When: Upon arrival in the Yangur system, until next drift period (Keith will be in a coma from July 4th to 11th for canon update)

{OOC: The prompts are available for the entire time the Fleet is in this system. However, depending on the date you pick, you'll either get Keith before his update (before July 4th) or after his update (after July 11th). I'm posting this kind of late due to real life things that got in the way, but I'm open to backtagging if you want to do something pre-update! Just note it somewhere in your tag if you want pre-update, post-update, or if you want me to flip a coin for you. :)}

i. Mist Exploring

[Before July 4th, Keith attempted to explore the mist with his Paladin armor, fairly convinced that it's space-walk-worthy qualities would keep him safe from the effects. It didn't. He did the same with his Blade of Marmora suit after July 11th, and had the same failed results. See comment threads below for some of Keith's fears that might pop up, or create your own thread if you want your character's fear to show instead!

During one of the threads with his own fears, he will find the Black Bayard from home.]

ii. Veynar Hospital

[Guess who landed himself in the hospital pre-update after realizing his Paladin armor didn't completely stop the effects of the mist...

Guess who did it again post-update when he decided to attempt the same thing with his Blade of Marmora suit instead, and got the same results.

Yeah. Care to visit him? He might have ended up a little nervous from the resulting augment glitch (read: paranoid as all get out).]

iii. Kerrior Hawks

[When not landing himself in trouble in the mist, recovering from mist-induced crippling paranoia at the planet's hospital, or sleeping through a canon update coma, Keith discovered magnaball and kerrior hawks. He didn't attempt to play a game because that looks like it needs a lot of practice, but he definitely watched, and hit up one of the open training camps to give it a try because... riding a giant hawk... dude. How could you not?]

iv. Kite Flying

[And, in other recreational activities, Keith found that flying kites was actually pretty cool. Find him hanging out with the red kite (which happened to match the other Team Voltron kites), attempting to pull off fancy kite stunts. He was about 50/50 on crashing vs succeeding.]

[Keith let out a tiny little groan, and tilted his head down to bury his face into the crook of Lance's neck, just clinging to him and trembling.]

[If you're so good at protecting me, why couldn't you protect me from this?

It's Keith's voice he hears, and although the other boy hasn't actually said it, Lance doesn't know any better right now. With his face buried in his neck, he doesn't see whether his lips have moved or not. And even then, it might have not mattered.]

I'm sorry, Keith, I'm so sorry... I t-tried, you know I... I want to be your shield. I'm sorry I'm so bad at it.

[tempredmental]

[Keith didn't really notice that Lance might be answering voices in his head. He honestly just thought Lance was talking to him normally at the moment. He shook his head a little.]

It's going to get me anyway unless I'm careful. I don't think there's anything anyone can do.

[And then something clicked, and Keith snapped up again, staring at Lance's face in fear.]

I can't let it get you, too. Lance! You have to go! You have to go now while you still can! Before it comes for me!

[the_tailor]

I'm not going anywhere, Keith! I'm not... Please, please don't send me away, please don't!

[He holds him tighter, full on pleading now.]

[tempredmental]

But- but- it's dangerous, okay? If that thing from the mist comes here, it could kill us both. I don't want that to happen to you.

[Keith's voice started shaking.]

I'll protect you, no matter what happens. I have to. You're too important, to me, to everyone else... Please don't tell me to go. I have to do at least this.

[tempredmental]

I don't want it to hurt you...

[Keith clung to the front of Lance's hospital gown, burying his face in his neck.]

[the_tailor]

And you can't be hurt. Can't. I won't let you. I'll do everything, anything...

[tempredmental]

But it's coming, Lance. We can't stop it. It's coming for me... stalking... waiting... just... I don't want it to hurt you. You have to stay safe.

[the_tailor]

It won't. I'll make sure it doesn't get here. It won't harm you. I'll protect you.

[tempredmental]

I can't lose you. I can't. I'm tired of losing people.

[the_tailor]

You won't lose me. As long as you actually want me...I won't go anywhere.

[tempredmental]

I do want you. That's my point! [Keith pulled back again to look him straight on.] If you're here when it comes, then I might lose you for real.

[the_tailor]

[He shivers, trying to focus on his gaze, trying to convince himself of the truth in them.]

I swear to you, Keith, you will never, ever be without me. No matter what...even if you get tired of me...I...I want to fight to stay at your side.

[tempredmental]

But... what if it hurts you?

[Because there was no convincing Keith this thing wasn't coming out of the mist for him.]

I don't want it to hurt you.

[the_tailor]

[He shakes his head.]

It won't. I promise it won't.

[And even if it does, it's a small price to keep Keith safe, whether in mind or body or both.]

[tempredmental]

[Keith clung tightly to Lance, going silent for now. It just felt really comforting to hold on to someone without being scared of that person turning into the monster from the mist.]

[the_tailor]

It'll be okay, Keith. Promise... You're gonna be okay.

[He strokes through Keith's hair, focusing on trying to comfort him.]

[tempredmental]

[It was hard to calm down when the paranoia was augment-glitched into his head, but Keith was trying really hard. He breathed hard, trying to take deep breaths and slow himself down a bit, but he couldn't let go of Lance.]

And you're not... you're not gonna just turn into mist and disappear, right?

[Like the Lance in his hallucinations... the one that had been disappointed in him, seen him as a failure, and gave up on him... just like everyone else.]

[the_tailor]

Never. I'm never leaving you.

[Turning into mist and disappearing, huh... Looks like Lance hasn't been the only one suffering hallucinations.]

I can't. I won't.

[tempredmental]

[Definitely not... Keith watched the whole team walk away from him into the mist, angry and annoyed, leaving him behind, giving up on him. He clung tighter.]

You're not going to give up on me? I'm not broken. I promise, I'm not.

[the_tailor]

I know you're not.

[If anything, Lance was the one who was.]

I will never, ever, ever give up on you. You....w-won't give up on me either, right?

[tempredmental]

[Keith shook his head sharply, his face still pressed against Lance's shoulder.]

No. No. No, I won't. I don't give up on people like that. Not people I care about.

[Considering he very passionately yelled it at the rest of the team after yet another failed search for Shiro in the remains of that battle...]

Swear to me? I know I'm... I'm not that great at anything, but I want to try, I want to be useful to you... I'm afraid you're gonna realize that you made a mistake and saw something in me that wasn't there.

[tempredmental]

[Keith nodded. He wasn't in a great headspace at the moment to pull out a wonderful reassuring speech (not that he was really good at it normally anyway), but he took a few deep breaths and swallowed, trying to get himself under control enough to respond.]

I won't. I didn't make a mistake. I promise. I don't regret us at all.
