[ The camera opens up on... Escha's little white hat on top of her head! But with a quiet, sheepish laugh, she adjusts the angle to her actual face. With a smile, she sits back, and waves at the camera. ]
Hi, everyone! I'm Escha, and, well, I'm still a little new here, so I don't know many of you - but for anyone who doesn't know, I'm an alchemist!
[ Which might be... slightly obvious, considering that in the video shot, you can see that she's surrounded by books, scattered notes (and pens), a few flasks filled with liquids, some jars full of items... Also, specifically, there are a few masks on the table beside her that she bought planetside, and a whole rack full of corked test tubes, with Mist inside. ... Yep, Escha went down there and scooped that Mist into test tubes. ]
And, well, I've been really curious about this mist on the planet! They use it like a fuel source, so I'd love to see if I can use it for some of the same things! And, even if I can't, maybe it has other properties that would be beneficial? I know it makes people... sick... [ Putting it lightly, much?? ] so maybe there's something I can make to help with that? Or! At the very least! Maybe I can improve on these mask designs using some other things we have that maybe the planet doesn't?
[ A pause... and then another sheepish laugh, and an embarrassed (but sincere) smile. ]
I'm sorry for rambling, I just got a little carried away with my enthusiasm. Anyway! If anyone has any ideas, or wants to help me, let me know! Maybe if we work together, we can figure out a whole lot more about this mist and this planet!

[Lucina is totally asking for a friend.]

I've made something similar before! But for getting rid of mist, fire doesn't work so well. I've made something like a portable tornado before too, but finding similar ingredients here is hard! I'm going to keep looking, though.
no subject
That's a shame. I wonder if wind magic would work well instead. [She'll have to ask Morgan what kind tomes he got from his "fans".] Escha, have you been spending a lot of time down in the mist by yourself?
no subject
[ At Lucina's question, Escha nods. ]
Well, not a lot of time... but I've been careful! I started getting a little freaked out and lightheaded once, but I haven't stayed in it long enough for the worst to happen... The truth is, I don't really want to go too deep into it all by myself, even though I bet there all sorts of materials hiding in the really densely misted areas.
[ Video game logic = conditional learning! ]

[This is how Lucina thinks: try a bunch of stuff until something works. Because something is bound to work.]
If you need someone to escort you and make sure that you're protected from whatever lies in the mist while you test your theories, you need only ask. I've been planning to go down and investigate a bit on my own.

G'morning, Escha. [His voice is a little mumble and gruff, and he's making an effort to be grumpy, as Vex has pointed out in the past that he is.] Wh--[a yawn interrupts him]--What kind of help do you need?
[A spectral hand carrying a steaming coffee mug comes into view in front of his face and he takes a sip from it before grabbing the mug and setting it on a table he's sitting at on the Red Fish.]

[ She cuts herself off with a squeak at the sight of the Mage Hand, but at least she doesn't make any more fuss over it - she's seen it before, after all. Not a ghost! Just magic! It's okay! Totally. Whew! She takes a quick, deep breath, clears her throat, and moves on. ]
S-Sorry. Um, well, I'd love any sort of help! I have some very basic thoughts about a few projects, [ Gonna tick off on her fingers as she lists: ] like improved masks, a concentrated poison, a concentrated antidote for the mist's effects - ideally one that acts really fast... Oh, or maybe other types of magical items! I can think of a few that start with bases similar to this.
[ Working with Percy is always great, honestly, no matter what form that takes. Even if it's just idea-pitching that leads to the two of them experimenting with their own stuff! ]
I have plenty of samples to work with, and I'm more than willing to share, of course. What sounds interesting to you? [ A pause... and a gentle smile ] Or do you need a little more sleep first?
no subject
No, sleep has lost its chance for the time being. [He takes another sip, longer this time.] The masks... I had--no, I have it here, I think. [He grabs the device and starts walking. There's a glimpse of the Mage Hand holding his glasses as he passes by but he ignores it for the moment.]
I've crafted one before, but I'd have to do some testing... No, I bet it it's nowhere near as sophisticated as anything I could have made back home. What are the masks you're working with?
[Meanwhile, the Hand finally floats to him and drops his glasses on his head as it disappears, the spell ending.]

These! [ She gestures to the ones on the table in front of her: one is very complex, yet still sleek in design - probably cost her a pretty penny. The other two don't look nearly as state-of-the-art, but they're still more than just a simple cloth strip. ]
I've taken them apart a few times already, and I can definitely say I've seen filtration systems like these before. I'm trying to think of ways to start making them even better... you know?
Oh, and I've never made a whole breathing mask from scratch before, but I'm sure I could it.

Good afternoon.

Good afternoon! Sorry, am I making too much of a mess in here?
[ 'cause yeah she knows it's a mess she's sorry sdjfksl ]

[He's smiling faintly, maybe a little amused that she's apologizing. It's so polite.]
I saw your message and came to offer a bit of information. Though I'm not sure how useful it might be.
no subject
[ Oh well?? ]
Oh! Thank you, that's so great! Any information helps! So you've been in the mists? Or...?
[ She's got pen and paper at the ready for some note-taking, heck yes! ]

... ... OH NO SHE STILL DOESN'T REMEMBER HIS NAME! But he definitely knows hers now! jfksdl gotta play it cool!! ]
With the mist, you mean? I will, I promise. As much as I want to keep exploring as far as I can, I know I shouldn't go too deep into it alone... At least, not until I've figured out a safer way to get around.
voice;
I'm just- just be careful. This isn't the first time a world's been poisoned and it's hurt people interacting with it.
no subject
It isn't? [ She frowns a little. ] What was the other place like? Was it the same mist stuff? ... What happened?

Is there anything I can help with? I don't know anything science-y or alchem-y but maybe my Quirk could be useful for testing stuff you make?
no subject
I think so! You can make things lighter, right? [ She still thinks that's so cool, her eyes light up just talking about it fjdskl! ] Do you think... maybe if there was some mist that was concentrated enough, could you make it lighter and maybe push it away?
[ It's a half-baked thought that only just occurred to her, but maybe it's a starting point! ]
no subject
[Wouldn't it be like touching millions of teeny particles at once? She's never tested her number limits before...]
no subject
But you're right, mist probably would be pretty hard to "touch"... Ohh! But something that pushes the mist away would probably work better if it's in the air instead of on the ground! Don't you think?

[Despite being very much the token Scientist, Flug rarely turned a blind eye to other Sciences bordering on the fantastical; living with an immortal creature from another realm inside of a possessed house tends to open ones eyes after that sort of thing.]
"I must admit, I was also curious about the mist's properties. Could you elaborate on that? What sort of alchemy have you performed in the past?"
no subject
Mhm, alchemy! Back home, I do synthesis and imbuing for the R&D division in my hometown. I wish I had the same resources here to work with... but I'm doing the best I can!
So to answer your question about the mist's properties, I haven't made as much progress as I'd like... I know that like normal mist, it's still mostly water. I've tried separating the other compounds from it, but they're really reactive and hard to isolate. There's also not a lot - so I guess an incredibly small amount of whatever it is goes a really long way!
no subject
[You can tell he means it too, by the excited gleam in Flug's eye.]
"By that logic we don't need to collect much. Even if we dilute the solution, the compound's potency might override the chemical make-up of anything we put it into-- well, provided it doesn't combust. That is what you meant when you said it was reactive, yes?"
[Not that experiments blowing up in his face are anything new when you design weapons for villains.]
"I could see how that makes it something sustainable for fuel."
no subject
Mhm, that's what I meant! But you're right, it's pretty prone to combustion if you get it concentrated down enough... I guess with that in mind, and with how the entire planet is covered with the stuff, it's no wonder it's used for fuel.
Oh, uh, what kind of science do you do, Mister...?
