How about chores then? [Because there's got to be some stakes to be interesting.] Or dares.

[Hmm, that could be handy.] Only on board, or at the bar as well? [Dares? Meh, less interesting, but getting out of washing dishes, much better.]

I suppose that would depend on how good you think your hand is. [He says this with a wink. Meaning; yes. He was willing to bet work at the bar too.]

[cajunspice]

'm hands be 'mazing', thank ya very much. [Yes, he knows that's not the topic, but he can't help but make that bad joke.] Ok then, how this, let's start with two nights of clean up after shift.

[goldenglasses]

[Vash bites his tongue to keep himself from laughing at that terrible joke.] I think that sounds like a good ante to me. [Vash finishes shuffling and sets the deck in the middle of the table.] Care to give it a cut?

[cajunspice]

Think I can do that. [And he won't even try and cheat. This was for fun, after all, nothing serious or really at stake. Plus, it was a nice way to burn up time. Reaching out, he cut as requested before leaving them back in Vash's care.] Ya a gamblin' man back home?

[goldenglasses]

When the need arises I could be. [Vash will also do his best to not count cards tonight. The game of chance can be fun.] Nothing like wondering if you're going to eat that night depending on if the cards like you or not. [He starts to deal out the cards.] Luckily that didn't come up too often at home.

[cajunspice]

[There's a slight tilt of his head and a raised brow in agreement.] Fun times. [Remy never had to worry about that as an adult, but as a kid he hadn't been skilled in cards yet. Plus who would gamble against a kid?] Will give it to this place, at least we don't gotta worry 'bout the basics.

Even if the basics that they supply may not always taste the best. I'd still rather have them then nothing.

[cajunspice]

That be true, [Remy answered as he lifted his cards to see what they were, shifting them around in his hand into the order he wanted them to be, trying to ignore those instincts to play up an act or try and misdirect. He would have to keep reminding himself it was just a friendly game.]

I haven't had to worry 'bout it for 'long time now, but ain't fun havin' to live day by day.

I don't know, living day to day can be exciting now and then. So long as you know where and how to get enough food each day. At least, it makes you thankful when you do find it.

[Vash gives his cards a quick glance.] Alright, how about a lunch time dish-washing duty to start with? [At that's a slower shift and usually less to clean. Seems like a good starting point for Vash.]

[cajunspice]

Be a way to look at it. [As an adult, yeah, as a kid, less so.]

Well, I did already boast 'bout uppin' it to two days right away, 'nd I would hate to go back on m' word, so will raise ya to two. [Not a bad start at all, unlike the rush of dinner and wanting to escape work later in the night.]

[goldenglasses]

Two lunch duties? Yeah. I'm happy to call that.

[As he's calling Vash goes ahead and deals out a couple more cards face up. Then sits back to consider the new possibilities that his hand has. He smiles in amausement as he does.] You can quit anytime you want. No shame in it. [Please quit. His hand is crap.]

[cajunspice]

[Remy raised a brow at that comment, finding it a very quick change in tune, and managed to hold back most of the smile he wanted to give to that.] Oh yeah? Ya think I don't stand a chance compared to ya cards? [His own weren't great, but he was certainly more willing to gamble with Vash's reaction.]

[goldenglasses]

Nope. I'm giving you a friendly chance to back out now. I check.

[cajunspice]

Very kind of ya. [If Vash's tell is always this bad... how did he ever feed himself? Unless... it was an act. Hmmm.] Check. [No reason to start off aggressive and upping the stakes too much. There was no fun in that.] What ya got?

[When he was playing for a meal Vash's tell is usually very obvious. At least until he had a real good hand and robbed everyone blind.

This time though he's just playing for fun. So he's goofing around and honestly doesn't have much this time.] A pair of fives?

[cajunspice]

Two eights. [Not a great start, but was enough to win the hand.] 'nother hand? Double or nothin'?

[goldenglasses]

Oh yeah. I can't let you just walk away winning can I? At least, not that easily! [Vash starts to shuffle again.]

[cajunspice]

Oh yeah? Let's see if Lady Luck be on ya side this time then. [And there was a sly grin to go with that. It was quite a different game when Remy wasn't cheating at it, he normally had good luck on cards, but he also typically helped that luck along to a winning hand. This was much more up to luck than skill.

Pulling up another seat with his foot, Remy shifted both feet up onto it. May as well settle in and spend a bit of time just having fun. Cards was always a wonderful way to pass the time. Or at least until their bids got too big and out of control for what the loser had to do. Either way, not a bad way to spend the day.]
