[The face of the pretty sword of the fleet comes on and he smiles pleasantly at the camera, bowing his head in a way that makes that wing-like hair sway like the flapping of wings.]

A good day to you all. After a welcome suggestion from one of the captains here, I have established a dojo aboard the Iskaulit. It is open and welcome for all but I do wish to mention that I will be offering lessons in swordsmanship here. Please feel free to come and use the space for your purposes.

[He tilts his head just a little.]

For those who have already asked for lessons, they are ready to begin. I look forward to seeing you.

[Another smile and he ends the transmission.]


Action - Dojo

[He has been rather pleased with his find here and has taken a number of days to make sure that the dojo is properly setup. Now it looks like a dojo one might find in Japan and he's even crafted some pieces of wood into practice blades which hang on the wall. Naturally there are a number of sizes since not everyone will be able to wield the same length of blade.

Today he is in a more simplistic outfit. A modified version of what his citadel attire looks like. Something he's put together after gathering some clothes from one of the systems. It will work well for teaching others to use a blade. And this is how one will find him when they walk into his dojo. Sometimes dancing as he waits, sometimes kneeling, sometimes practicing with one of the wooden swords for himself.

No matter how you find him, he will offer a smile in greeting. Welcome to the dojo...]

Yes, my life was important to enable them to live on. My being there allowed that. But my life was not important enough to me to allow them to perish when they were needed more.

There is no need to explain. I was only disagreeing with the fact that it seemed your life might not be worth something in comparison to their own. It was just as important as theirs but for a purpose that would support them.

Of course. We all know from a young age that death is inevitable. The Galra have the motto "victory or death". The Blades use "knowledge or death". I wanted mine to be of some use in the end. It seems that it has.

Victory or death. Knowledge or death. There is something quite final about both yet they still seem so appropriate.

It is very appropriate. We recognize even from a young age, there is a consequence to our actions and unfortunately it could be very final.

That is something important to teach children for there is wisdom in that despite the combative environment it seems your culture has become.

There is. Consequences exist. I and most Galra are raised on the motto "victory or death". I believe that is too harsh. Still gets the point, but some believe there are no mistakes allowed in that realm, no matter how small.

I can see why it would be harsh. After all, I see no shame in a loss. Much can be learned from such based on what I have seen of the world.

Of course. The Blades follow the belief "knowledge or death". Our leader has less control over us, spread over such a wide distance. He trusts that those undercover have the knowledge and capabilities to make the best decisions needed to get us information needed. Minor mistakes, he does not care about as long as the agent learns what he or she has done wrong and makes sure they won't do them again.

That is how all should learn in all honesty. One can better oneself this way. Grow stronger and better prepared.

It is. I would like to say that incapable of making mistakes. I would like to say that, but I can't. I know I have made my fair share of them in my life.

I am still new to this life of having a body rather than only being a sword. However, I am sure to make my own mistakes with enough time. It is something we are all capable of and it is what we do with that which matters.

You will, because like you said, it is something we are all capable of doing. Kolivan is many things, but he is more forgiving than most Galran leaders when it comes to mistakes. He wants us to be at our best and making mistakes early when the stakes aren't as high is what he would prefer.

It is an interesting thing, is it not? A mistake? It can both be good and bad. Powerful yet weak. Terrifying yet wondrous. It is really no wonder I have seen so many fight to avoid them.

They are. They are a leveler. Even the most experienced can make mistakes while someone new to a craft can succeed either through skill or luck.

We've always been a war-minded people, but I can't imagine at what point learning from mistakes was discouraged. Or perhaps the phrase was corrupted from its original meaning and that's what we see it as now.

If, as you as you have mentioned, that your race became corrupt many years ago then perhaps that was the time it changed. It would stand to reason that this time period lines up well.

Yes, if there was a point that it changed, that would be it. Given the era of relative peace, I doubt it could have been before then.

It is truly a great power to have brought such corruption. It reminds me of the creatures I fight in my world who wish to corrupt history as we know it.

Corrupt history? How were they doing that?

By returning to the past and stealing important documents or creating falsehoods to send key figures of history off to places to die too soon, they change how history will turn out for the present. It is our duty to stop this from happening.

That would create a problem. Extremely disruptive. It is a good thing to stop something like that.

Even if it is something that someone feels should be beneficial, it should be left as it is.

That is what we teach our young ones. They do not always understand the price of why we must stop this army while not changing anything ourselves.

Agreed. Personally, there are things I wish could be changed, but in the end, they must not be changed. It would disrupt the entirety of the universe if we did.

Yes. Even the tiniest string pulled can unravel a grand tapestry. That is what one must consider when even suggesting any sort of change. It is difficult but why we must let things be as they are.

It can. I doubt that would ever be a decision to be made in our world because I know of no such creatures. But I wish you luck in yours.
