[It's a party for a narcissistic redhead who likes to be reminded she's alive.  Come celebrate!  Alternately, come sneak in and steal the food!  There's a bar set up for drinks drastically lowered to cost-price or to-be-paid-later-tab, a non-alcoholic punch in case of wandering minors (spike it and Nami will end you) and random snacks.

Oh, and a pool.  Which is heated.  Kind of important, that part.

I'm really not worried about defending Thor's modesty. [ With an eyeroll, because really, there aren't that many people here with their shirts off that Ben would be interested in. ] Besides, it's not that big of a deal.

[ ...yes, Thor is very pretty, however the caliber of boy she has grown up with has also been... well... very pretty. A normal male chest is more of a rarity for Katara to see than a warrior male chest. ]

It's a big enough deal that you're still blocking my view.

[Ben may be making it a thing about Thor's abs, but it isn't his first time seeing some, and it won't be his last]

[ She pauses for a long moment and then makes an exaggerated step to the side, since her only other option is to lecture him about how gross ogling is. But she doesn't particularly think Thor minds, so she's just going to... turn and walk off. ]

[ She half turns around. ]

You didn't seem like you wanted to be distracted. [ So she'd annoyed you by standing in your way, but now it's over, so she's giving you back your space? ]

I've been talking and watching the whole time I've been here. I'm great at multi-tasking.

[ She's not really sore enough to walk off and leave him there, so Katara shrugs and moves to sit on the edge of a chair next to him. ]

[look, he isn't even watching Thor anymore. It was all an act! (Okay it was mostly an act, he was actually watching earlier). He tilts his head back to look up at her]

So other than this, what's up?

[ She shrugs a little. ]

Not much. [ ... ] Actually, today's kinda weird.

[privateeyed]

I mean, isn't technically every day in the place weird? [he's being technical] Why's today weird?

[ She rolls her eyes but then takes a breath to dive in. ] Today's weird because... at home, my birthday is the day right after the winter solstice. But then when we were in Luceti, Sokka figured out that the time to my actual birthday was the day after Nami's. There were charts involved, I don't know.

[ Shrug. ] So they threw this big surprise party the first year I was there and I just didn't argue. I kept my birthday the day after Nami's for the last three years, and... now I've got no idea what it is anymore.

[ Pause a beat. ] Not that it matters. I reached marrying age two years ago, so... [ Shrug. The rest is just numbers. But still, it'd be kind of nice to know... ]

[privateeyed]

Wait - so technically your birthday would be tomorrow? [THIS IS INFORMATION YOU NEED TO PROVIDE AHEAD OF TIME KATARA]

What's marrying age have to do with anything? Is that a big deal or something? [...] I mean, we could probably figure it out. When it is, I mean.

If I was in Luceti, my birthday would be tomorrow. It's... definitely not tomorrow. I think. How long have we been here?

[ She never keeps track of these things. ]

Marrying age just means - you've reached your majority. There's no real need to keep track after that, I guess.

[privateeyed]

Three months, give or take. So when would your birthday be, then? We could figure it out.

[his nose wrinkles]

What is that, like, legal adult age or whatever, then?

[ Katara nods. ] If you've gone through all the proper ceremonies, then yeah. Marrying age is adult age. Though... I can't imagine anyone marrying anyone who hadn't gone through the ceremonies, so I guess they're both important? Many people go through the ceremonies at fourteen, though, so I guess they're kind of... prerequisites.

[ She sighs a little. ] And I mean... I don't remember what day I was taken from Luceti, but... I think it was in December?
