[It had hardly taken long to piece it together. He woke up alone, without the warmth of another person nearby. Opening his eyes revealed that the room was back to the size it had been before they'd merged their quarters and the bed really only had enough room for him and the three sleeping snow kittens.

It didn't matter that all of Wolfe's things were still littered around the room, what mattered was the absence of the man himself. He rarely left in the morning without telling Anders something.

He didn't even bother checking to see if he could send a message to Hawke once Anders spotted the ring he had offered Hawke nearly two weeks ago.

It took him a moment to gather himself, but, quietly, he did and checked the communicator just to make sure. How silly of him to even feel surprised or expect anything different.]

To those that knew him, Adalwolfe Hawke is no longer on the fleet.

It appears the same is true of Marian Hawke.

If anyone has any business left unsettled with either of them, please feel free to let me know and I will do my best to help.

[It hadn't taken long to find both missing when he tried to send a message to 'Hawke' and found no Hawkes listed in the fleet. He'd quickly followed up with checking some of the others as well, but it seemed most of everyone was still around. Mostly. Everyone from Kirkwall was gone except him.

He hesitated before adding:]

Fenris is gone as well.

[He can't be certain if there is any resentment hidden in those words, though he wouldn't entirely fault Anders were that the case.]

It wasn't an exclusive offer. He had more of a scholars mind that he gave himself credit for, and saw the same in myself, I imagine. Regardless, it was the least I could do.

I didn't mean to imply it was.

[Though, he could see where that would come across.]

He's always been that way, had he been subject to traditional education in magic, he would have excelled and put all others to shame, I have no doubt. He didn't, however, and it never made him less for it, but he thought he was.

I suspect this is why he went to you, his knowledge gaps embarrassed him at times and he felt self-conscious approaching me. I mean it when I say I appreciate there was someone willing to help him.

[Maker, he didn't mean to say all that, but he was saying it anyway. He wouldn't take it back. Let it be immortalized here; should Wolfe come back and find Anders airing some secrets, maybe he'll finally believe Anders' sentiment is genuine that he never thought Wolfe's skill with his gift any 'less' than Anders' own.]

I tried to tell him something similar. And if I'm being honest, I am not nearly as well educated as I might seem. But still, I stand by my statements and I'm glad you feel the same.

In any case, if you need a quiet place to think, the study is always open and rarely used

[He'd offer the man a drink, but he suspects Anders is neither bereft of those offers from other people in the fleet nor close enough to him to take him up on it if he had. Mentioning the lounge was his next best option.]

[He actually appreciates that what's offered isn't a drink. He appreciates those too, but Anders was, at the end of the day, not especially social if not in the mood for it. A quiet study sounded nice. It reminded him of the hours he'd spent in Wolfe's study in the Amell estate, working into the late morning hours on his manifesto until Hawke came to collect him.

He hadn't really had the chance to enjoy such a place since he'd decided to burn his life's work. It would be nice to enjoy such a space again.]

I greatly appreciate the offer. I will ensure it's used more often, thank you.

[Contrary to his usual habit, alcohol did not solve all of ones problems, and sometimes it was better to be alone. When things were bad, he would often retreat to quiet places where he could gather himself. That Anders might need the same seems right, in some way.]

[He didn't want to waste the man's time when he might simply be trying to show a kindness, but Anders wanted the distraction and the fact it wasn't alcohol made it appealing in it's uniqueness. Hopefully he wouldn't be imposing too much on the other mage's time with his curiosity.]

I will, though, I do have to wonder what kind of differences there might be. Your schools of magic from home, do you have books like that in your study?

[Curiosity in one thing that never bothers Felix, so his only misgiving is that he doesn't have a more satisfactory answer to the problem]

Not in the study, no. I only have two books from home, and only one of them is on thaumaturgical theory of any kind, but I could lend it to you if you liked.

I would like, yes, if you're alright with it. My friend, Hermione, and I traded lessons and stories on how our magic worked, it's similarities and differences. At least, when she was here. I'm curious to know what other things are different from each world.

As am I. And I would be happy to provide the same in her place, if you'd like.

In the meantime, you're welcome to the book. It's not of my school, but I've found it useful regardless.

I would like, actually, if you're interested. Magical theory is fascinating on it's own, with another to bounce ideas off of, it's even better.

Ah. Well, it's Cabaline, which wouldn't mean anything to you, I suspect. Schools where I come from are more a matter of philosophy than the types of spells we learn, though we do tend to have specialties based on that philosophy.
