[Beverly is onscreen, the Blue Fish's med bay, still intact, behind her. Her jaw is set with determination as she talks.]

Attention, Drift Fleet. This is Dr. Beverly Crusher of the USS... of the SS Blue Fish. I know some of you have taken significant damage to your ships, possibly to your sickbays, and that others do not have a medic on board. Fortunately, our sickbay survived the attack, so I am offering it as a central location to help the wounded while repairs are being made elsewhere. We have a small supply of blood on hand as well, should anyone need it. If any member of your crew is too severely injured to be moved, please let me know, and I will come to you. No payments will be necessary for any treatment.

Thank you for your time.

[She signs off with a grim smile.]

[oh... she sits on the bed, feeling a little bit self-conscious and weird but otherwise trying to think of this as a normal doctor's visit. she kicks her feet, a little.]

Um, it was the attack. I think I might have bumped my head into something, now that I'm thinking about it...

[Her brow furrows slightly. Memory loss is not a promising sign.]

I'm thinking you may have a concussion. In addition to the headache, have you experienced any nausea or dizziness?

Oh. [she ducks a little, embarrassed...] Yeah. I just figured I was anxious...

[A reassuring smile.]

Don't worry, it's nothing we can't handle. I'm going to perform one last test to be sure.

[Picking up a small light, she explains how she's going to shine it on Krista's eyes to check her pupils, etc.]

Oookay.

[she follows instructions very well! yes, it's... probably a light concussion.]

So you're, um. A real doctor and everything?

Yes, ma'am. I've been one for twenty years now.

[As she prepares an ice pack, she keeps talking, partially because she's interested but also because she wants to keep Krista alert. She hands Krista the bag.]

You have a minor concussion, but ice will help. Hold this to your head and don't press too hard, that could make things worse.

What do you do, at home? Are you in school or working or... [she smiles, thinking of Steph] fighting crime?

[she puts the pack to her head, as directed. nodding a little... but that last bit finally gets her to laugh, kind of a sudden giggle.]

No, no. Nooo crime fighting. I'm in high school... When I'm not being dragged around on inter-dimensional spaceship shows, or whatever.

[Beverly laughs along with her.]

In this fleet, you never know what to expect from people.

[She tilts her head in consideration.]

I kind of like it, though. I'm discovering so many new things here.

Me too, oh my god.

[okay, now she's getting enthused. her voice never really gets louder, but she sounds excited!]

Did you know that there are like, dragons here? Literal dragons. It's so cool. And all of these people have such cool magic, and like, come from all these crazy worlds...

[Shaking her head in wonderment] I haven't run into any dragons yet!

[That's just what you think, Beverly.]

Well, they're usually hiding in human form, so that makes it easier. [she thinks for a moment, with an ice-pack on her head...] Maybe you've actually met one already. That kind of happens.

I wouldn't be surprised. I mean, that's not exactly something I would think to ask someone. I didn't expect to meet demons either, but yet here they are. ["Demons," anyway. She still does not really believe in literal demons.]

Oh, yeah. That's weird. [she's met a couple of them herself!] They seem pretty nice, though.

[she kicks her feet a little bit. like a kid.] ...Hey, um. Can I give you a random compliment?

They do. I haven't seen any pitchforks yet, anyway.

[Her eyebrows go up a little in surprise at Krista's question, but she is by no means made uncomfortable by it.]

Alright. What is it?

[she shifts the ice pack a little, but it's... mostly just fidgeting.]

Doctors normally really freak me out, but you seem really nice. So, um. I'm glad you're here on the weird show with us, even if it really sucks that you're away from home or whatever.

[...she ducks her head, almost before she's done with the sentence.]

You know what? That sounded better in my head. Maybe, uh, nevermind. I have a concussion, don't listen to me.

Oh no, no [Beverly takes Krista's free hand and gives it a quick, warming squeeze before letting it go again] that was the sweetest thing anyone here has said to me. I know some doctors can be intimidating so I am glad that you feel comfortable here. If I made you too anxious to come see me, then I wouldn't be doing my job.

Oh... W-Well, good. I'm, um, glad.

[she... laughs awkwardly, but at least she's laughing?]

I'm super-glad. I'm worried that more bad stuff is gonna happen, so... It's really nice to know we've got a good doctor around.

[Beverly nods seriously.] I'm hoping the fleet won't need my services too often, but it's hard to predict what's going to happen when we're at the mercy of an unknown audience.

In any case, if you ever need or want to come see me, my door is always open.

That's really sweet... Yay...

[she winces again, but it's at least through a smile.]

I'll try to not hit my head again, but you know. Likewise, if you need a sneaky teenager for anything, I, uh, got your back.

[She chuckles.] Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.

[Opening up a nearby cabinet, she takes out some pain medication.] Before you go, take one of these. It'll help with the pain. If you need any more over the next couple of days just let me know. Over the next couple of days, keep icing the injury every few hours. Don't sleep for more than a couple of hours at a time. If your symptoms get worse, call me immediately. It would also make me feel better if someone on your ship would help keep an eye on you. Do you have someone over there you can trust?
