[Beverly is onscreen, the Blue Fish's med bay, still intact, behind her. Her jaw is set with determination as she talks.]

Attention, Drift Fleet. This is Dr. Beverly Crusher of the USS... of the SS Blue Fish. I know some of you have taken significant damage to your ships, possibly to your sickbays, and that others do not have a medic on board. Fortunately, our sickbay survived the attack, so I am offering it as a central location to help the wounded while repairs are being made elsewhere. We have a small supply of blood on hand as well, should anyone need it. If any member of your crew is too severely injured to be moved, please let me know, and I will come to you. No payments will be necessary for any treatment.

Thank you for your time.

[She signs off with a grim smile.]

What do you think we should do? I mean, obviously, we need to repair what got broken, but ...

[ Almost none of them know anything about spaceships other than what the augments have taught them, and it's a struggle to upgrade the bathrooms, let alone their weapons or shields ... ]

Well, first off, I think we could all do with a little cross-training. I mean, we should let the experts do their jobs, but if an engineer or a pilot or whoever is taken out in the middle of a battle, other people on the crew should be able to step in as back ups. One of the core principles of Starfleet training is making sure everyone has at least some basic knowledge of ship's operations.

Secondly, we need a plan for the next time this happens. Every ship for itself isn't going to cut it in the long run.

Plus, not every ship even has all the positions filled properly ...

So, are we talking like -- battle formations?

[ God she wishes Shikamaru was here. He was always better at the whole tactics and planning thing ... ]

I'd prefer trying to talk to these aliens first, see what they want. Though, I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that probably what they want is their fees from Atroma in return for providing a little excitement for the show. Still, we should try making contact with them if we get the chance. If not... then yes, I'm talking battle formations. All the pilots should be practiced in evasive maneuvers as well.

I have a feeling they won't say anything back ... we had someone following us a few months ago and we tried to contact them and got nothing back. And then they just disappeared after a few minutes.

Either way, I think we can make being prepared for next time happen. It might be good to see if any ships have extra pilots who'd be willing to transfer ...

[She nods in agreement.] Sokka and I have both been trying to get our ship off of autopilot with no success. Thank goodness for Mr. Hawke's arrival, or we wouldn't have had any defenses.

[She thinks for a moment.]

Do you think the people you saw following you are the same ones who attacked us?

[ She shrugs. ]

We couldn't actually see whatever it was that was following us, it just popped up on the radar. It seems like space is big enough for it to be a coincidence.

[You would think that be the case, wouldn't you? But, dear Ino, that is not how things usually turn out.]

Normally, I'd agree with you, but since we are on a television show, who knows what they have planned for us.
