[ Aerith looks positively delighted when she sees the vegetables, pushing herself up and moving over to peer in. ]

They look good!

[Nami grins at the reaction, a little relieved.] They're my first batch. I'm more used to growing fruit, but I thought with so many seeds available I should at least try the vegetable garden idea.

[asphodels]

You grew them? [ She looks even more excited now. ] They're amazing! Can I cook with them?

[mikangirl]

I did! [She lifts the basket and sets it gently down on the counter.] And you can certainly cook with them. I was trying to get us some more healthy alternatives, so if you want to experiment, be my guest!

[asphodels]

Hmm... [ Aerith immediately leans down to get a better look. ] Is there anything you'd like?

[mikangirl]

I'm pretty partial to most fruit and vegetables. But, hmm. [She peers into the basket with Aerith.] There's good stew ingredients here. Unless we can somehow roast the carrots and potatoes, I'm not sure.

[asphodels]

We could try roasting the potatoes. [ Aerith tilts her head, tapping her chin. ] I bet I could try a stew as well...

[mikangirl]

Both sound equally delicious! [Man, she hasn't had a good roast potato in forever. But--] Stew would probably be more efficient for a crew this size. Maybe one special occasion we can all pitch in and have a roast dinner sometime soon.

[asphodels]

Hmm... Maybe you're right. [ Not that she sounds hugely disappointed, but she can make potatoes another day. ] Maybe next time we're at a nice planet we can get something special too.

[mikangirl]

Next place I'll see if we can find a decent side of meat that'll feed all of us. I'll have a few more veggies by then, I hope. [She considers.] Have you ever made orange sauce?

[asphodels]

Orange sauce... [ She frowns. ] No, I don't think so. Can you teach me?

[mikangirl]

Sure can! I have all the ingredients right here, too. It goes well on certain roasts-- something like duck would be good, if we could find it.

...just don't tell Biri.

[asphodels]

Yes! I'm excited. [ She has no idea who Biri is, but - ] Where do we start?

[mikangirl]

[He's the chocobo wannabe that haunts the Bloodsport's cargo bay. Part duck.]

You want to learn now, or wait until we've got some meat to put it on? [...] Though it also tastes nice on pancakes. May as well make up a batch.

[Welp. Time to put the vegetables away.] The main ingredient are the mikans themselves, of course. Then we add a bit of flour, salt, sugar... couple other things. I'm assuming we have those here. [Unless someone had a food fight recently.]

[ VERY CUTE. ]

I'll learn now! I can make some pancakes while you start on the rest, if you want. I know how to do those.

[ She steps over to start helping pack away all the new foods with a bright smile. ]

We have everything you need. I try and check everything each week.

[mikangirl]

Okay! Do we have vinegar as well? That's a little harder, but-- if not, I can find a replacement, probably. [She fishes out an empty bowl once the rest of the food is packed away.] In the meantime, I'll start peeling the fruit.

[asphodels]

I think so... [ She hums, considering as she moves around, peeking in the cupboards before - ] Aha! Will this be okay? [ It looks like vinegar from one of the planets, but... ]

[mikangirl]

[She takes the bottle and pops the lid, giving it a sniff before pulling back. Strong.] Yep, I think that'll do. If we were doing this for a savoury dish we'd also want some chicken broth, but given this is pancakes we'll leave that part out.

[A-peeling we will go! She keeps the rind in a neat pile to shred when she's done.]
