[ you can't do that right now. ]
Who: Belthazar and you!
Broadcast: Y
Action: The Goldstone.
When: After the shuffle
[action; bridge]
[This is kind of old hat to Belthazar by now, but he's still startled to be deposited on yet another ship. He hasn't been on this one before. Two long pointy ears stick straight out of his messy hair, just as strange as his glowing eyes. It's weird to have all his memories suddenly there, and he's a bit disoriented by that.
He also hates dealing with change. Dreadfully so. He takes a moment to straighten his collar and regain his composure.]
It appears I'm your new cook. You're welcome to the pudding, but a word of warning: even rats won't eat that, if given the chance.
[action; kitchen]
[One of his first acts as the new cook is to completely reorder the kitchen. However people were eating before, that is about to change. Walking in, it looks like something out of Matilda-- flour, sugar, and starch all marching along to their assigned spaces in the cupboards; pots and pans neatly slotting together and sliding into yet another cupboard; and the beginnings of a stew simmering warmly on the stovetop. Belthazar dictates all of this with one hand while the other measures some spices into the broth.
Whatever he's making smells really good, but the cook himself doesn't seem to notice anyone else walking in. He's a little too engrossed in enchanting the colanders and cake pans.]
-----
[broadcast; video]
[Once he's had dinner started (because Light knows these people have probably never had a decent meal in their lives), he sorts out his new room and his personal shopping list. If he's going down to whatever planet they're docked at, he wants to make sure he gets the necessities-- cooking utensils, meat for the freezer, fresh vegetables, spices, and whatever else they can possibly grow on their own.
As always he's doing twenty things at once, but he pauses because he really needs to see how much time has passed and if anyone he knows is still here. He fidgets a little with the device until he can turn it on again.
He hasn't grown up too much since he was last here, with a healthy amount of baby fat still in his cheeks, but his eyes are a bright gold instead of their old radioactive green.]
My name is Belthazar. I was here, once, but between all the time that's passed at home and coming back, I haven't figured out how long it's been. The food still tastes like a different four-letter word, so I suppose things haven't changed all that much.
... I feel as if I'm waking from a very long dream, but I'm not sure which one's the dream. [He runs a hand through his bangs.] Er, right, my list. [He fumbles a bit with a pen and paper and tries to pretend he isn't a graceless creature.]
Does the Iskaulit still have a greenhouse? And, is there a place in this system where I can shop for a kitchen?
[He has more questions, but food is always a good place to start.]

[Katie, you liar. But really, she's chiming in to be completely tactless out of curiosity.]
What happened to your eyes?
no subject
Ah, my eyes... [He scratches at his cheek.] Elven eyes take on the characteristics of the magic that nourishes them. We were corrupted by demonic energy for a while, but the revived Sunwell is full of arcane and holy magic, so it's started to purify everything around it. It's taken a few years.
My eyes used to be blue, believe it or not.

It's a very specific kind of green. Nature magic tends to be a bright green like new leaves. But felfire looks like it smells-- yellow-green and putrid.

Look who decided to show up again after so long.
[His tone betrays the words themselves; he's tickled to see you, buddy. Though the eyes are very curious.]

Mikleo. It doesn't feel all that long for me, so I'll have to take your word for it. Everything's trickling back rather slowly, all things considered.
Are you well?
no subject
Well enough, I guess. The things that matter are fine.
[Half his family is here, Sorey's awake, they have good friends here, and he hasn't died lately. That's pretty good.]

Depends on if you're an embarrassment or not. [That's teasing, he'd never do that.] Did you break something in your own body or otherwise?

[When he replies to Belthazar, it's with his trademark smile.]
I don't think we have a greenhouse anymore. Have you been here before?
no subject
[He nods at the question. This kid doesn't look familiar to him, but Belth isn't exactly the kind of person with a lot of human contacts. They're sort of on the other side of the war.]
I have. I think I was here over a year, maybe two years in total? It's difficult to keep track of everything once you've gone to sleep and woken up older a few times. This isn't the first time I've been taken away from my world, either.
In short, Atroma has no original ideas, ever.
I SWEAR I REPLIED TO THIS DW ATE MY TAG
[It runs in the family.]
Two years is a long time, though! You must've seen a lot when you were here.
now that i'm not DYING... hello u
[ Hey there, shorty, have a redhead on your screen, red eyes wide with disbelief. He maybe looks a little bit more weathered and worn since last you saw him (the Plane will do that to a person) but that's still the same flamebrain. ]
You-- It's... You're back?
[ Goddess, he's almost afraid he might be wrong, like his brain is playing tricks on him, or maybe Atroma is, or... any number of things. ]
im dying anyway the west coast is literally on fire.
Eithan! Eithan, I'm so sorry, I broke my promise. I'm so, so sorry.
[Wait, they can talk about this in person now. They probably should.]
I-I'm on the-- the Goldstone, but I can come to you. Let me come to you--
i actually saw the sky again today it was an augustmas miracle
Broke your-- Hold on, Belth, slow down--
[ Right. Yes. In person. That would be much better. His smile doesn't falter at all - he's way too happy to see him. ]
-- Yeah, 'course, I-I'm still on the Blue Fish. Haven't gone anywhere. Please come.

Welcome back.

This place has some... terrible memories associated with it, but I owe much to the people here regardless. I had family here. I still do. It trickles back slowly but steadily, like molasses from a cup.
There were fewer ships, once.
no subject
There were also more. My Windrose is gone, and the Three Twins; the Twin Roses has taken their place. In a way it's a comfort to know the residents aren't the only changeable aspect of the situation.
Isn't it odd, how you can miss something you've forgotten?

He watches this for a long moment before, without announcing himself otherwise says--]
I could use organizing skills like that in the library.

Light! [He stares at his visitor with wide eyes for a second, ears pinned back, and then he finally remembers himself.] How long have you been standing there?
[Wait, didn't he say something--]
Library? [!!!!] Wait, I think I remember... Is there still one on the Iskaulit?
