Never heard of it. [But he happily accepts there's much he doesn't know or heard of before.] It's Manji.

[He peers into the empty cup.] So where'd you get the water in the first place? [As if he is going to be stuck here for a bit knowing where to get water and food is important.]

I didn't think you would have. [Wait, Katara, that's rude.

...well, apparently, she's not going back on it, just explaining it:] Everyone from my home world knows what bending is. And there's a cafeteria just that way, if you're hungry. [Pointing helpfully.] We might be here for a few days, but hopefully we'll be shuffled to the smaller ships soon.

[She can see her BROTHER /wibble.]

Great. More ships. What difference does it matter which one we're stuck on? [He peers in the direction that she points. Filing that important information away.] Either way we're still stuck out in space.

[She gives him a dour look.] I'm not saying that it will get us home, or anything, but getting off here does give us other alternatives. My brother is on one of the ships; I want to see him. And -- have you looked out the window?

[Because. Planet.]

[Briefly, but it freaked him out so he didn't look to closely. Not that he would admit to that.] I guess having a brother on a different ship is a decent reason to get off this one.

I'd say so. [She is antsy to get to see him.] Besides, there's a planet down there.

[And she doesn't want stay on these ships if there's a chance for earth and sky and water around her.]

Yeah? [Just seems like a long way to fall to him. He's not looking forward to it. Of course he won't admit that out loud so he changes the subject instead.] How long has your brother been stuck here for?

[Katara glances away, frowning slightly.] Three and a half years. [Which doesn't really make any sense, but she's learned that these places don't have to.] ...there's a lot to catch up on.

[canofmanji]

Three years?! And he's still stuck here!? [No, no, no, no! He can't be stuck here that long! What if time doesn't really stand still here!?]

[She hates to be the bearer of bad news, so she just nods.

What else is there to say, really? This is awful.]

Shit. [That's all he can really say.]

I heard that time doesn't move back where we're from. Do you know if your brother can confirm this?

I haven't asked him about that, specifically. I do know that I never knew he'd been taken. And that it worked that way in the place I was before this. So... [She gives him a small smile.] There's not much point in worrying about it anyway, right? We can't control it. We just have to do our best to live while we're here and get home as soon as we can.

[canofmanji]

Tck. If I don't get home, that Rin girl I mentioned earlier? She's going to die and not in any sort of quick or very pleasant way. [Because the one thing he knows about Shira for certain is that he's a bastard who likes to torture.] You want to tell me again that there's no point in worrying?

I'm sorry I didn't say that very well. You have every reason to be concerned about your friend. I'm not telling you not to be upset, and I'm not telling you not to work with everything that you have to find an opportunity to get home as soon as possible. [Take a breath.] What I meant by saying that was to say was that being occupied with what we can't control can take our focus away from what we can control - being alive here, and trying to find a way back.

Yeah, well, I will figure my way out of here and back one way or another. I don't see any point wasting time on much else.

[Basically: I'm not here to make friends.]

[She remembers how she felt when she first arrived in Luceti. She can't hold this against him. She wishes there was a more immediate solution, but... weary experience lets her know otherwise.]

I hope you find it quickly. [She glances from him out into the void. Stars. More quietly:] I hope we all do.

Yeah. [He agrees before following her gaze outside.]
