(( ooc: This is a blanket content warning for blood/gore/death. So! There are zombies ahead and you’ve found yourself on the waystation! You have two options: evacuate, or fight them off. Things of note to remember: Being bitten or scratched are the easiest ways for infection. We don’t suggest being eaten. Magic will be hit or miss depending on player preference/discretion. Characters who become zombies will be treated as in-character deaths. Standard rules apply! The event will last a total of 24 hours. Have fun, and enjoy all the undead things. [ The Fleet has been floating along its predetermined path for the past few days, getting further and further away from the Yadrolla System and toward unknown territory. Along the way, those oh-so convenient waystations continue to pop up at their usual intervals. Identical in every way to every other, boring waystation. Neat, right? There are even some of those familiar orange-skinned aliens and some human travelers milling about and generally minding their own business. It’s a good place to stretch your legs, get sodas of questionable flavor, and take those nifty new pets for a walk!

Interrupting the general peace of the waystation, a shrill siren starts, and a robotic voice comes over the intercom as well as all communication devices on the station and surrounding spacecraft, repeating a monotone message. ]


ATTENTION. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY. LOCKDOWN IMMINENT. ATTENTION. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY. CALMLY EVACUATE USING THE NEAREST EXIT. LOCKDOWN IMMINENT..

[ Soon, it becomes apparent to those on the waystation what the emergency is. A gaggle? A murder??? Just.. a lot of undead. They’re not in any particular hurry, shambling and stumbling along.. until they spot what looks like some good eats. That seems to get them excited, arms stretching forward, teeth gnashing, and more growling than any sort of verbal mishmash meant to be words. THEY’RE NOT A WORDY PEOPLE, OKAY?

For those looking to escape, it’s quite easy to outrun them unless you’re not paying attention to your surroundings. Corners can be tough! Just don’t get bit or scratched and all is well, except for their incessant attempts at making you a snack. For those who haven’t come across them before, or have run into some variation of them in another world, they’re resilient up to the point of losing their head or the brain being destroyed. Limbs being broken or missing don’t seem to slow them down, just send them a little off-balance.

All they know is attack and eat.

For those of the fleet still on their ships, they gravitate around the waystation, seemingly not wanting to go anywhere. There is a short window of time from the emergency alert to the entire waystation going on lockdown. Those wishing to help evacuate can do so- but they have to be quick!

Once the lockdown is in place, communication ceases with the waystation. All the rest of the fleet can do is sit and wait, and hope for the best. The doors will re-open twenty-four hours later, once it’s clear the situation is handled and they can regroup, count their losses, and wait once again for the perished to rejoin their ranks. ]

What? You put me to bed and didn't rummage? [Vash hums as if in deep thought.] I am disappointed in your cat burglar skills. D minus. Try again and be better next time.

I mean I have nothing of value to steal, but you should at least try!

Well, I'm in bed with you now. I could rummage you if that would help my reputation. [She lays her hand on his chest with just a hint of suggestion.]

[This is not how he thought this night would go in the beginning. Not that Vash wasn't finding this much better than some of the scenarios he played out in his head before.] Oh? [He tries to keep his voice smooth and steady even though his heart was starting to pound faster.]

I dunno? Ah um, I mean, I'm not sure there's much to find. Or well, haha! Nothing that you haven't now seen before? [Oh yes. So smooth. Great way to sound exactly like an overly shy teenager.]

[She thought there was a very real, maybe even likely end to whatever they'd started coming tonight. She never saw this coming.]

There are still a few things I haven't seen before. Not that I lose interest that quickly either. [She's not sure how much of this is him being unsure or shy or uninterested and how much is maybe just an act or the timing.]

Yeah, a few metal plates in places they shouldn't be. That's probably something you haven't seen before. [Shy and still slightly embarrassed is the answer she's looking for, but that's the problem with someone who lies all the time. Hard to tell what he's really feeling at times.]

Hey... I'm not worried about that. [Okay, she demonstratively WAS worried about that in a health way, but just a health way.] You don't have to worry about it on my behalf.

Alright, I promise I'll try not to. [As letting go of 20+ years of insecurities isn't exactly easy. He's still surprised that she wants to stay with a mess like him.]

Good. [But she's also not sure where it leaves them. He never seems to do more than allow it if she initiates something. She and Winn were making out in storage supply closets almost immediately after meeting each other. They always just seemed set to on and ready. Okay, not entirely true, but there were always extenuating circumstances. Maybe that's the zombies? Or maybe it's her?

She withdraws her hand a little awkwardly. She could try talking about it in an open, honest, and frank way instead of letting her own insecurities worm their way in.]

Mm...

[Nope. That's clearly not a thing to do.]

[Vash isn't sure exactly, but he's pretty sure, that he's either ruined something or made things a bit more awkward. If he was honest he's not entirely sure how to fix it.

After a moment of consideration he leans in to give her a soft and gentle kiss.]

Sorry, [Did he need to apologize? He's not really sure so he does so just in case.] I guess I'm still a little, ah... new?... at all, [What's the word he should use for a casual relationship? Or whatever this was between them.] --this.

[That probably works.]

[The kiss surprises her in a good way. She kept help but to smile afterward. There's even a little flutter inside.] You don't have to be sorry.

[She reaches up, brushing fingers through his hair and looking at him curiously.] You know, the good part about that is that we are the exact same amount of new to this. [Or so she thinks because she assumes he means their relationship with each other and only that.]

Haha! Yeah, I suppose that's true. [He grins, assuming she hasn't figured out just how "new" he was. Wondering how long he can keep that up for.]

You know, anytime you want you can come in here. Even if you don't feel like stealing or rummaging through anything.

[Still unaware!]

Yeah? [She finds that touching.] That's probably good because stealing feels like a lot work and you have terrible taste in things. [Just kidding about that part. Still stroking his hair, maybe encouraging it to fall from a hard day of standing on end.]

Hey! I have excellent taste! [Although that would be hard to tell. Considering he just has the few changes of clothes, a few potted flowers, a harmonica, a red kick ball, hygiene/hair care products, and a couple books stashed around in his room.

And bullets. Lots and lots of bullets.




...and a few empty boxes of donuts.]

Are you sure? You seem like you might like me, and I'm a mess. [She doesn't mind the room. It's a good room. Probably a good thing she's not worried about lots of bullets.]

As I said, I have excellent taste! [He grins with pride and moves in closer to give her another kiss to prove his point.]

[She leans into this kiss, letting it linger longer. Your move, Vash.]

[He's never before realized just how nice it was to share a bed with someone after such a stressful day. Too feel them so close and to know you're not alone. As the kiss lingers he reaches his hand up to gently run his fingers through her hair. When his thumb brushes against her ear it stops there in order to slowly trace around the edge of her ear.

He's so lost in the moment of the kiss that he doesn't even realize that he's doing it.]

[She likes the touching. The gentle, physical reassurance that he's interested and the tender application of showing affection. She keeps kissing him, occasionally breaking the kiss just to take a deeper breath and return to his lips. Exploring and trying things with him. Like he said, this is new and it feels new even if she's kissed other men before.]

[He's not as smooth with his breath taking. Never having had the chance to practice a good rhythm before. Luckily he's a fast learner and follows with Kitty's example after a bit.

Feelings he's never dared act on before rushing to the surface the more he lets himself go as they continue to kiss. Over time his kisses will become slightly more greedy and a bit more forceful.]

[She presses closer, not just her mouth but her whole body against him as he deepens the kiss and she happily matches him parting her lips. So if he was wondering if she approved of his actions, she did.]

[One hand stays tangled up in her hair, but the other starts to travel down Kitty's back. Pulling her in closer as she herself presses closer. When she parts her lips it takes Vash a moment or two before he notices. Once he does he slips his tongue in a bit hesitantly. As if he's not sure of himself, but excited and thrilled all the same.

He's never considered before just how good another person could taste. Or how bad he would want to explore even more and Kitty tasted so sweet.]

[Her heart is beating a little faster as he meets the kiss and she responds in kind, letting him explore and doing some of her own. She makes a contented sound somewhere in her throat.

And as long as she's partially rolled up on him... She swings a leg over him and slides up on top to straddle him before diving deeper into the kiss.]

[Vash is a bit surprised when Kitty ends up on top of him. His heart seems to be pounding so hard he can feel and hear it drumming away in his ears. Somewhere in the back of his mind he tries to question if this was a good idea. A few of his old worries that kept him single before trying to surface once again.

Then he thinks about how easily he could have lost her this evening. How she could just disappear in the morning. How little certainly their lives had so he didn't want to wait. For too long he's ignored what he wants.]

Kitty... [He forgets what he was going to say. Instead getting lost in the kiss again. His hand finds the edge of her shirt and without thinking he slips his hand under the fabric. His fingers tracing their way up her back. Has her skin always felt this incredibly soft?]

[She's just doing what feels good in the moment. She can't think too much about it because she's already thought all the thoughts hundreds of times and they don't get her anywhere. The worries and guilt don't make her happier or better. They don't help the people around her and while none of that means she's done with it, it does mean for the moment she's content—more than content—to get lost with him in the kissing and the contact.

Life is both too short and too long to deny what you want.

Her lips skim down from his mouth, over his jaw and down his neck as she feels his hands on her skin.]

[As her kisses trail down his jaw line Vash is surprised to find that there are other spots just as good to be kissed as the mouth. Feeling her soft lips against his rough skin from decades spent out in the sandy desert.

As she moves down his neck he doesn't want to leave her feeling left out. He tries to lean his head to continue to kiss the places on her head that he can reach. His thumbs gently rubbing slow circles on her back as they expore.

It's when she reaches closer to the area near where his neck meets his shoulder that she'll be rewarded with a breathy laugh. His fingers suddenly spraying out on her back as Vash finds he does indeed still have a ticklish spot. The news is almost more a pleasant surprise then it is ticklish which is the cause for his reaction. She hasn't even gotten to the most ticklish spot yet either.]
