Tried To Catch The Fog, But I Mist
Who: Ulaz and YOU
Broadcast: none at the moment
Action: Planet side, Iskaulit, Blameless
When: July
Bird Watching - Planet Side
[Ulaz had decided to explore this world. This one seemed particularly interesting. Especially after having one where all they cared about was competition... even with some of the stupidest thing. This one... seemed to fall into a different technological bracket entirely which intrigued him.
After not long, he discovered this game that they seemed play here, magnaball. Played using birds as mounts. He wouldn't try to play it himself - he was larger than the mounts these birds were used to so he wouldn't attempt it - but he had decided to watch at least a few of the games, standing near the back of arena where it was played. He had no problem with this vantage point, seeing that he was taller]
To The Mist and Back - Planet Side
[It was inevitable. Ulaz was going to check out the mist. He had his Blade of Marmora suit which was safe for space so it was worth the risk to try it. He did however pay attention to what the locals said the signs and symptoms of being effected by the mist were, taking them deeply to heart before he put on his mask and headed out. Of course alone. What else would he possible think of to do?
A short distance out into the mist and he was still doing well. He made sure to keep track of how far he was and how dense the fog was at that current point. Still it wasn't too dense.
Then he hit a patch of heavy fog and he felt it. Pretty much feeling exactly what he had been told about. He was too far into the mist and his suit could no longer hold it off. As quickly as he could, he turned and ran back for the city, knowing that he had to get out of there since his suit was compromised.
It seemed like it took far longer to get back than it had taken to get out, but finally out of the fog, he immediately took off his mask, leaning against a wall as he breathed heavily, hopping to clear it from his system. That stuff was not good.
And his suit didn't work for that. He'd have to get one of the other ones]
Augment Glitch - Iskaulit and Blameless
[Another thing that he hadn't known about the mist when he had gone in? It could do other weird things. After spending some to recover from his trip into the mist, he had gone to Iskaulit to attempt to do research in the library. Well, that had been the intention. What actually happened was an overwhelming urge to organize everything. Moving books that had been left out back into place, moving items around, even to the point the objects had to have a certain size order on the desk.
Even back on the Blameless, it continued when he felt the same urge to organize the kitchen. This was certainly not what he had been planning when he had started this...]
[Ulaz's augment is acting up thanks to his trip in the mist so now he has a temporary compulsion to organize things. Sorry if its not an organization structure you understand...]

[ It reminded Kirk a bit of an anti-grav sport he had played once, though the stakes had been quite a bit higher and made it harder to enjoy at the time. He was pleased to see the barely there smile, moving to stand beside him, though Ulaz still had at least a foot on him. ]
It's fascinating, and very daring. It's the kind of sport that would make super stars back home.
no subject
It is. Any sport that adds the element of falling some distance is and it takes people who both trust their animal and has very little fear of the sport. I don't think I've seen one that involved birds before.
no subject
It's rare that I come across worlds with birds big enough hold a person and fly at the same time. You think you'll try taking the land roaming ones out for a ride though?
[ He cocked his head up at his friend. ]
no subject
[He actually does consider that for a moment]
If there is one large enough, then I would be willing to try it. You?
no subject
Oh definitely. I think it'll be much easier to take a fall from six feet up than it is from twenty.
[ He nodded to the flyers. ]
I'm not afraid of heights, I just more prefer more control of the potential fall.
no subject
It has been a while since I've been in a position to do that so I don't think I want to chance it.
no subject
Yeah, the unplanned falls never go quite as one expects. Even the planned halo dives are a trip.
[ A bird swooped up close to the stands, sending a rush of air across them. ]
It does remind me though - when you're up for it, I have a... well, I guess a bit of a favor to ask you.
no subject
[The bird was closer to him than it was to Kirk, but he didn't even flinch when it came in their direction, close enough to cause a breeze.
When Kirk spoke again, he turned to look at him]
What favor do you have?
no subject
[ Kirk turned his head back up to gaze at Ulaz, quiet a moment as he put his thoughts together. It wasn’t a difficult ask per say, but it was personal. ]
Well, I was wondering if you might take me on as a patient so to speak. To be my doctor here on then Fleet.
Anders is a good medic, he is, but I’m not entirely comfortable using magic when it comes to some of my conditions. And some of my medical history is... complicated.
no subject
I would take you as a patient if that's what you want. We can talk more about your history later.
[Since he had specifically said it was complicated and this was a public venue]
no subject
[ At least he’s not confessing his love to you, though he does find you attractive. But all signs point to no in that direction, so he’s kept it trained back on the flirting. Mostly. He nodded in relief at the other’s reply. ]
Thank you, I appreciate it. It’s not necessarily anything I try to hide, it’s just takes a bit to explain. On top of the augmentations I got from Atroma.
no subject
Of course. It's also not the business of people you don't choose to give that information. The augments from the Atroma are another matter all together.
[He's grateful for the information they provided, but the augments were still a mystery to him]
no subject
Ah, what I meant was, I’ve had Atroma enhance me further. That’s something you can ask for, if no one’s told you. Can even get yourself powers if you want.
[ Which felt strange to him, but even so, he had asked for them and been granted said enhancements. It wasn’t anything anyone could see right off, but it could be felt in a battle. He’d certainly had time to test it in the arenas on the last planet and he could definitely say they were real. ]
no subject
[It does make him wonder what sort of abilities one can ask for with the Atroma. Without even asking he'd been given definite knowledge of human medicine, something he would have had to essentially make up as he went or get lessons from another in the lab support position without it]
What sort of enhancement did you receive?
no subject
I basically made myself tougher. Harder to break, I should say.
[ He paused, looking down at his hand for a moment. ]
We were on a planet, surrounded by things that wanted to hurt us, destroy us, consume us. I can fight. But compared to the rest of my crew - I was a liability. A liability in a time of crisis. I didn't want to be that again, so I asked for the upgrades.
[ He looked back up and huffed. ]
Sorry. You probably aren't interested in all that. But yes, basically I've reinforced myself, made myself more durable.
no subject
[Of course the idea of using the Atroma to do that... he's not sure about that. It seemed too much like magic and he had a healthy caution for that with Haggar and the druids. Besides, it took away some of ones ability to train and do it yourself. But he also hadn't been there to see the situation for himself and it was far more efficient in the short term]
If you felt that's what you had to do. It is good to know since that may come up in regards to medical treatment.
no subject
[ Oh, Kirk had thought long and hard before he did it. He hated it too. He really did. But he had weighed his discomfort, the potential unknowns, against being that liability that got someone killed. That got his crew killed. And his own personal misgivings didn't outweigh that real possibility. So, Atroma it was. Besides, as a human, his body could only take so much naturally. There was a limit to what he could achieve on his own, even with Khan's blood, and he needed to move beyond that. ]
There's a bit more I'll need to go over with you, of course, but those are the basics. Just - whenever you feel up to it. Besides, I want to see how this match ends.
[ He nodded towards the birds again. ]
Though to be honest I still don't quite understand all the rules.
no subject
Of course.
[Ulaz looks up at the match as well]
I don't understand it either. I'm sure if you grew up with it this would make more sense. For those of us temporarily here, there's no real point to trying to understand it.
no subject
No, I suppose not. Thankfully when it comes to game there seems to be one universal truth - whoever has the most points at the end of the game wins.
[ There's some exceptions. Like golf. But golf was weird. ]
no subject
no subject
Oh - I should introduce you to golf then. It works in reverse, because of course Earth would find a way to do that. But it makes sense once you actually pay attention to the rules.
