[This man couldn't be insincere if he tired, she thinks. He just has that sort of face. Like Chuck back home.]

You know Kaname, of course! [Of course the cute girls with beautiful voices and whimsically-colored hair know each other.] You must also cure disease with singing.

That's funny about it? You seem like a very capable communications officer.

[Well, if he wants to do that, she certainly won't stop him. It's really the first time she's ever lived in close quarters like this. Especially coed.]

For the last four years, yes. And I do. We're part of the same group. She's the leader and I'm the lead vocalist. Alongside Freyja, who I understand was here before as well.

[She smiles warmly at his comment. Obviously someone who doesn't know her.]

Back home, I was called the Mysterious Venus because I never answered questions about myself. [She didn't have the answers, but that's not important.] That's why I find it amusing.

I did not have the opportunity to meet Freyja, but I know Kaname a little. I'm glad that she has someone else from home here, and that you have her.

Fortunately, that kind of communication is almost never required on the bridge. Off of it, though, you will likely meet people who will want to know about you. Just to warn you.

If she returns, I promise to make sure that you get to meet her.

[The Apple Girl is near and dear to Mikumo's heart. Kaname's too. So, if he keeps coming around, he's sure to learn more about her and the others, if nothing else.]

[She chuckles softly at his request to ask for her name.]

Of course you can ask. But isn't it polite to offer your own name first?

Sorry, yes, of course! I'm Pavel Andreievich Chekov.

Well, Pavel Andreievich Chekov [and she's really careful to parrot it back to him exactly as he said it to her], my name is Mikumo Guynemer, lead vocalist of Walküre and the Communications Officer of the Twin Roses. Welcome to my domain, as it were.

Mikumo Guynemer, [also carefully parroted, if more accent-mangled than her go at his name] it's good to meet you.

Your domain looks very similar to mine on the Tourist.

[While it's not perfect, his pronunciation is charming. He is, in fact, intriguing Mikumo more than her own shipmates, who've lost some of their initial charm.]

Ah, that explains why you're here in the first place. Have you come to check out the facilities here to stake them out?

[He'd be flattered to know that I guess?]

Stake them out? No, I'm only nosy. I find all of the communication stations that are not the one that I'm meant to be at more interesting than mine.

[It's too early for easy flattery. He's going to have to earn that.]

I hear that curiosity killed the cat. And since there are many felines on the ships, you might want to avoid too much of that.

It's a silly expression. Curiosity is a healthy trait and has only endangered my life... [a pause] ...once? Possibly twice. A statistically insignificant number of times.

[Mikumo stands up and gets a bit closer to him to test out a theory.]

Of course curiosity is healthy. And it should be nurtured, Pavel Andreievich Chekov. But perhaps I don't want to share the secrets of my Comms array with a virtual stranger. You might touch something the wrong way.

[She places her hand on his bicep and gives him a coy smile.]

And I can't have that.

[He's profoundly confused. Is she... flirting? Pavel isn't always great at identifying flirtation, but this looks a lot like flirting and he doesn't know what to do with that.]
