A Glitch in the Matrix
Who: James Tiberius Kirk and You!
Broadcast: Yes
Action: The Tourist + The Iskaulit
When: Today (August 9, definitely after the races)
[ video ]
[ When the video starts, it shows a very confused looking teenager. His hair is long and shaggy, desperately in need of taming, and there might even been a smudge of dirt across his nose, blending with his freckles. But those eyes - maybe those eyes are familiar. Bright, bright blue.
As it is, the boy is frowning some, chewing for a second on the corner of his lip before seeming to remind himself to look tough. ]
So, you know, this seems a little extreme. I didn't think you could ship kids off world for taking a joy ride.
[ He glowers in the patented petulant manner of all teens, awaiting his answer. ]
What kind of transport ship is this anyways? I thought the government could afford better than a tin can.
[ action - tourist ]
[ He has figured out he can leave his room. Which... looks like it was meant for someone else, if he was honest. He had poked around, but none of the items looked familiar or made much sense, even if they were interesting.
So the Tourist would have a small blonde child wandering the halls, poking his head into rooms, and spending most of his time in the kitchen, or with the slugs - sometimes both. He didn't know why slugs would be on a ship, but they were cute, so why not hang with them? ]
[ action - iskaulit ]
[ Now, of course any enterprising young man would be able to find the shuttles and find a way over to the Iskaulit. Which is a far better adventure than his boring old ship he was placed on. He'll be poking around all the different rooms, especially having his fun with the obstacle course even if it was definitely not made for someone his side.
Is that his head poking into your space? Oops, hello, he's not sorry. But you might get a wave. ]

action - iskaulit; let's pretend this isn't forever late
Even though he was reading, he was always alert and when he heard the sound of someone else in the library, he looked up. There was a boy nearby, a boy he had never seen before, but he was also getting the feeling that he had at the same time]
Hello.
[He didn't move to stand or anything like that. He was aware being Galra was not something people were used to here and this human was very young]
Right on time! Also pretend that icon is a teen Kirk
[ The boy turned bright blue eyes on the Galra. They widened a fraction, though it didn't seem in fear, but rather in fascination at seeing the tall purple creature seated at the table. Kirk clutched the book he had taken in his hand - a scientific volume, because even back then he had enjoyed the subject - and made his way a little closer to Ulaz. ]
Hi. You one of the passengers too?
[ Because by now he had gotten the idea that 'crew' was a strong word for anyone here since no one had any idea what was happening. ]
I see a teen kirk icon yep
I am. My name is Ulaz. You are?
[He would have argued they were at least technically a crew. They had assigned duties and ranks. However, the end game was not known which was making that difficult]
Re: I see a teen kirk icon yep
Jim Kirk.
[ He looked to the other side of the table and set his book down, taking up the seat across from Ulaz. ]
Ulaz... what kind of name is that? I mean, you know, what kind of alien are you?
[ Teenage tact at its finest. ]
no subject
[Yep, that tells him right there this is the captain he's met a few times in the fleet. He must be having a glitch that turned him younger like Keith, but he didn't seem to remember the fleet at all]
It is Galran. I am a Galra.
[Yes, he can see that. Wonderful tact there]
no subject
Galra? I've never heard of that before. Are you new to the Federation? What are you doing here?
[ He leaned forward, clearly intrigued, and unafraid. So, not to very different from his elder version. His questions just seem to come a lot more rapid fire and a little less organized. ]
Is every Galra has big as you?
[ Look, to a little thirteen year old, you're quite tall, Ulaz. ]
no subject
I suppose you could say yes, I am new to the Federation.
[Whatever the Federation is. He's going to ignore that second questions as the eager teen asks another one]
Not all. Most of them. Some of them are even taller.
[He knows he's tall. Coffee mugs here just feel silly to him]
no subject
What about your skin color? Are you all purple?
[ The eager teen is close now, staring up at Ulaz with bright, sparkling eyes, enraptured with the entire encounter. ]
Are you okay in this lighting? You don't seem to have pupils...
[ He chattered on, firing off question after question about the Galra's physical attributes. You can stop him any time Ulaz. ]
no subject
[He is very close, but as long as he is not put off by Ulaz's appearance, there is nothing to be concerned with. Not like Ulaz was dangerous to anyone - unless they themselves were a danger]
I have no problem with the light. Some of us have them and some of us don't.
[He's not too concerned about the questions yet]
no subject
[ Kirk makes the amazed sound of a teen who has learned something terribly fascinating, and for him, he has. He looks down at Ulaz's hands, so much bigger than his own and he holds up his own, fingers splayed. ]
Can I see how big your hand is?
[ He had always been curious about alien physiology. They didn't cover much of it in school, just some basics and reasoning in biology, but not very in depth. Having the chance now was one he didn't want to pass up, though that did make him forge this manners some. ]
no subject
Of course.
[With that he raises his hand so that Kirk can see the size of it]
no subject
[ Kirk pressed his palm to Ulaz's, his eyes widening a little further at the size difference. Ulaz could have completely engulfed his hand if he wanted to. And he felt warm. Kirk wasn't sure why that was surprising. It felt rough too. Like he worked with them a lot. ]
What do you do for a living, mister?
no subject
I am a doctor. Surgeon more specifically, but I can handle less complex medicine as well.
