[Not talking about bad experiences it is! Pavel can respect that.

He can also forgive Vash's awful manners since his enthusiasm is rather rewarding. Who knew that a little research and a run to a convenience store would have such a payoff?] I will be sure not to. [That's probably not true.] So the rumor that you like these are true?

Mmhm! Who doesn't love a good donut? [He bites into another one and holds the bag out towards Pavel.] Want one? [He's actually not the worst at sharing when he's not personally trying to piss someone off.]

It would be rude to refuse. Thank you. [He helps himself to one since he has never not wanted a donut in his life.] These are good--not as good as the ones at home, maybe, but that's to be expected. Donuts originated in Russia, you know.

[goldenglasses]

Did they really? I had no idea! [He looks at Chekov with a new sense of awe and respect.] So where you're from invited vodka and donuts?! [WHY WASN'T HE RUSSIAN! Oh yeah, that born out in space and not human thing.]

[Pavel is a bit taken aback when Vash goes and believes him. Doesn't everyone know not to take him seriously when he's talking about Russia's accomplishments? WHAT DOES HE DO NOW?]

Well... the pyshki in Petersburg are a little different. Lighter, and more crispy. Maybe we will find something more like them on our travels.

[It doesn't help that Vash had only a limited study of Earth so he doesn't see any reason for what Pavel says to not be true.] If you do find something like it I would love to give them a try.

[Aw, donuts are gone. It's so sad!]

[It's going to be a real challenge, but he will try very hard not to abuse Vash's lack of Earth knowledge.] You will be the first person I come to with donut-related discoveries, I promise.

[Since things are going quite well and Pavel doesn't feel as awkward around Vash as he had anticipated after learning that he's seeing Kitty, it seems like a fine time to potentially ruin everything. Why not!]

If I may ask... how is your romantic venture going? [Not something he would ask if he knew that Vash knew about his own history with Kitty!]

[It's a good thing that Vash had finished eating his donuts. He nearly chokes on the air alone as Pavel asks his question.]

Oh. You know... it's going. [Guess who has been told.]

[Since Pavel is a fairly observant person, he notices that. He's a little hurt that, judging by his reaction, Kitty evidently told Vash something.]

Ah. [That wasn't a good answer, Vash! He actually does want to know!] You're both happy...?

[You mean she told him something like who Pavel's crush was?] Yeah, I think so. At least I hope she's as happy as I am. [Is that rude? To say he was happy? When he knew how Pavel felt?]

[Girlfriend-in-another-universe-that-she-doesn't-remember, excuse you!]

Good! Good. I hope that she is as well. [Not when Pavel is the one who asked! He might be miserable, but he'd like confirmation that other people are not.]

B-But what about you! How have you been? [Can they move on!?]

Ah, fine. [Moving on, right!] I had a much easier time in the last system than many, I think.

Smart enough to stay out of the mist, then? Because I wish I had been.

[candothat]

Not that smart, but we were very prepared.

[goldenglasses]

Did you find anything in the mist? I heard some people did. [After his botched rescue mission Vash didn't dare go back into the mist.]

I did not, no. [Something that he is trying not to analyze just in case it means something.] But I also didn't get killed, so overall I consider it a success.

Yes, not getting killed is probably priority number one on my list of important things to consider something a success. In that I'm glad we both passed.

Only probably? [It's more of an amused rhetorical question than a real request for elaboration. Not that Vash isn't welcome to elaborate!]

As am I. [He probably shouldn't press given the awkwardness that has already happened in this conversation, but...] You are alright?

[Vash gives a small, awkward wince.] Yeah, I'm fine. I hope I didn't worry you. Or, ah, well, scare you.

[So many people tend to leave once they find out what he's capable of.]

Worry, yes. It takes much more to scare me.

[Try harder to be scary, Vash.]

[Vash smiles. Although it's not quite a full one. Partly due to the fact that he hates to talk about these sorts of things in general, but also partly because he's not sure Chekov would feel the same if he was face to face with his power. It was still nice to hear regardless.] Well, I am sorry for worrying you.

I'm alright now. Really.

[We'll see about that! No hopefully not.]

Good... and if you are ever less than alright, my offer to listen still stands. [Although they should probably steer away from relationship talk.] The offer to drink, of course, always stands.
