[It's a party for a narcissistic redhead who likes to be reminded she's alive.  Come celebrate!  Alternately, come sneak in and steal the food!  There's a bar set up for drinks drastically lowered to cost-price or to-be-paid-later-tab, a non-alcoholic punch in case of wandering minors (spike it and Nami will end you) and random snacks.

Oh, and a pool.  Which is heated.  Kind of important, that part.

Right. [Kaname's expression is a little grateful to Nami. She knows Messer isn't the easiest to get along with, but she's glad her friend gets it regardless.]

He's managing. It's more inconvenient than confusing. I think it helps that if we take things from back home into consideration, I outrank him in a sense. [She shakes her head.] Not that I order him around... Simply, if things get messy, we know what rhythm to fall into.

Well, Xaos is a private military contractor in charge of Walkure and the Delta Flight. I'm the leader of Walkure, the tactical sound unit. He's second in command of the Delta Flight, our air support. While not exactly comparable, it does leave me higher up in the chain of command. I work closely with his direct superior and our ship's captain.

[She takes a small sip of her drink.] It's not particularly relevant here, but it's familiar to us in a way.

[Now she's more curious than ever.]

I'm getting the impression Waikure isn't exactly just a band, then.

We're not. Besides what I've mentioned about the Var, we're deployed to active battlefields when there's an outbreak. Messer and the Delta Flight serve as air support for us. Myself and the others have gone through military training... espionage, infiltration, combat... Things we've all needed at one point or another.

[Excuse her. Kaname smiles at Nami.]

I'm more than happy to answer questions, but do you really want to talk about this during your birthday party?

[Huh. Interesting points to keep in mind. She grins.]

I like learning. I mean, we could extol all my many virtues if you want, but this is more interesting.

Learning it is. [Kaname grins back. She's not left with much choice here.]

Well, I always want to know everything. But I'm not minded to interrogate you, if that's what you're asking. I'm just curious about the people I know generally.

[Plenty of choice! She can always change the subject.]

It's not an interrogation at all. There's just a lot I could cover, so narrowing it down might be tricky. I don't want to pick something that's not as interesting.
