Excuse me? Hello! Ah... [She was excited that she finally got her line working to the fleet, but now that she's actually addressing everyone she feels a bit nervous. But she wants to help, and that overrides any nerves that are buzzing around]

My name is Colette Brunel. I just arrived the other day, and I saw... [she pauses, worried] I saw the attack that happened. I'm sorry to ask for help at a time like this, but I'm not sure how to get off of the ship that I'm currently on. If I can leave, I'd like to come and help on the ships that were hurt.

I think-- [it feels strange to say, and doesn't quite feel real] that I understand how to fix some of those ships. I'm not sure how, but I can see some of the damage from here.

So, I hope I can help! And if there's anything that I can do in the meantime before I leave this ship, please let me know.

[mm, she nibbles a bit on her lower lip as if she's not sure if she should say more, but she'll end it there. She feels bad asking for help before she's actually helped anyone, but she has looked all over this ship and hasn't been able to find a way to leave]

You can't. Not yet. You're only permitted to leave when they allow. Someone's informed you of this, haven't they?

I might have missed it... I'm sorry. [whoops]

But once I'm allowed to leave, will I be able to travel between the ships?

[Reluctantly:] It's fine.

[It's not. He hates explaining this junk. Deep breath.] Once you leave, you'll have the freedom to move, yes. You'll be assigned to a crew and have access to a shuttle for transportation. You'll be able to help to your heart's content then.

[she doesn't know him well enough to know exactly what he's feeling, but she knows suppressed stress when she sees it. She nods...]

Okay, thank you. [she pauses.... She knows the sentiment of what she wants to say, but not how to say it] Will you be safe in the meantime?

Of course. [A bit overconfident there, bud. But! His tone softens.] I don't suppose you could answer my initial question from just the visuals? I'm... we're at a bit of a loss as to what to do. Where to start.

[sooooooo much is broken. sooooooooooooo much.]

Mm... [she leans closer to the display to really concentrate]

That thing on the front-- [she points... but then realizes that's not helpful] The big panel that's nearly fallen off.

It looks really heavy! If it's left on like that it might hurt the panels that it's attached to. Maybe a good place to start would be taking off outside panels that are barely attached.

Huh. [That's... actually good advice. Color him impressed. He chuckles. Never should judge a book it's cover, huh.] Very well. Thank you... Colette, was it?

[He spins the camera so it faces him and smiles.] It's a pleasure to meet you. My name is Mattias. Once you get off the ship, I'd like for you to assess the ship in person. If that's alright.

Mm hm, it's nice to meet you too Mattias.

I'd be happy to come see what I can do! I'm also a little bit stronger than I look, so I might be able to help with some of the heavy lifting. [he's smiling... But he still seems so stressed. She kind of tries to sound a bit sunnier, anything that she can do to give some extra confidence that things will be alright]

Oh, really?

[Seriously, who can resist Colette? Even he's starting to warm up to her, though it's more the picture of her lifting heavy objects than the aggressive cheerfulness. Again, he chuckles.] Well, now you'll have to come. I simply can't forgo seeing that.

[hehe, she hopes so, at least. So she keeps rolling with it]

And, um... I have wings too! I can probably reach the top of the ship and look there too... [she pauses a bit at the beginning because, well... she's had time to live with wings but they still make her feel alien. But she wants to seem helpful and impressive, so she's going forward with it none the less]

Wings? [Oh, now that has his attention.] Are you not human?

Yes, I'm human! [she tries to say it confidently, but there's a tiiiiny lilt of not-being-sure there on the end]

It's all a little complicated, but I have a special crystal that gave me wings.

[but colette he loves complicated. he'll try not to sound disappointed.]

So a type of magic, then?

Sort of. It's more like... [ah... she holds up her hands in an awkward way as she tries to think of a way to talk about it. Something that she's not quite comfortable with, combined with the fact that explaining things isn't her greatest talent makes this hella awkward]

It's a stone that unlocks someone's inner talents and lets them fight to the best of their true ability! There are lots of stones like this where I come from, but the one I have is a little different. It... changes the person who wears it, and gives them other special powers like wings!

[There's a sharp pang of fear at the word "changes" and it takes a significant amount of self-control not to inquire about it further. But, for once, he can hear the discomfort in her voice. He knows not to push.

Hopefully, it's just paranoia anyway.]

I see. Well, it seems you certainly lucked out with your power. I can think of many a man that would wish to fly. May I ask what it's like?

[she can't quite see the source, but she can see that he's troubled by something. She also doesn't pry, not when she has a question to answer, but she is curious]

It's wonderful. Although... I'm really clumsy, so I try not to fly in ways that are too dangerous, but it's beautiful.

I could-- [ah... although as the words spill out, she realizes it could be an awkward thing to offer] I mean, if you want to, I could probably take you out flying a little bit? I've carried someone before and helped them feel like they were flying... It was fun!

[it takes everything in him to remain composed]

I-Yes! Yes, I would love that! But, ah. Would you be able to carry me for certain? I suspect I'm a fair amount larger than you. I wouldn't want you to get hurt.

Mm...I think so! Unless, are you a lot heavier than you look?

[he doesn't look particularly thin, but doesn't look particularly beefy either. Regal was easily buffer than this dude, so she hopes it won't be too hard. AND AWKWARD CONVERSATION? COLETTE SEES NOTHING AWKWARD... OR WEIRD... ABOUT... THIS.... hahahahaha]

Does your stone give you enhanced strength as well? Forgive me for saying so but you hardly look capable of lifting a grown man. I'm somewhat skeptical.

That's okay, it is a little weird... But you're right! Because of it, I'm stronger, and even some of by senses are better.

[haha, that embarrassment that has been creeping up is starting to show] Um.. I'm sorry I've been talking so much about myself.

It's alright. I've only asked. Though, perhaps that's unfair of me. It'd be a shame for our conversation to be so unequal.

[He shifts, leaning forward and I forget if this is video so maybe she sees that.] Have you any questions for me?

[Oh! She's always... curious. About the stories of other people. So she looks a bit surprised, and while she didn't have any questions originally, endless questions begin to pop to mind one after the other.]

Yes! If it's okay.

[She doesn't notice it, but she mirrors his movement and leans forward a bit as well, resting her chin in her hands] You said that your name is Mattias... do you have a last name?

[He laughs.] Is that your question?

[His laugh dies out to a fond smile. Fingers tap at his cheek.] I do. It's Larnaca. Ask me another. That one was too simple.

[hehe, this is nice, he's nice. She smiles and nods, glad that he has permission to ask more]

Where do you come from? I've heard... that everyone here is from really different worlds? [the idea is amazing to her. Her horizon was so expanded when they discovered Tethe'alla... the idea that there are uncounted worlds with even more people living on them is mind-blowing to her in the best way]

Where I come from? [He eyes soften but it's unclear if it's due to wistfulness or sorrow.] It's a lonely place. A neverending desert cursed by a persistent sun. [He inhales, bracing himself for the concept most people here seem to struggle with.] We've no night. No cold, no stars. Simply the sun and clouds.

I fear most people here would find it a dreary place.
