[At last, the day has come: Festival Day! Once again, the Starstrikers have taken the trophy this year. But that doesn't mean members of other teams, or those who didn't play, can't celebrate with the rest of them!

There are parties everywhere. Ribbons, streamers, and confetti litter every major street in the system. (Remember what they say about glitter...) There is food on every block, and people cramming into shops to get in on the merch.

Don't forget about the reason for the festival-- the pet adoption drive! A large playground-type area has been set up on the Starstrikers' desert moon where people can play and interact with the lovable creatures needing new homes. Whether you're looking for companionship or just something to do, there's plenty to coo over! Every pet comes with an info card listing a fanciful name and a general description of their age and temperament. Maybe Sir Pringle the puppy or Marquess Mariana the fish can become your new best friend.

Sadly, the Fleet will be drifting in about a week... but feel free to party until then!]

[Another gasp. How dare. Lance gives a "hmph" and just snuggles the puppy instead, giving it a kiss on the top of their head.]

Fine, guess they're just gonna steal all my hugs and kisses, you traitor.

[Keith laughed.]

Like you're so wounded with a bunch of cute, fluffy puppies on you.

[He did shift over a little to sit next to Lance, pressing his leg up against him.]

I'm in agony.

[Anything but. He can't hide his laugh for long.]

This is like the best thing ever.

[Seeing Lance laugh got Keith to grin.]

Yeah... they remind me of Shiro's dog back home.

[He leaned in close to pet the one that had flopped on Lance's chest and was now yawning, ready to nap.]

Yeah? What were they like?

[Aww, sleepy puppy... Alright, Lance is fine being a mattress right now.]

Sora... she looked a lot like these guys. Really well trained... affectionate and playful. She was a great comfort when things got rough.

[Keith had found that out. Because, as much as she had been Shiro's dog, if Keith had a bad night while he was staying there, that dog was at his side, licking and nuzzling to help him through it.]

Sora. That's a really pretty name for a dog. It means...uhh, let me remember... I think it means "sky" in Japanese, right?

[He knows things!]

Yeah. Shiro was a huuuuge space nerd. It was the whole reason he joined the Garrison, I think. [Keith chuckled a bit, petting the sleepy pup.] I miss having her around.

Maybe we'll see her when we go back to Earth. I'm sure she's gonna want a million cuddles after not seeing her two favorite people for a while.

[That definitely got a smile from Keith.]

I sure hope so.

[Though, Keith wasn't sure if he wanted to go back, yet, it would be nice if that could happen if he did go back.]

I wish I had a pet back home to introduce to you, but we didn't have room in the house for one... I mean, I guess we have some chickens that hang about? But I don't think they're really that great for cuddling.

[Keith made a face and then shook his head.]

Nah... I doubt that a lot. I can't see myself cuddling a chicken. That's just weird.
