A. Broadcast/Hospitality Deck

[Space travel, for Leia, is far from new. There hasn't been a time in her life where she wasn't able to board a ship and travel to another planet. Travel without her knowledge, though? That's new, and that has her on guard, because she doesn't recognize her surroundings, doesn't know whose ship this is, and doesn't yet know how to her people or to get away on her own. (good luck with that one, Leia.) Not to mention this whole reality show nonsense...

What she does recognize is a camera when she sees one. Narrowing her eyes and raising her chin, Leia peers down at the camera, her expression doing a good job at masking the unease she's feeling thanks to... well, everything here.]

If this is a joke, it's not a funny one.

[As much as she wants more information and needs to know exactly where she is and what's going on, she's too on edge, guarded, and distrustful to outright ask. But that's not to say she won't respond if anyone responds to her... less-than-amused broadcast.

For anyone else currently in or around the welcome area later on, they're likely to see Leia inspecting her new surroundings. She has questions--too many, probably, that she doesn't even really know where to begin asking them--and trying to find answers herself is her first instinct.

But, as closed off and standoffish as she may seem at the moment, noticing someone near her, well--that's a resource for more information, and someone else presumably in a similar situation. It wouldn't be right to not reach out.]

At least this is cleaner than the last ship I was on.

[meaning, the Falcon. Ha...]

B. Aboard the Vanquish

[You know who isn't quite fond of surprises? Leia. Leia isn't fond of them. This whole appearing in a fanfare of confetti and music and... chocolate goo? is really not her thing. Leia blinks, essentially stunned into silence for a moment, glancing around at the confetti, the dessert, and all this ridiculously unnecessary ceremony.

She doesn't plan on sticking around the bridge for long, though she will stop if anyone in the bridge as she arrives greets her. That, or if anyone in the bridge notices the untouched chocolate cream left behind. She's got other things on her mind to deal with now besides suspicious dessert goo.

Most of Leia's first day on board is spent, as likely all new arrivals do, wandering the ship and getting a feel for her new surroundings. ...And occasionally shaking yet another hidden poof of confetti from her hair. But rather than getting to know every inch of her new ship, Leia gravitates first toward the nearest porthole window, scouring the stars to see if there's any hint of any system or other space landmark-of-sorts that she recognizes. (There isn't.) Anyone who happens to come across her while space-gazing, may get hit with:]

There's something unsettling about not being able to place this system.

[Place it in relation to any of the systems she's more familiar with, that is.]

C. Broadcast/text

[In her time here, Leia has done some investigating, scouring the network to get a better idea of where she is, what's going on, and who else is here with her. It's information easily at hand, and it would be remiss of her to not make use of it. It's when looking through the media files that she comes across a few words that catch her attention, and as much as she's still reluctant to broadcast herself, she has questions that need answers--]

Have any of you found files here from your home galaxies that no longer exist in your current time?

[in other words, someone found the Jedi Code uploaded in the files. And more than just the fact that it speaks about the Jedi and indicates maybe others from her same galaxy had been here at some point, what catches Leia's curiosity about this is that, as far as she's aware, this information had likely been completely destroyed in the years since the fall of the Republic.]

I'd like to know about both, actually, if you have the time.

[Because while there's a lot she needs to know about the situation she's found herself in, she'd be lying if she said she wasn't curious about what happened the (apparently) last time she was here.]

I've got nothing but time. [Especially for the girl she almost got killed. Not that it was really Kitty's fault, but she still felt the weight of it and the other Leia disappeared before she could do much to make it up to her.]

I could probably even find the report other you wrote about our experiment. It was all very official. [Afterward. In the room things had gotten messy.]

While I'm looking for that... [Since she'll need to go deep on the network files.] You've been taken from your world by our mysterious overlords, the Atroma. They claim this is all a reality television show they're broadcasting to some audience we've never run into. Mmm... People from your world called it something different though... [She pauses, trying to remember.] Holo...dramas? Holovids? Something like that?

(OOC: Okay, awesome! If anything is too much just let me know at any time!)

Something like that, yes. I'm sure no one has any concrete proof their claims are accurate, either.

[Because ultimately which sort of holonet programming it is doesn't matter as much as the fact that the Atroma claim this is all broadcast somehow, and that no other beings seem to be bothered by people being kidnapped to be put on this show.]

When you say experiment, what exactly were we testing?

There is another fleet that claims they were part of previous cycles. But you could find a better source to find out more about them. I was a little dismissive, feeling they were just a set up from the Atroma. [She still feels that way, but she kicks herself for not gathering more data from and on them anyway.]

Mm, feel the back of your neck. You might feel a device implanted under the skin there. They aren't always that obvious though. It's called an augment. We all have one. It provides us with some basic information about how to man the fleet and more specific information about our roles in it. And gives them a lot of control over us.

[Leia does as Kitty says, feeling the back of her neck, and sure enough, she finds something there. She frowns, feeling around a bit more, to see if she can tell just how large it is.

It's not a feeling she likes, knowing something has been put inside her neck that she has no memory of. The other fleet that may or may not have been part of the cycle is interesting, but that's a secondary concern to investigate later, compared to this implant.]

What sort of control?

Mmm...it's going to sound like I'm messing with you, but honestly just about anything. Things that shouldn't be possible. Mental and physical changes. One of the most common ones seems to be people suddenly regressing in age. People call them glitches or malfunctions, but I have a feeling the Atroma are directing it even if it seems random.

You're right about that. That sounds all but impossible.

[But as it is now, she has no reason to doubt this information, besides assuming things based on what she always knew to be the case.]

How often do these happen?

[She nods. Even from her world it's pretty out there.]

It's random. It happens on individual level usually instead of a mass effect, but it can come in waves. I was turned into a [breath] cat person not long ago and a guy became a merman a couple of days latter. I've had two glitches in my time here, but some people never do.

[A cat person and a merman.... She can imagine what that must have looked like, even if she can't imagine how someone can change species or appearance that quickly.]

I'm assuming there's no way to guarantee glitches don't happen to you.

[otherwise it wouldn't be a problem.]

How long do these last, if they happen?

[She just shakes her head on the first question.]

It can be anywhere from a day to a couple of weeks from what I've seen. Both of mine were a little less than a week. Long enough you can't always just shut yourself in your room the whole time.

[Far longer than Leia would like if it happened to her, that's for sure. She frowns, silent for a moment before responding.]

Well, if we're truly being broadcast throughout this galaxy, it's not surprising it'd last that long.

I guess not. Maybe you'll never be hit by one. [Wanting to comfort her a little.]

We can hope. And with any luck, you won't experience any others.

[But with that said, Leia still has a few questions on the topic of these augments.]

Were these glitches what we were experimenting with?

We tried to remove the augments entirely using my powers.

[And since she just recovered the file she'd been scanning for, she sends the former Leia's report to the current Leia.]

We figured just surgically removing them had to have been tried before, but disrupting them with phasing or removing them completely that way was something new. And we had a volunteer willing to try it with accelerated healing powers. You were more there as an observer since we'd discussed the possibilities.

[She briefly flicks through the file Kitty sent, silent for a bit while scanning what's written there.]

It's... unusual, reading something I wrote but have no recollection of.

[But it, if anything, proves Kitty's point that she's been here before. That's the least important thing she's been told here, however--]

The results of this are horrifying, to say the least.

They were not great. Things got out of control. We were lucky we didn't lose anyone. Leia mostly.]

[The one good point of everything Leia's skimmed through these reports. As useful as the information is, it would've been far less worth it if someone got that hurt.]

I'm assuming this was never attempted again. Was the patient's chip replaced after?

[Not killed isn't the same as not hurt!]

We never got it fully removed. There was a lot of damage around it, but he was the volunteer because he has an accelerated healing ability. And I can't say no one has tried since. I don't know about any attempts, but that doesn't mean there haven't been any. Not by me though.

[Killed is just very seriously hurt shhh]

If this report is easily accessible to anyone in this fleet, I can't imagine anyone else would want to try it again. I may not be a fan of this, but I'm not about to try and remove mine.

You'd have to scan back pretty far for it at this point and probably know what you were looking for or be an incredible speed reader intent on catching up with the history of the fleet. I'm sure some people keep it handy for showing others when it comes up, but there's a lot of turn over here.

Is there?

[She's genuinely interested, especially with how long it sounds as if Kitty has been here already. It's an interesting sort of contrast.]

I take it I'm not the first person you've seen reappear without their previous memories.

[She nods.] Not through any means of our own, but people disappear as unexpectedly as they arrive.

[She gives a soft laugh.] I met my friend, Elena, at least six times. I think she's the record of people I am familiar with, but there were a couple of boys at my last stop that kept coming and going who might have had her beaten. One of them had cat ears and the other had really spiky hair. I don't think I've seen either of them here yet.

[The story about Elena is interesting, and certainly does have Leia's attention due to her wanting to check for any similarities between the both of their situations, if any, that might help her understand a bit more about her present. But something else catches her notice first--]

Your last stop?

Mmm, this isn't my first multidimensional abduction. There are a lot of people who've been in one or more other places like this, but different too. My other one was an underwater prison.

[Not the answer she was expecting--not that she's sure what she even was expecting, with multidimensional abduction being a factor here, but underwater prison wasn't anywhere near that list.]

I'm sorry to hear that. At least here we aren't underwater.
