[At last, the day has come: Festival Day! Once again, the Starstrikers have taken the trophy this year. But that doesn't mean members of other teams, or those who didn't play, can't celebrate with the rest of them!

There are parties everywhere. Ribbons, streamers, and confetti litter every major street in the system. (Remember what they say about glitter...) There is food on every block, and people cramming into shops to get in on the merch.

Don't forget about the reason for the festival-- the pet adoption drive! A large playground-type area has been set up on the Starstrikers' desert moon where people can play and interact with the lovable creatures needing new homes. Whether you're looking for companionship or just something to do, there's plenty to coo over! Every pet comes with an info card listing a fanciful name and a general description of their age and temperament. Maybe Sir Pringle the puppy or Marquess Mariana the fish can become your new best friend.

Sadly, the Fleet will be drifting in about a week... but feel free to party until then!]

[Precious fluffy babies! As soon as he sees the dogs, he rushes over with what is possibly the most undignified squeal. The camera is out in one hand, while the other reaches out to pet every single one.

And then he sees he's not alone.]

Oh, hi, Kieth!

[tempredmental]

[The squeal gets Keith's attention first, and then... Welp. He laughed.]

Hey, Prompto. They're cute, right?

[this_loser]

The cutest! [He coos over the small dog that has curled itself on his lap, and struggles to find a way to photograph it without disturbing it.]

Are you getting one?

[tempredmental]

I don't know... [Keith was playing with the one right in front of him, and his face looked a little wistful for a moment, but he shrugged.] Probably not. Lance and I each have a pet already, and the only other person who I could see wanting one would be Shiro, but he's got Procyon, so... [He shook his head.] Too bad. They look a lot like his dog from back home.

[The puppy he was playing with popped up suddenly and wrapped its front paws around his forearms, chewing on his hands. Keith couldn't help but chuckle a little.]

That's too bad. [He gently pets the puppy on his lap and laughs.] I think that one likes you.

[That got another chuckle.]

Maybe. It would be nice to have a reminder of home.

[And not even just home in general, but home before everything went crazy again. Before Kerberos.]

Yeah... [Sigh. Home...]

Too bad there aren't any chocobos anywhere. Or something like them. That'd been cool.

What's a chocolate bow?

A bow made of chocolate, I'd guess. A chocobo is a big, beautiful bird.

[Keith stared.

Okay, he probably deserved that.

Sigh.]

A bird? Like... an ostrich? [They were big.]

If only I knew what an ostrich is.

[Obviously, this means scrolling back through his saved photos until he finds a picture of his favorite big, yellow chocobo. He hands his camera over so Keith can see.]

Chocobo.

[Keith leaned in as Prompto scrolled through the pics, and then took the camera once it was offered.]

Oh... it looks like a giant chicken.

[He tilted his head for a moment.]

An ostrich... is kind of like that? Just... skinnier neck and smaller head. But it still has the fluffy body, and I think riding them is a thing, too. Oh... and no fluffy tail that sticks up. They're just kind of round.

[He handed the camera back.]

A chicken?

[He should see the cockatrice. That was a giant chicken.]

Huh. Sounds weird. But I guess a chocobo would be weird to anyone who's never seen one.

Yeah. It kind of is.

I don't have any pictures to show you what I'm talking about as far as the ones from my world... but I'm not surprised you think they're weird.

I've seen a lot of stuff that I consider weird since we started traveling around space.

Hey, I'm okay saying the critters on my own world were pretty weird. [The horror of a spiracorn will never really leave him.] It's kinda comforting that other worlds have interesting animals too.

[That got Keith to smile a bit.]

Yeah, Earth has some pretty cool stuff, I guess. Maybe I'm just used to them. Either way, I've seen some weird since I left, so maybe we'll see something like a chocobo at some point.

That would be awesome. But what are the chances?

[Though there were dogs and cats across various planets. Why not chocobos?]

If we do ever see some, we're going riding.

[Keith grinned a little.]

It should be interesting, at least. I've never ridden on a giant bird before.
