[It's a party for a narcissistic redhead who likes to be reminded she's alive.  Come celebrate!  Alternately, come sneak in and steal the food!  There's a bar set up for drinks drastically lowered to cost-price or to-be-paid-later-tab, a non-alcoholic punch in case of wandering minors (spike it and Nami will end you) and random snacks.

Oh, and a pool.  Which is heated.  Kind of important, that part.

Step right up, I'm reliably informed we'll have Thor with his shirt off, take pictures while you can.]

[Years from now people will speak of this party in terms of shirt and after shirt. After shirt is clearly the superior portion of party.

[It's only fitting that his mythic grandeur grows in future tales, okay. Thor grins back, enjoying the novel party setting.]

This is a good idea for a celebration, is it not?

It is. [She gently paddles herself a little closer to him.] Suddenly having a swimming pool here was a much better surprise for when I came out of my coma than hearing about a planet getting destroyed. [And you can imagine the pool was no one's top story back then.] Unless you mean having a celebration for a birthday which...also a good call. More common. At least with humans. Maybe you get tired of it?

Such things are rarely a good surprise.

[He knows that well, though he manages not to dive headlong into melancholy over it. He moves on from the subject quickly.]

I don't get tired of it, but we don't celebrate birthdays that frequently in Asgard. We mark our lives in centuries more than years.

[She laughs.] Okay, you got me. That's hard for me to wrap my twenty-two year old brain around. [She's already three years older than she was ever supposed to be! Centuries, plural!?]

Is it weird for you hanging out with us?

Why would it be weird?

[He asks that automatically even though there are plenty of reasons why it should be. Reasons he himself knows! Thor just shakes his head.]

It's not like Asgardians don't have their own yearly celebrations. I just think of it as being more like that.

[She just raises an eyebrow when he asks why it would be weird.]

What kind of yearly celebrations? What's an Asguardian party like?

We celebrate the new year, much like Earth does. Our celebrations centre around feasts and music.

I guess those are hard to beat. What about copious amounts of drinking, regrettable make out sessions, and tacky decorations? Those are often the key to our celebrations.

The decorations of Asgard are the finest in the Nine Realms. But we do have those other two things.

[Just step off their aesthetics, they're a vain people.]

[She looks amused at that and she lifts a hand as if in surrender.] I would never want to slander the decorations of Asgard. What are the nine realms?

The Nine Realms are the nine worlds connected through the branches of Yggdrasil. [Though really... it's Eight Realms now.] Midgard - Earth is one of them. Asgard was another.

Yggdrasil? [Spell that.]

The world tree. It is the centre and connector of our realms.

Is this a literal tree?

[He smiles a bit at the question.]

It isn't one you can see the roots and branches of, if that's what you mean.

That can definitely be a big part of being literal and real. No offense to the invisible of course.

Given the scale of it, none of us can truly see what Yggdrasil looks like. We have representations of it in our culture but it's impossible to see it as a whole.
