I'll keep this brief. My name is Clark - I'm from Kansas.

[ He's been the new guy at work often enough to sound chill about this, but he is feeling a little shaky having woken up here in the middle of his workday. To top it off, not being able to hear his mother's heartbeat is jarring.

There's some stress baking in Clark's future. ]

How long have you been here?

Quite a city, no where like it. [Remy did adore his home.] What part ya from? 've hadn't spent much time in the state, just passin' through for the most, but have done work in Wichita though. [They had a great art museum there...]

Ahh, would say close to maybe two 'nd a half years, on 'nd off, did vanish for a few months awhile back only to get back here. Take it ya new to places like this. [He didn't sound like he had been in one of these little prisons before, not from that intro.]

I'm from Smallville, if you've heard of it. [ It's a town nobody goes to unless they live there or know someone who does. Clark wouldn't be surprised if Remy didn't know. ]

If so, 'd recommend duin' Mardi Gras, at least if ya wantin' to go down to party. Still nice if ya ain't, lots of culture 'nd great food down there. [Though maybe a little pointless while they were on the Fleet, unless they ran across a place that felt like home.] 'nd sorry, ain't heard of Smallville. Guessin' it lives up to it's name?

Ah, for me I went to bed one night, woke up the next mornin' but it was months later, didn't feel like 'nything changed, but for others it does. Some have gone back home or whatever happens there, come back older 'nd havin' gone through some merde back in their worlds. Others can come back without 'ny memories of bein' here at the Fleet before.

Do the memory gaps have something to do with the implant?

Considerin' how little we know 'bout them, could very well be. We don't seem to have a lot of 'nformation on them, despite what people have tried to either learn what they are, or remove them.

Which I don't 'ncourage, by the way. From the stories 've heard, they don't end well. [Hmm, that may be a little too foreboding.] Nothin' lethal, but they do certainly create a feelin' of dread when ya try to mess with them. Plus, considerin' how it linked up to our brains 'nd that 'nformation it gives us, donno if really wanna go pokin' 'round with them. No clue how they wired in, non?
