[At last, the day has come: Festival Day! Once again, the Starstrikers have taken the trophy this year. But that doesn't mean members of other teams, or those who didn't play, can't celebrate with the rest of them!

There are parties everywhere. Ribbons, streamers, and confetti litter every major street in the system. (Remember what they say about glitter...) There is food on every block, and people cramming into shops to get in on the merch.

Don't forget about the reason for the festival-- the pet adoption drive! A large playground-type area has been set up on the Starstrikers' desert moon where people can play and interact with the lovable creatures needing new homes. Whether you're looking for companionship or just something to do, there's plenty to coo over! Every pet comes with an info card listing a fanciful name and a general description of their age and temperament. Maybe Sir Pringle the puppy or Marquess Mariana the fish can become your new best friend.

Sadly, the Fleet will be drifting in about a week... but feel free to party until then!]

[Katie was always something of an enigma to Sokka. He never really knew what he was going to get out of a conversation with her. It was always a roll of the dice. So, at first, he doesn't notice. Not completely, anyway. ]

Really? You never struck me as the sort that'd have the professional capacity to judge a party. You threw some good ones, back home?

Well...no. Not with the, y'know, war and everything.

So how would you know what a good party is like?

[She can see that confusion. She's hoping it derails them enough off the small talk, this was hard.]

I suppose if crowds, bright lights and noise are something that excites you, it is probably not too difficult.

[She's not even trying to pretend to sound entertained anymore. Still, she might as well be entertained by the fact that she could adapt to this guise.]

Why do you like this?

Because it's fun? And we get to let out hair down for a change.

[He smiles. ]

Think about it. No planet nearly or did blow up, there were no terrible viruses to deal with, no shadow of an apocalyptic event. Isn't that something to just...enjoy? It's not like we get a lot of wins here. If it's loud, it's because people are happy. A good happy, too.

Looking at it that way, it could have been a lot worse.

They seem like they have known no more terrible times than a team loss, and that does not seem to result in violence. Do you envy them?

You know...I do a little. It's a really peaceful world, still buckets of competition- but healthy. They still all get along, you know?

It does make me wonder how they'd stand up to an actual threat, though.

[Because being from a world with conflict means that you're at least prepared for it. ]

I do not think they would see it coming. Even if their competitions involve weapons, it would not stop those with intent.

...No, I suppose it wouldn't. They'd be sitting ducks.

I wonder if they'd ever known being conquered... unless that is what led them to developing like this to begin with. Living safely because another power does everything for them.

I don't know, I didn't see any real signs of a ruling faction, but if they wanted to be subtle about it, I guess we wouldn't.

Whatever sort of rule they have, it does them well. I was being... what is the word now. Hypothetical. We won't be here much longer, and they will surely forget about this visit.

Probably, I mean, we never revisit anywhere. Some of them have to forget us.

Maybe they won't forget the people they were able to put in here. [She idly lifts up the magazine with the "popular" Starstrikers.] If nothing else.
