Dr. Strange | OTA
[Why go for the protein-based goo stuff when you have transmuting magic at your disposal? Strange was wondering that very existential question as he looked down at the bland food in his plate. Even if it was flavored, it didn't smell that much appealing. Masters of the mystic arts were not supposed to use their knowledge for personal gain, but this surely qualified as using his magic for the greater good, right? Him being hangry wouldn't do any good to anyone.
And so, somewhere while moving from the counter to the kitchen table, the protein-based goo in his plate had turned into one of those delicious turkey and bacon sandwich from the Deli close to the Sanctum in New York. Even the green tea in his cup had changed into a jasmine-perfumed oolong tea, teh same one he would get from Karma-Taj.
He might miss New York, but at least he wouldn't miss the food here.]
Med Bay/Lab Station
[Even if medicine knowledge had dominated his life, Strange found that the equipment in the med bay was very different from the one he used to work with at Met General. It was why he sent most of his day in the lab, reading all the reports available, all the research done on the augment that was permitted to read. As a neurosurgeon, he was rather curious on how these...things had been attached to their brain, while how they could feed information to their user.
Whenever he read on the datapad, the Cloak of Levitation would move off his back, looking around the med bay too, though it seemed to be careful enough not to touch anything. If anyone were to join him there, the Cloak would raise a corner of fabric, and wave it as a sign of welcome.]
Planetside
[Stephen's top level can be found here.]
Kitchen
Um...hi. Are you a friend of someone's? [No particular person.]
(OOC: Is he wearing the cape?)
no subject
No. I was transferred here a few days ago. Didn't you get the memo?
[His words were lightly laced with sarcasm: he would have assume the crew would have been informed of his transfer from the Marsiva, no?]
[ooc: he is!
It's a cloak]no subject
I'm Mon-El. [He holds out a hand for a shake, but then looks uncertain.] I guess you have your hands full though.
no subject
Dr. Strange. [He offers with a curt nod, making no moves to shake the other man's hand. It's nothing personal: ever since his accident, his hands have been off limits to hand shakes: they would only result in pain for Stephen.]
I do, so I'm sure you'll excuse if I don't...? [He says, giving a quick look at the Mon-El's offered hand. His own hands stay poised over his sandwich, the slight tremor in them easily noticeable.]
So you're part of the crew, I take?
no subject
Sure. No problem. [He puts his hands back down to the side. There is time for handshakes and high fives later. High fives are so important. That's what hands are for!]
Yes, I'm in security. Just...keeping things secure. [Yep. He doesn't do a ton of what one might call "work." Although he is often domestically helpful with the crew.]
So, do you fly? [This is a totally normal question to ask someone.]
no subject
Security, huh? How often are you called into action? [Not that Strange needs any protection for himself, but knowing how dangerous the Fleet maybe is somewhat important to know.
The man's next question does raise an eyebrow high on Stephen's face, his expression betraying his confusion. That's not an assumption people often make about him.]
Why would you think that I do?
no subject
It's been pretty safe recently except when we were shot down and landed on the cannibal planet. And then before that when the planet we were by was destroyed and had to be evacuated. And then there were some slave raiders that boarded the ships one time, but usually it's just pinball and hanging out. [He clears his throat. That all sounded so much worse bunched together.]
You're wearing a cape. [At least that's the only reason Kara wears one, right? He hasn't noticed a lot of cape wear in National City. Then again...] Oh, unless it's a—what did Winn call it?—Lord of the Rings thing?
no subject
Yes, it sounds very safe to me, indeed. [He says dryly, because really? Cannibals, destroyed planets and slave raiders all sound like a walk in Central Park on a spring day. Except not.] So what's your weapon of choice against cannibals and slave raiders?
[Strange gives Mon-El a long look that could easily be read as a 'are you shitting me' look]
Do I look like a hobbit to you? [Seriously. He's 6' tall and clearly less hairy than the halfling kind.
At the word 'cape', the Cloak moves from Strange's back to float in front of Mon-El, twirling around as if to make a point:]
It's a cloak, not a cape. And since it's called the 'Cloak of Levitation', I'll let you guess if I can fly or not.
[While its master is a bit dry, the Cloak itself gathers some of its fabric together and offers it to the other man, a clear invitation to shake 'hands']
no subject
And I'm not sure what the hobbits look like, but my understanding is that humans will dress up as characters and go to conventions and movie premieres and costume parties. I was on Earth for Halloween. [See how much he's learned!]
Woah! [The cape moved on it's own.
Cape, cape, cape, cape, cape!] I think it can.Med Bay;;
A floating cloak that's waving at him. ]
Hey, Mag-- umm. [ He looks around quickly, not spotting her. ]
What..
no subject
He turns around when he hears someone in the lab, and Strange smirks lightly at the surprised expression the teen wears while looking at the waving Cloak. The Cloak's friendliness might be a bit annoying at times, but it never gets old watching people realize that it's sentient.]
She's not here at the moment. [Stephen offers while walking closer to the boy.] Can I help you with something?
[The kid is not on the crew roster, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't help him.]
no subject
[ He moves further into the medical bay, leaning against one of the counters. His attention splits between Stephen and the cloak just.. floating on its own. It's weird, and kind of funny. ]
I haven't seen you around, you must be new?
no subject
She's usually in by now, so my guess is that she's on her way, if you want to wait for her. I take you two know each other well?
[Why else drop to check on her, after all. The Cloak moves from its corner to closer to the bench where the boy leans against, clearing curious about him.]
I am. I arrived a few days ago. I'm Doctor Strange.
[He offers with a curt nod.]
no subject
We know each other from home and showed up here together. I'm Carl Grimes- nice to meet you.
