I can't say they have. I've only heard about the various states the Atroma can bring us here.

[Alive, dead, from entirely different points in time to each other. A whole mess of different situations of which Leia likes the sound of none of them.]

[hollystrike]

They can bring items in much the same way. So I'd imagine. Do you have any childhood pets? It's possible you may see them again, if so.

[oratorical]

[Leia shakes her head, before tilting it slightly to the side thoughtfully as she responds.]

Unfortunately, no. There were animals we owned, but they weren't pets, exactly. They didn't live inside with us, and it wouldn't have been fair to have pets with as busy as my parents were.

[hollystrike]

Perhaps that's just as well. Most people's personal pets probably wouldn't take well to a life in space.

Were you as busy as your parents?

[oratorical]

I was, yes. Having free time, or anything close to it, isn't something I'm particularly used to.

[Some might argue she learned the bad behavior from her parents, but she'd probably work herself just as much regardless.]

[hollystrike]

You must be feeling a bit out of your depth here, then. What will you do to keep busy?

[There's just too much free time out here.]

[oratorical]

That's the question, isn't it.

[Which is to say, she doesn't have much of an idea what she'll do to keep busy here. She's not fond of the idea of actually having time with her own thoughts.]

As used as I am to being on board ships, typically I have something that needs my attention on board.

[hollystrike]

Do you mind if I ask what augmented skill you have?

[Sadly the ships function fully by themselves without much input, unless they come under attack. But maybe she can suggest something, who knows.]

[oratorical]

Communications. Though I've met another on board who shares the same augment.

[Which means it's harder to try and throw herself into whatever she could find to do with this augment with someone sharing the work.]

[hollystrike]

May I suggest talking to some of the communications officers on other ships? Many of them have been around for quite a while, and I'm sure there's all sorts of ways they find to occupy their time usefully.

[She'd outright say what comms officers can do, but it's kind of difficult.]

[oratorical]

[Leia nods. It's a solid enough idea, and if anything, just asking the other officers is a task to do in and of itself.]

Which augment do you have, if I can ask?

[hollystrike]

I'm not sure of its name, it's rather vague. A therapy augment? [She smiles wryly.] I have my own office and everything.

[Leia's likely seen it in passing. It has a The Doctor is IN sign a la Lucy from Peanuts.]

[oratorical]

[There's a slight look of recognition at that, because yes, she has seen that sign, not knowing exactly what it was for before now.]

I imagine that keeps you busy in a place like this.

[hollystrike]

It can do. Press gang victims tend to need therapy by default. I keep it as a blanket fort sometimes. [Grin.] Depending on the age of who's visiting.

[oratorical]

[Well that's. An interesting use of an office. And also brings a troubling thought to mind, as well.]

Are there that many children on board?

[hollystrike]

One or two. I suppose children suffering don't actually make good ratings for our universal viewers.

[oratorical]

[Leia nods, glad to hear that answer. Not that one or two isn't still too many, but at least there aren't too many children here.]

At least there's that. Even the Atroma have their limits, it seems.

[hollystrike]

[Katie first came here as a child. Some of the residents have trouble seeing her as older than nine.]

I'm sure if the audience enjoyed it more they'd have no scruples. But really, one or two children as the mascots who need to be protected seem to be a quota for them.

[oratorical]

[It's not a mindset Leia likes, but she can see where Katie's coming from. Again, she frowns.]

There aren't children on our ship in particular, are there?

[she hasn't seen any, but again it hasn't been long. And children are small and easy to miss.]

If there are, they've been awfully quiet about it. I think there was a little girl called Dorothy a long time ago, but she's long since vanished.
