[Felix hums in thought, clearly skeptical of Strange's answer but letting it rest for the time being. He would have preferred more honesty, truthfully, but dragging it out of the man wouldn't help any.

The altered handshake throws him for a moment, but he understands the intent after a moment, his smile flaring back to life on his face.
]

Well, technically speaking it doesn't. I'm a wizard. But that's semantics.

A doctor, though? Well, we're lucky to have you on board with us. Sorry for the lack of a proper welcoming party, but the crew tends to scatter to the winds the second we come into sight of a habitable planet. Ah, which reminds me...[He moves back, opening a compartment on the far wall and removing a small basket]

Take one of these. It will key you into the wards. Do what you want with it - put it a piece of jewelry or just keep it in your pocket - just as long as you have it on your person at all times while you're on the ship.

[It's nothing personal against Felix, but considering that the only other sorcerer he knows beside the masters of the mystic arts is Loki, Strange tends to keep his cards close to his heart. For now.

That answer raises an eyebrow slowly on Stephen's face:]

There's a difference between the two of them?

[Not that it matters much to him, as he will always see himself as a master of the mystic arts.
He smiles lightly:]

I am. My specialty lies in neurosurgery. Well, used to be that, I guess. [The reason why it's not anymore is fairly easy to guess from his hands.] And don't worry about the welcoming party, I wasn't exactly expecting one either.

[Stephen watches as Felix retrieves something and peers into the basket when it's presented to him. Strange chooses a green stone that reminds him of the Eye of Agamotto hanging around his neck and nods curtly:]

Thank you. How do they work?

[Strange is not sure he will ever need a protection ward, but he's not about to turn down something that might come useful in the future.]

[He's used to people playing their cards close to their chest, especially when it comes to magic, so he takes the hint of evasiveness in stride.]

That depends on where you're from, but at the end of the day it's largely a matter of persistent nomenclature.

[Smirking lightly, he backs up to replace the remaining stones back in their cubby]

The stones are a way to help the wards recognize friend over foe. The wards, besides protecting the structure of the ship itself, will also incapacitate anyone on the interior of the ship attempting to attack the ship or the crew. Technically speaking, they are more exclusive than inclusive, as anyone with the stone will be considered a viable target for the wards. For instance, in the event we were boarded by something hostile and you went to attack it without the stone on your person, the wards would incapacitate you first.

((ooc: You can design your stone here))
