[Maggie had been a bit preoccupied, to say the least, but now that she's finally starting to settle back into a somewhat normal - they aren't drifting, they've touched down a planet, things are less chaotic - she's decided to poke her head out onto the network.]
Hey, so I know everyone's busy with the new planet stuff but I was wondering if anyone could help me out with this girl?
[Maggie lifts the squirming pup into view of the feed.]
I picked her up on the last planet during the festival and haven't really had a chance to come with a name for her. If no one's interested in coming up with some ideas, I'm sure I'll think of something, but I thought I'd ask.
[A beat.]
While we're on the new planet - keep in mind to be safe, but should anyone need a Medical Officer for any excursions, let me know. If you don't know me already - my name is Maggie and I'm the First Mate of the SS Goldstone.

[He knows. He really, really knows.]
As for naming the poor creature, why not after someone from home? Or you could always name him after me. I would be flattered.
[Since he's king of the Dog Lords.]

[She asks, and yet she knows a quick check of the ship rosters will tell her who it is. Still, she smiles a bit at his suggestion.]
I'd have to get a name first before I decide a to name her after anyone.

[Too much bad blood with Tevinter. Obviously.]
And I suppose Alistair won't do if we're talking about a bitch. Hm... Maybe Marian?
[And wouldn't Hawke be happy to hear that he's offering her name for a dog? Not a mabari, but they can't all be, right?]
no subject
[She grins, clearly amused.]
Marian? Okay. I'll add it to the list.
[It sounded a bit old fashioned, but sure why not.]
It's nice to meet you, Alistair. What ship are you on?
no subject
[Anders is a menace when it comes to names. But, no one else is much better.]
I'm sure that Hawke would appreciate that.
[Look, most of the names in Ferelden would be considered old-fashioned to her.]
Oh, I'm Lab Support for the Blue Fish.
no subject
[She has no idea who Hawke is, but she still smiles and nods along with his talking about her.]
I'm Lab Support over on my ship too. There's another technician on my ship, but it's nice to meet others who run the labs across the ships. I don't really... reach out as much as I should.
[It's hard to get close to people when you've lost so many, really.]
no subject
[But isn't it better to name pets after people? Maybe?]
There's a healer on my ship, but she's relatively new. If she wanted the job, I'd be happy to share it, but so far, it's all mine. [Lucky him.] I'm a little bad about reaching out as well, so you're not alone there.

[She shrugs, making a non-committal sound.]
Even with so many of us, the space seems vast, you know? Sometimes it's hard to remember that until we start talking on the network. At least, for me it is.
no subject
[He nods her remarks.]
I will admit that it's taken me some getting used to with this whole network thing. Usually when one talks about networks where I'm from, it's in regards to spies and information chains.

[...]
Wait, you did say it's a girl, right?
no subject
[Oh man... some of these names are so cheesey, she has to laugh.]
I take it you've named pets before? Or just keep a list handy?
no subject
List is all up here. [he taps his temple] Nah, I just like simple shit. Got a girl back home named Lady and one here named Gent.

[She pets the dog off screen as she says this, filing away his name suggestions.]

[Maggie makes some vague hand gesturing measurement, lacking the actual panda in front of her.]
Most pets in the fleet are no bigger than a dog. I've heard of people having dragons, other crazy pets - stuff like that - but there were lizards and parrots on the last planet too so im sure there's plenty of those roaming around.
no subject
sorry for the extreme lateness - rl kicking me in the butt
[She adds, sensing his interest-]
I don't know about the dragons though. They might not still be here.
it's fine!
[a snort]
Figures. I always miss out on the really cool shit.
action;;
And he won't lie, it was nice to be around the little puppy. When he gets to the Goldstone, he takes his time looking for Maggie. When he finds her, he lets himself into the space. ]
She looks like a Sunny to me?
no subject
[She's mostly hanging around her room, bouncing a ball on the bed for the dog to catch. Both seemed to be enjoying it. When Carl appears, the pup makes a mad dash for him, tail wagging. Maggie makes to follow her but sits on the end of the bed instead, grinning ear to ear.]
Hm. Maybe. I haven't really named any pets since I was younger. The horses all had names, of course, but it's been a while.
[Oh, she misses the horses... her father's farm. This dog brought a little bit of that back to her. It was just so normal. Normal people had pets.]
It still amazes me how resilient the animals all are. You would think being up in space, with the altitude and what not, they would feel sick.
no subject
Maybe because they're not from earth? I dunno.
no subject
[Maggie shrugs, petting the puppy's back while Carl pet's the scruff of her neck. The dog was thrilled to have the attention, of course.]
How are you feeling?
[There's a note of hesitance when she asks, not wanting to dredge up anything too hard to talk about. She can't deny that she's been feeling guilty since what happened.]
no subject
[ He mostly keeps his attention on the puppy, but does move to sit next to Maggie so she can reach better. ]
Fever's gone, at least? [ Still not sleeping, dealing with hallucinations, and a general soreness, but he'll take fever being gone. ]
no subject
[She plays with her tail as she watches Carl and the puppy get to know one another. It's so nice and normal, that she can pretend to forget all the other things are happening right now.]
Good. Just- if there's anything I can do to help. Maybe I can come up with something to help with the side effects?
[She has no idea what they are, only that they exist. She's heard from someone else on the network, compiling a database about these things.]

[ He misses him, the companionship they had. How Codger would check on him at night and curl up with him on the couch. Playing with him outside, how he loved to chomp at the water out of the hose. Carl strokes the puppy's scruff, playing with her ears. She turns to chew on his hand and he honestly doesn't mind. ]
I um.. I don't really know. [ He's silent for a few long moments, debating on if he should say anything. ]
I've been seeing things..
no subject
[ SORRY NOT SORRY. ]
no subject
[She repeats, her face scrunched up in dislike and confusion.]
Daryl, has anyone ever told you you're terrible at naming pets?
[Probably Beth would have, she's sure. She smiles a bit, just thinking about it.]
no subject
[ He huffs a laugh. ]
Go classic. Killer?

[ audio ] ooc: sorry for the late have had a rough time with rl kicking my butt!!
[She laughs a bit.]
