[If you are used to seeing people waking up belligerent and demanding answers, dear viewers, you might get a little disappointed at how anti-climatic this one is.

Probably because Lyall spent about ten minutes pretending to sleep while sniffing around once he realized he wasn't where he was supposed to be. So when he 'wakes up', he simply opens his eyes and slowly sits up, looking around with mild interest.

He quickly and silently asses his state - no injuries, he's wearing clothing. He's feeling a little groggy, as if waking up from a full moon night, but if he were he'd be locked up and decidedly more naked.

Then, suddenly he blinks even though nothing noticeable happened on the screen, and stands up to walk to the camera, looking up at it.]

If this is transmitting, might someone tell me how to get in contact with Lord Falmouth? It's urgent.

[Action - Marsiva]

[Among the people freaking out and those being extremely enthusiastic, the one thing that might make Lyall stand out even though he wishes he weren't is his attitude. He isn't walking around in a rage demanding answers or being scared of what is happening, but simply taking advantage of the food, drinks and sleep options presented to them.

Not all food options are satisfactory, though. You might find him sighing slightly as he delicately eats the pieces of raw meat he's been given.]

I hate to be a bother, but do you think they might have fish instead?

Action - SS Heron]

[Well, that transfer was... unsettling. Immediately upon arrival, Lyall sniffs the air quickly, and... frowns. No, this doesn't smell right either.]

I'm terribly sorry, but I am afraid I will not be able to stay among you for very long.

[He feels the tether snap into place while he's putting the final touches on his new salon. He's been meaning to announce it but it just hasn't felt like the right time. It hasn't been just right. However, all of that fades from his mind the second he feels that his Beta...his mate has arrived.

Lyall is here. Here with the fleet.

His first instinct is to sniff the air for him even though he knows that the expanses of space and metal block that. Still, he knows where Lyall is and that has him looking in that direction even as he opens up a video feed. He's too impatient to see the video Lyall has made and just taps to reply without hesitation.

He needs to see him. Now.

The second the connection is made, his smile is bright and brilliant. All the tension of late bleeds out of him as he sees that wonderful face before him.

Oh how he's missed him.]

Good evening, Lyall. How charming to see you again. I can only apologize that I cannot see you in person just yet.

[For Lyall, the tether was never reall off since he was home with the pack - and Biffy - when this whole mess happened. He feels like full moon came out of cycle a little, but for now that's it. Oh, and of course there's this weird thing where he knows Biffy is nearby but he can't smell him. That's quite annoying.

Hearing Biffy's voice, seeing his face, seeing his smile... Lyall does do a quick visual check since he can't smell from where he is. Biffy looks fine. He can't have been doing great if he was on his own, but he's holding it together at least.

Lyall gives a small nod. He's guarded for now, a little too aware that they are being watched.]

My Lord. I hope you have not been too unwell in my absence.

[Never before have those two words sounded so good. My Lord. He smiles just a little more as he lets those words settle on him like a warm blanket. Soft and comforting and familiar.]

I have managed. Though I confess I will do better once you are at my side. We will have to ensure you are brought to this ship after the shuffle.

[Because this right now? Not at all what he wants. He wants that scent of him instead. That feel of him. That knowledge that they will share a room again.]

[Another smile. Good.]

I have been told the first assignment is random, but I can ask for a transfer once that is done.

It will be but it will be easy enough for you to transfer to the ship I am assigned to after that.

[There's a pause and then...]

I've already created space for you in the room I am in.

[There's not quite a smile on Lyall's face as he hears those words - still a little too on edge about the fact that they are in public, but his expression softens.]

... I would have expected nothing less from you. How long have you been here?

['How long have you been waiting for me?' stands unspoken between them. They'd literally just been back from waiting for twenty years, and now Biffy had been cast out alone again for god knew how long? That was just cruel.]

Several months now. Though it was December when I was pulled here, it was February in this world. It is now May.

[Which means he has been parted from Lyall for four months.]

[Four months? .... okay that is disheartening. Biffy had to go through three full moon cycles alone, with no pack? At least when Lyall was in India he had the others.]

That must have been hard. And...

[Something that just struck him, especially given his conversation with Kirk.]

When is the next full moon supposed to be?

I can feel that it is approaching within a matter of days. However, the exact times of the cycles are still up in the air since I have yet to determine what year the cycles are on.

[It's quite frustrating really.]

You will be with me before that happens and the cargo hold of this ship has been adjusted to account for us during the full moon.

... Well, it was only nine days ago for me, so this is going to be a ride.

[He's goign to feel out of whack for a while, he can already feel it. And Biffy had to do this lone for four months? It's a wonder no one got hurt, really. And a testament to his Alpha's power and control.]

I have been informed of the facilities. It will be easy enough to share them, I am sure.

[At home they each have their own cell, of course, but space seems to be a rare commodity here, and they've been sleeping int he same bed for the past month anyway. They'll probably be fine being in the same cell for full moon.]

Of course. I made sure they could handle the both of us.

[Since mates were often put in a cell together, he'd needed to make sure that there was a place for them. Of course he plans to make space for the rest of the pack as well but he had to start small as he built up his funds.

So with that settled...]

I am aboard the SS Blameless. When you have been shuffled we can have you transported here as well as transferred.

I will let you know as soon as I know where I am sent, then, so that we can get... organized.

[He'll trust Biffy to know what to do, but in the meantime...]

They do not appear to have any fish here.

[He hasn't complained about much, alright?]

I made sure to obtain plenty of fish in preparation of your arrival. The Blamless is well stocked with fish and meat.

[Yeah. He really, really missed you. Does it show?]

[Yes it does, and it's really cute.]

[They are able to talk longer but then it's a waiting game until the shuffle. And then he's ready for Lyall's call. Beaming him to the Blameless, he welcomes him with a smile as he walks up to him.

That scent is...amazing. It's better than he could have ever dreamed of at this point. He wants to get him back to his room but...

Manners.]

Welcome aboard the SS Blameless.

[Manners. They are in public.

Of course to Lyall, it's barely been a few days and not months, like Biffy, but still. At least now he can smell him again as well as fell him and that is more right. So even Lyall cannot help holding out his hand to brush his fingers against Biffy's, as if to check he's really okay now.]

Thank you for having me, my Lord. I'm sorry I was so late.

[This is bringing back some rather... awkward memories of coming home after an absence, too.]

You made it. That is all I could ask.

[He gently squeezes his hand briefly then pulls back to a polite distance.]

May I offer you some tea, Lyall? We can retire to my room after.

Tea would be lovely.

[Lyall is never going to say no to tea, especially in Biffy's company. Nevermind the fact that he's busy smelling everything around, cataloging things to investigate later. For now, his attention is just laser-focused on his Alpha.]

Maybe a bit more information about what you have been doing, as well.

Of course. This way please.

[He leads the way out and to the kitchen where he already has tea ready to go. Pouring some for Lyall, he sets it down and pours himself some as well before sitting down.]

Where would you like for me to begin, Lyall?

I have heard the 'official' explanation about why we were brought here, but it sounds extremely unsatisfactory to me. But first...

[Okay, to hell with it. Lyall is going to put down his tea cup and reach out to cup Biffy's cheek.]

How are you? Four months without a tether is... a long time for someone like you.

[Both a powerful Alpha and someone so very sociable and used to being the center of a group. A lesser Alpha might well have gone crazy from it, and instead not only is Biffy still Biffy, he apparently managed to conceal the supreme discomfort of this situation to everyone around him well enough.]

[The hand on his cheek feels so nice after being without Lyall's touch these past few months. Biffy closes his eyes and leans into the contact to savor it. To memorize how those fingers feel against his skin.]

I confess that it wasn't easy. At times I really thought I might be going mad and it was frightening. Perhaps more so because no one here understands. I could try to explain and they would only tell me I would get used to the feeling, never aware that this wasn't something that one simply became used to.

[His eyes opened. For Lyall he's ready to be brutally honest about what he's been feeling. Because this is someone who understands how hard it had to have been for him.]

When I felt you arrive it was like the world lifted from my shoulders and my place in the world was whole. I cannot possibly express how grateful I am just to have felt you arrive.

They would not understand.

[British society might be more open in their acceptance of supernatural creatures, and there were people studying them, but there are certain things that are difficult to put in words to make someone understand who hasn't experienced it firsthand.

You can explain the theory of a tether to someone who cannot feel it, but not how it feels to have it ripped from you or on the contrary to have it settle it place.]

Then I am glad I made it here, if only a bit late. And once again, I am amazed at how well you have managed to keep things together.

It was challenging but I knew you and the others would need me should you arrive. I had to keep it together.

[Catching that hand, he presses the calm to his lips and kisses gently before opening his eyes to look at Lyall.]

And you are here now. That is all that matters to me.

[The soft kiss makes a shiver go down Lyall's spine, and bring a small flush to his cheeks. Biffy really must have been lonely, and that's the only thing that is keeping Lyall from remonstrating him for public displays of affection.

He doesn't take back his hand, but he grabs his teacup and drains probably more rapidly than is polite.]

[The sparkle in Biffy's eyes says that he's quite thrilled that he still has his bedroom eyes up to par. And if Lyall is going to drink his tea quickly then he will join him to finish his own cup off, setting it aside and then taking both to quickly wash them before turning back to his Beta.]

Shall I show you to our room now? It is a good deal smaller than what we are used to but I believe we will manage.
