[First Breath]

[...She'd had barely enough time to examine the Marvisa after her disoriented waking up, in an attempt to figure it out before she found herself on the bridge of The First Breath instead. Cloaked and hooded of course, eyes glowing a bright yellow as her gaze flits around the area, seeming altogether too tense for some supposed celebration.

The music and confetti is unamusing, of course. Haggar's first instinct is to examine the bridge, and question the first person she sees if they don't approach her first.

Otherwise most of the time she'll be poking about the rest of the ship, seeing what it has and doesn't have available, observing the other crew with some suspicion, sometimes giving withering looks to the exposed wires and pipes, and, coming across her own supposed "station", trying to compare what she knows--what she thought she knew, to the new information that she had overriding it in her brain. Disorienting. She hates it already.]



B.

[Planetside]

[ After the first few days of acclimating to the ship and the situation, as much as it displeases her, well, there's a whole unknown planet with secrets down there to explore. Or at least to study and see if it can provide any clues to anything.

Most of her time ends up being drawn to going through books in the library, and after that, briefly checking out the other areas which seem to have drawn particular extensive attention. If someone's around, she might inquire as to what their investigation showed... or simply just watch and see what she can glean from listening and observing. The old fashioned way.

She likely draws some attention, wherever she shows up, garbed up as she is. Sometimes, though, she might be distracted, trying to find places to meditate or discern the nature of the planet herself. ]



C.

[Iskaulit]

[ After doing enough examining of the planet, and finding herself tired out from the process, she decides that regrouping and learning more about the fleet itself again is the higher priority. Besides, there are some other pressing concerns she has to be wary about...

In any case, the best way to do that seems to be by examining this ship that seems to be the main area for the fleeters to gather. Too many people, frankly, most of her time is spent skulking in the shadows, observing when she can, unless she happens to get caught. Which is certainly possible. She's not infallible.

But there are other times when certain rooms catch her interest. The lecture hall, the library, the labs, those seem to be where she gravitates toward on her own, whether to read or find clues. In one instance she finds the study room, where in a point of... some agitation, she sets a few of the globes rotating all at once and glares at them. How completely unproductive. ]

[Speaking things 'true' seems to be a problem for Katie. A quirk? Who can tell.

As mundane as the little snow cat is, there's something very peaceful about all of it. Not a sensation she often has, which is strange in itself, but perhaps that's just what happens, when one is taken out of their consistently corruption-filled environment.]

Some time ago.

[Experiments and robeast fodder most likely, over the passage of years, but there might have been hints of fondness for some. Anything before that... she hardly remembers. Something about cats, though...]

Why do you ask?

You can tell a lot about a person by the pets they keep. Or the pets they don't keep. You sort of struck me as a cat person, really. Do you have cats where you come from?

[Some time ago is a sad thing. But animals don't live very long.]

[What a strange consideration. Then again, she didn't need such signs to tell her about people, no reason to explore them on a deeper level unless they were hiding important details that needed to be brought out.]

Is that so...

[There's a flicker of an echo, of a strange cat loping around in search of someone.]

They do exist, where I come from.

[Even if they haven't had them around Central Command... and the fact that she had no recollection of that particular cat in it's current form.]

[Ah. It's odd, but she's seen odder. And a cat beautifully fluffy enough she'd have reached forward to pet it if it hadn't been so fleeting.

A space cat to go with a space witch.]

They're the most odd of animals. Both eternally patient but eternally curious. And they always think you're there at their beck and call.

It's not so highly contrary a nature.

[Granted, that description could also fit her in some ways, humorously. Cat person indeed, pushing curiosity as far as she dared, patient to see what results it yielded, but yet suspicious of anyone who dared pose a challenge to such inquisitiveness.]

Is that what you like about them?

Mmm. I must say I've a fondness for any animal that can't be taken for granted.

[Humans too. And other oddities of the universe.]

That's a broad list.

[In her book, everything's got a use one way or the other, but it's harder to care for specifics.

She'll casually start to make a little cat of her own though, outside of the lines of her glyph. Maybe with some improvements.]

[Oh, that's the spirit. She peers with interest at Haggar's work.]

[She's not used to working with snow. But she could catch onto the concept of what Katie was doing easily enough, having observed her. It was no quintessence, but oddly relaxing. What a strange concept.

Not that she's really thinking so much about what she's doing, it's a distraction from a distraction. Her mind is a little somewhere else.]

Perhaps things you aren't fond of are less broad.

[That's a statement worthy of a pooka. She blinks.]

It's possible. I'm sure I've met some people I'm not terribly fond of in the past. Vampires, mostly.

[Gently shaping the snow to form the body. Small, of course; she's not going to go out of her way to get more than what was available to her from her position, but there was enough for her purposes, for it to be sturdy enough.]

Is that so. [She was almost surprised to have gotten an answer, but it would be interesting to know, from a knowledge gathering standpoint.] How strange... I don't believe I'm familiar with the term. Perhaps you could enlighten me.

Perhaps I could.

[...oh you wanted an explanation

Well, she does pause long enough to be a brat about it, but then grins.] Vampires really love art and colourful auras and blood, and they're terribly dull in all other ways. If they want any of those things, they take them without asking.

[Oh she caught that little brattiness.

It's a little strange to hear her own method of speaking practically repeated at her... well, an eyebrow quirks slightly, but mostly she retains her unimpressed expression while still focusing on the snow.

Taking without asking... now that was oddly specific. To someone who spent untold years learning how to draw out certain kinds of energy from... entire planets. Well then.]

For you to not like them, they must have tried to take something from you. Something... precious?

[The girl practically radiated strange magical energy, after all.]

My time. [Sniff.] If someone's going to invite me over for dinner, they should at least make it entertaining.

[...Possibly a yes? Discerning between her words was easy at some times, not worth it at others.]

That's very unfortunate.

[Snow-cat's looking more like a cat now. Or more space-alien cat, rather. Not that it's easy to make different looking textures with snow, but the shape is there.]

You have a touch of the creative in you, I see.

Perhaps. I hadn't considered investing my time in an activity like this.

Investing is an interesting word. It implies you hope to get something out of it.

Indeed. [The smallest of allowed smirks.] I don't like to have my time wasted.

[Even if this was a largely pointless undertaking, the fact that she was attempting it meant there was some worth to the endeavor, even if it was just seeing how it would turn out.]

You must be at odds with a great deal of the human race, then.

Plenty of races will do that. It doesn't matter much to me.

[Even if most were confusing at best with their more carefree attitudes, but that was another matter. As long as some use could be had out of them, she'd manage. Or so she'd told herself.]

Are you often at odds with others?

[Watching how the girl answers that one, since she knows she's not necessarily truthful.]

I strive to be at odds with everyone. [Grin.] People that fit well together grow dull after a while. It's fun to have edges sticking out.

[Well, that's certainly a statement, intent notwithstanding. Shifting through the lies and so forth.]

One can't always account for the different personalities they'll run into.

[Particularly those who would stand in the way of vision or progress.]

Isn't it more interesting that way? If everyone were the same I think I'd grow frightfully bored.

Perhaps. There are other things more interesting than people, so it's not something I've considered.
