[The first thing to hit you when opening this video feed is the absolute wall of noise coming from it. There's a howling of wind and something more guttural that just rattles the eardrums. And yet Thor is still choosing to make a broadcast in the middle of this, evidenced by the way his hair and cape are whipping around in the video. He holds the communicator in one hand, shouldering an oversized axe with the other.]

Well, I've found the monster! [Oh, that's what that noise is.] It hasn't struck land yet but it's nearly here. The beast means to make a meal of this place, and I don't intend to let it. Any who wish to join me ought to head for Zifra island - it's about ten miles north of Veynar. It's not inhabited at least.

[Another huge roar shakes the feed, Thor glancing over his shoulder at the encroaching dark clouds.]

Oh, it's keen. [A laugh follows.] But it'll find this meal hard to swallow.

[With that the video flips wildly as Thor tosses the communicator aside. It rolls to a stop on the grass, tilted image showing Thor running off towards the storm before he jumps, flying off the ground entirely with axe held aloft. The feed clicks off.]

[Anyone who heads to Zifra will indeed find the mist monster there, taller than the hilly peaks and arms wide enough to catch it in a terrible embrace. Only it hasn't gotten that far yet. Instead it's trying to swipe at Thor, who keeps hurtling around it at high speed and slamming lightning bolts into its claws when they get too close to the island.

A monster this size will need attacking from multiple angles. Time to throw your hat in the ring?]

[her lips twitch at the tiny comment, despite her best efforts, and she nods at his question] I may. It depends on how long it remains solid after I hit it. If I manage to.

[He's flung small people around before and also caught them. He's experienced.]

If you drop I can get you before you fall too far below the island's level.

Hmm, all right. Don't let me die, okay?

[she says, but she completely trusts Thor to catch her if it comes to that. She wouldn't ask him to throw her in the first place if she didn't think he was capable. He's Thor]

[It occurs to Thor belatedly that he ought to ask Baku what exactly she can do. These are the kinds of things that he would ordinarily ask, if there wasn't a monster bearing down on them. But there was a monster, and it's one of those days. She seems confident enough - that's enough for Thor to make up his mind. He nods before hefting up his axe again, holding out his other hand to Baku.]

Grab hold. I'll get us in closer before we make our move.

[normally she'd likely do something similar - or at least offer what she's capable of - but well, maybe another time, or afterwards. She takes Thor's hand, grip firm]

Mmm, good idea.

[Thor grabs hold of Baku's hand firmly and from there it's only a moment before they're suddenly hurtling upwards into the sky, the power of his hammer hauling them along as easily as feathers. The monster, at least, is a singularly easy target to find. It's huge.

It seems best to go in directly for the kill, so Thor changes directions and flies in a beeline towards its head. When they're a few hundred metres away, it's go time.]

Ready! [And he hurls Baku forward, straight at the creature.]

[she's also fond of the direct approach, and her grip adjusts on her sword accordingly as Thor changes direction. At least she has experience in this, albeit it hasn't happened in a hundred years or so - and she wasn't this small, and - well, details.

Her aim is to do as much damage as possible while she has her chance, and she impales the sword into the monster's head as soon as it's close, letting gravity do the rest. It works for a few seconds before the monster goes intangible again and she starts to fall.

Hopefully it doesn't swat her. She really doesn't want to go through a mountain today]

[Thor isn't so callous as to rush off without seeing that Baku lands her strike. He finds himself impressed as her small shape whizzes in and stabs deep into the monster's skull. A worthy blow.

As the mist drops Baku through the monster he dives downwards, speeding towards her with an arm outstretched. Thor catches hold of her by the back of her shirt before she's fallen more than a few seconds, a sudden arrest that might jar. But it's better than plummeting, right?]

A good hit!

[Thor said he'd catch her, so there's no yelping or flailing as he flies in to do so. At least, there's only a minor yelp as he grabs her in his fly by]

Thank you! Should have gone for the eye, I think. [in hindsight. Or maybe the chest. Do mist monsters have hearts? Who knows]

[The monster is still bellowing behind them, though Thor changes course and flies back upwards to get out of range for now.]

[He continues upwards at breakneck speed until he reaches some apex and slows. Now the monster is beneath them, still trying to lash out with its claws. It's too far down to reach them.]

Right - a straight shot downwards should do it.
