[A beautiful looking face appears on the screen. He seems to be tapping his lips with one long nail and there are parts of his features that seem almost...birdlike. When he realizes he's correctly started this, he smiles.]

My name is Kogarasumaru. It would seem I am far away from citadel and my children though I wish to still offer my greetings this day. Or perhaps evening? Such confusing times when the sky remains dark and full of stars.

[He bows his head politely in greeting.]

I hope to get along well with all of you here. This father will work hard to aid you.

[He smiles pleasantly then ends the broadcast.]

SS Caprine

[Kogarasumaru arrives on the ship he is now assigned to and looks up as the confetti falls. Lifting a piece out of his hair, he smiles at it then looks about the area that he's in. So this is the place he is to stay while he is here? Certainly less comfortable than the citadel or even the fine Imperial settings he was once stored in.

Ah but he doesn't mind that so much. Instead, he lightly starts to walk further into the ship. So feel free to run into him there.

Otherwise he will likely go exploring the rest of the SS Caprine. It really wouldn't hurt to know this layout, after all.]

A sword?

[Oddly he only sounds mildly surprised]

There was another who said he was a sword before. Doudanuki?

He is one of my children.

[He smiles so proudly.]

I had heard he was captain of this ship. Though it is a shame I missed him this father is honored to live on the ship he once led.

I see.

[Geeze this was stranger now. How did a sword have a son?]

He was. He was the first captain I've had here. I felt he was a good man.

He has a good heart. It pleases me he was able to share that with you.

[Then he laughs gently.]

I sense you have questions on your own heart. You may ask whatever they are and I will find no offense in them.

Alright. I never received an answer before. How does a sword become human? And how does a sword have a family?

[Yes, these were important questions]

We are not human at all. We are tsukumogami. Our forms may look human but we certainly are not this. As for how a sword can have a family, I would believe anyone can. Blood does not create family even if it often is the result. Some swords are brothers for they have the same maker. Others are so because they have been brought together through history.

We define what makes as family rather than the will of others.

I see. I can't say I have ever heard of a tsukumogami before, but I'm sure it safe to assume I've never met one before meeting your... son.

[He was quiet for a moment at the comment about family. It was almost as though this thought had never really occurred to him]

I suppose we do pick our families.

A tsukumogami is an object that gains a soul after one hundred years of existing. It was the saniwa who gave us this forms so we might be able to fight more easily.

[It feels like each answer has another question to go with it...]

Who are the saniwa?

Mm. A saniwa would be something like a specialized priest in the Shinto religion.

I see.

[Well, he still didn't know about "Shinto" but having the information that it was a religion told him enough. Details were not critical to understanding that]

So you existed for 100 years before gaining a soul and turning to this form?

No. I gained this form many, many years after I obtained a soul.

So you were a sword with a soul prior to gaining this form?

[There really was so much about these different worlds than he ever would have guessed]

Do you know how many like you there are?

That is correct.

[He pauses a moment...]

Do you mean how many tsukumogami there are in my own world? That would be difficult to say as I have not met them all.

Hmm... I suppose it would, given the situation. This is not something I ever heard of where I am from. I'm sure though there would be others curious about it as well.

[And then because he should probably explain that]

I am part of a group called the Blade of Marmora. As the name implies, we are all masters of the blade.

Ah but tsukumogami are not a group. They are a race so to speak. They can be any object so long as it has been around for one hundred years. It just happens that swords are one of the best for combat against evil and so our master called upon us.

Any object that has been around one hundred years? Yes, I would imagine a sword would be better for that then a lot of other objects.

Yes. We have a natural gift for battle compared to other objects.

I agree. That is why we choose to use them as well for our order.
