[The Space Bar staff made good use of the ever-replenishing alcohol supply at their last stop, and Nami and Remy got around to discussing the idea of testing various experimental mixes to come up with new additions for the menu.  I mean, add to that Nami hasn't made a decision which one of the applicants should take the main bar job, so clearly the best idea is to shove them all into one place and ply them with alcohol while they talk to each other and work it out after that.

No, it's a good idea.  Shut up.

...okay.  It may just be a good excuse for a party.  Sue her.]

Why not both? If that's something you feel like you might enjoy doing, you could always ask Sokka to see if you can work in the forge or if he has any ideas of where you could work on stuff.

[look he thinks the idea of a forge is cool, but what is he going to make, a sword?? The fuck is he going to do with that]

[There, that'd get him started on thinking.] Anyway, you wouldn't have to work there. Just talk to Sokka and see if he knows a place where you can tinker. That way if you decide that's something you want to do, at least you have the information, right?

You just want me to meet your brother, I know what you're up to. [he knows that isn't what she's up to, but he appreciates the the idea]

Fine, maybe I'll check out the forge and annoy your brother until he kicks me out. Or I'll make a fuckin' knife and surprise us all.

[ She blinks, but by the time she puts together what he's saying enough to joke: No, I think you're still too old for him, besides he's interested in the four-armed lady over there, the moment has sadly passed.

So she just slurps, deliberately, on her drink and then gives him a grin. ] I want a blue wrapped handle.

[ Sadly, Katara doesn't know him well enough to get all that, but she does still gather that he's teasing. So she rolls with it. ]

[he's been long done with his drink at this point, but he may as well while he's here - he reaches over to grab another bottle of the cheapest beer he can reach] —want one, or are you gonna chicken out again?

[ Eyeroll. ] I'm happy with my soda, thanks. Besides, I'm not going to stick around for much longer. I'm going to go practice and then swing back to see if Sokka needs a ride home.

[ A thumb over her shoulder at her brother, who is no doubt arm-wrestling with Looma right now. ]

. . . why is your brother arm-wrestling the big scary lady?

[look, he's going to ask, you pointed it out]

He is? [She turns to glance over her shoulder at them.] ...of course he is.

[She glances at her drink like she is reconsidering alcohol for a moment and then shrugs.] ...they're... dating? Kind of? Or working on it?

[She has CONCERNS, and wishes she could just answer: Because Sokka is dumb, except she knows that's not true, and she knows there's got to be more to this than she immediately understands.

She just doesn't yet understand.]

[he isn't here to judge what people are into. He does take a long sip of his beer, though] Weird ass courting ritual, then.

[A slight slump to her shoulders.] It gets weirder. Apparently he has to defeat her in combat before they can officially date.

[Like... it's a biological/attraction thing that she... really doesn't want to think about, let alone explain to anyone else.] So... he's... training for that.

[Seriously wondering if she should go for something stronger now...

No. Nope. She'll just... go practice until she can't think about it anymore, especially the fact that it won't mean "dating" as much as an engagement which is so much more serious... Practicing. Yes. She'll go do that.]

Is that a . . . cultural thing for her or something? Like, 'cause normally you don't beat the crap out of people before you date.

[a pause, before he shakes his head] You know what? I don't want to know.

Yeah... that's fair. [Because, yeah, she really doesn't want to think about it either. She finishes up her soda.] I'm... trying to see what happens. He says he really likes her, so...

Sigh. She is not sure that she wants to support him in this or not, but it's also not something she wants to rope Ben into so... ]

Yeah. [She takes a breath and then looks up.] Anyway, I should probably get going and let you get back to practicing bartending. But don't let the weird courtship thing fool you, Sokka's really good at making things.

[he wouldn't mind being roped, but he also isn't the type to just step into something uninvited, either]

Never doubted it, kinda hard not to believe it what with how many times you bring him up. [he means that in a good way] Sure you don't want to hang around?

Anyway, she shakes her head.] I was thinking of checking out to see if the pool room was free and using that water, if not I'll just find an empty room. If you want to come by, you can call me on the communicator and I'll let you know where it is.

[She should really get herself a regular practice room on this place, but... that's thoughts for another time. And she can't quite imagine why he'd want to - watching someone else practice has got to be so boring. But if he wants to come by, sure, why not?]
