Um...not really, sorry. [Scratches the back of his head sheepishly] A lot of us are already pretty accomplished fighters...and I haven't heard of anybody within the Fleet starting trouble on other ships.

Hey, don't be sorry. I don't care if I have to do my job or not. [and at the very least, he's glad the kids here can defend themselves] There's an armory or something, though, right? Just in case?

Oh yeah, it's, [Sorey jogs over to the doorway to point down the hall for Ben to see,] down that way, three doors to the left. The bigger weapons in there will be locked up, but you should have access to it since you're security.

[Ben leans back to peer down the hallway, then nods] Okay, cool. I could probably figure out the rest. [...] Anything else I should know? Since you're answering questions still.

Uhhh, hm. [Taps his chin in thought.] There's a few recreational rooms on the Iskaulit that might interest you...and a library, but there's really only texts from people's homes there. The food in the kitchens is mostly this stuff that comes from the machines? But we have good water here, doesn't taste weird like it does on other ships.

We can sometimes get fresh food when we stop places and I make jerky from game animals, so if you ever want any just let me know. We can work out a trade if you'd like, too. [Like Sorey would get it for free but considering Ben makes this shit-smelling face whenever Sorey mentions friendship or help, he has the feeling an offer to trade might go further.]

[lmao dude] All sorts of stuff. This one guy once traded me like, a whole box of this stuff called 'duct tape' for a bunch of jerky and dried fruit. So worth it. I love duct tape. [don't look too closely at some of those hoses ben]

Duct tape's good shit. Wonder if I can find any down on the planet - I'll totally trade some of that for jerky. [don't look too close at his arm either]

[Ben follows after, all previous annoyance forgotten in light of JERKY] How'd you learn how to make it? Is it like - something everyone knows where you're from, or a hobby you picked up?

Oh uhhh, I was kind of raised up in the mountains? So I ended up learning it just to be self-sufficient. My family taught me how. [This and boar stew is like the only 2 things he knows how to cook so don't be impressed]

Huh. [he is totally impressed, anything that isn't "future bullshit" impresses him] Must be a pretty useful skill, right? At least, for trading for shit up here.

Yeah, turns out to be really good here! Since we can sometimes go a few weeks or even months between places that have fresh food we can eat. [He goes all mountain man every time there's game around] There's another guy in the Fleet who does it too, his name's Sokka. [AH HA, at his quarters which is pretty much just a storage room.]

Months? Holy shit. [he makes a face] If you've got a crock pot up here, that's good for making a bunch of food that lasts a while. Not as long as dried stuff, but. [why is your room just for storage Sorey]

A crock pot? [WHAT KIND OF AMAZING FUTURISTIC DEVICE IS THAT

Sorey drags out the jerky he has left from its place on the shelf, opening up a large leather sack to withdraw smaller bags.] Hm...so this one is red meat, pretty heavy...got it off these things that looked like prickleboars, this is goat, this...is dinosaur? Yeah, yeah this one is dinosaur.

Yeah, it's like - a big pot you can throw a bunch of stuff into and slow cook it. I'm pretty sure you can cook literally anything in it, but a lot of folks use it for stews. [he scratches at his cheek, thoughtful] Maybe this place has one and I can hook it up to show you.

[he may not look it but this disaster at least knows how to cook.

Ben peers into the room to watch curiously, eyebrows shooting up. Leather pouch and everything - totally old-fashioned, totally awesome] Dinosaur? No way.

Yeah!! [MOTHERFUCKIN DINO SAUR] That's what the wildlife book called it anyhow. It's kind of tough and takes a long time to chew, but it's really filling. Here, [and Sorey withdraws a hunting knife from a sheath at his hip, takes out a hunk of the raptor jerky and slices off a hunk before handing it to Ben.]

[he isn't one to turn down free food, but there's no way he could live with himself if he turned down dinosaur - he takes it curiously, looking it over before he takes a bite]
