2nd Chant - Attack of the Dog Lord
Who: Alistair Theirin and you
Broadcast: no
Action: SS Blue Fish and the Iskaulit
When: August 9th - end of the month
Hair of the Dog - August 9th to August 24th
SS Blue Fish
On the morning of the 9th, the Blue Fish is going to be a little rowdier than normal as two very familiar looking dogs run around the ship. Accompanying them is an unhappy looking snow leopard that isn't able to fully outrun the bigger beasts. The amount of barking, hissing and running is unusual as they prance around the entirety of the ship, especially outside the room of a certain mustachioed mage.
Maybe someone should page their owner. :)
SS Iskaulit
Free of the confines of the smaller ship, Alistair-the-Mabari finds that running around the larger ship is fun. He spends time outside of the pool, the now abandoned mountain grove, the bars and restaurants. He is lugging around a ball, covered in drool. But anyone adventurous enough to try and approach him will be roped into a very vigorous game of fetch.
Come on. Don't you want to play with the happy doggo?
August 25th
After over two weeks of being a happy mabari, Alistair's augment rights itself and he's back to a person, but it's time for a rather long nap. No matter what anyone does, he will continue to sleep. And as he does, his face will get leaner and lines will start to form around his mouth and eyes. His hair will get darker from lack of sun. And anyone who sees him without a shirt on will notice there are more scars on his chest and arms than before.
[OOC: Hi, everyone! Alistair is going to be a doggo for a while before getting a canon update to the end of the comics. He will wake up on the 1st of September, but until then he will be having fun with Kiter and Riona.]

Blue Fish
The plural certainly caught her attention.
Confused and a little concerned, she heads back to the ship, messaging Alistair and asking him what was going on. Surely he'd have called her if the animals were getting so out of hand? It wasn't like she was off doing something important that required not being interrupted. Did he have to leave suddenly? Then why didn't he tell her? And what was Kiter doing anyway that was causing such a ruckus?
The questions rattle around in her head as she parks the shuttle and steps off into the loading bay. She beelines for the upper level, one part concerned and one part perturbed. That's when she hears the racket, and her annoyance ratchets up. "Kiter!" She whistles immediately afterwards.
A moment later, he barks in greeting. As Riona rounds the corner, she comes across Doglord, looking more than a tad ruffled. But before she can even ask him what's wrong, the answer comes to her in the form of Kiter running up to her... and he's not alone. That is most definitely a second mabari with him, and there's no sign of Alistair.
"What in the... Kiter Cousland Theirin." Oh boy, he's in trouble. She's got her hands on her hips and everything. The spring in the doggo's step dies, and instead he's reduced to a guilty, sad limp as he goes up to her. "What's this about you causing a racket? And with a strange dog, no less. You know better!" Riona's not sure what to make of the other mabari; right now, she's more confused as to where her husband is. Surely he has something to do with this. "Alistair!" Her voice rings down the hall. "Who's this other dog? Did Atroma gift you a mabari? Why are they running amok?"
no subject
If only Empress Celene could see him now.
As soon as he hears Riona's voice, Alistair is trotting haphazardly through the ship to find her. Tail stump wagging, tongue hanging out of the side of his face, it's obvious that he is as happy to see her as Kiter is. When she starts yelling at his furry companion, Alistair lets out a small whine until she calls out his name.
To which he gives a happy bark in reply.
Hi wife!
no subject
"Yes, hello, I see you. I'm looking for the man who I'm sure bears some responsibility for your being here. Go fetch him for me, will you?"
no subject
How can she not recognize him? Guess it'll be time for a divorce when he manages to get back to being a human. If the Atroma let that happen. Except, she's really pretty...
He headbutts her and sniffs her hand. Hey, Riona, pet him.
no subject
Kiter barks in affirmation.
"Go get him then, will you?"
Don't worry, Alistair. Kiter has your back. The mabari trots up next to Alistair, nudging him, then looking at Riona.
His mistress sighs. "Kiter, would you please go get Alistair? Then you can play with your friend here."
Kiter barks sharply once, then nudges Alistair again before looking pointedly at Riona again.
And the realization will kick in in 3.... 2.....1-
Riona's mouth drops in a gasp. She looks at the other dog more closely. She should have recognized those eyes... "...Alistair? is that you?"
no subject
Alistair whines when he sees how distressed Riona is, headbutting her legs and letting his stumpy tail wag. It's not like he asked for this, but he's going to make the best of a bad situation. And that means that right now he needs to comfort his wife.
He barks in response at her question, headbutting her again. Perhaps a bit too much, but it's hard to tell when you're on four legs, okay?!

SS Iskaulit - Mountain Grove
"Wow. You are bigger than I am. That's kinda scary and cool all at once." She smiled at the pup and crouched down to see if wanted another friend.
Freya never knew how dogs would react to the fact that she smelled like a wolf.
no subject
Since Alistair has no idea what wolves actually smell like as a dog, he's fine with approaching her cautiously. He knows that mabari are big dogs, even if he and Kiter are smaller than they would be on Thedas.
As she approaches him, he holds very still. He's friendly, but he doesn't want her to think he's going to attack either. When she puts out a hand, he sniffs delicately before licking her hand.
Hi, friend.
no subject
It wasn't really the dogs fault. Big people made her jumpy too.
All nervousness and fear slipped away as the long scratchy tongue lathered spit along the front of her hand. Freya laughed and reached forward to pet the large Mabari behind his ears while pressing her forehead affectionately against his. "You are nice! And here I was worried." She backed up and glanced around them but she didn't see anything that'd pass as an easy stick to throw around.
Oh well.
"Do you want to play? You're so handsome, you know that don't you?" Dog or human, Freya enjoyed tossing around compliments when she thought it was deserved. She didn't know what kind of dog he was but he really was pretty…. Also pretty daunting but she was focusing on that cute goofy smile of his.
no subject
But he's pleased to see that the girl is ready to relax and talk to him after he licks her hand. She has a nice laugh. Not as nice as another certain lady's but he's biased, whether a dog or a human.
When she asks if he wants to play, he lets out a loud bark, his nubby tail flailing back and forth in excitement. Yes, of course he wants to play. As for handsome, well.... that's something he'll have to take her word on. He's never been vain, even if he's made comments in jest to the same effect.
no subject
"Got it!" She smiled down at the large dog like form. "Ready? Fetch is the most fun ever."
Freya waved the stick a little and then got ready to throw it. "You are going to go get it right? I spent a good two minutes finding this stick. I'm emotionally attached to it and would like you to bring it back." Only after it seemed like he understood the game would Freya throw the stick. She threw it a little too hard, using a little more than human strength to give it a good distance for the dog to run.
no subject
Throw. The. Stick.
When it's sailing through the air, he kicks off after it. Enough that dirt and grass comes flying as he runs after it. She might be stronger than most humans, but he doesn't care. Playing Fetch is his new favorite game right now.

Iskaulit - Mountain Grove
HELLO THERE. WHERE IS YOUR MASTER?
no subject
And, the clean mountain area is really the best place to be. It's open and spacious and now that the cranky little ghost is no longer running around, it's quiet and abuse-free. When he hears footsteps approaching, he stops and tilts his head, pointed ears perked to pick up any sound. He is rewarded by a... person (doesn't smell like a person) in a robe coming close and kneeling. He smells something and then hears the familiar sound of purring. He owns a cat...even if Doglord's a snow leopard and not a house cat.
At the question, Alistair tips his head to the other side and gives a low 'wuff'. Excuse you. He is his own master.]
no subject
ARE YOU BESPELLED? YOU'RE SHAPED LIKE A DOG, BUT I DO NOT BELIEVE YOU TRULY ARE ONE.
[From inside the hood comes a little 'meow'. A kitten pokes her head out and stares down at the dog with a leveled expression.]
no subject
At the question, Alistair lays down and covers his eyes with his paws. Nope, he's a human. The Atroma are just jerks.]
no subject
SURELY IT CANNOT BE THAT BAD? YOU SEEM TO HAVE RETAINED YOUR INTELLIGENCE AND ABILITY TO GO BETWEEN SHIPS.
no subject
He whines pathetically. Do you know what it's like to not be able to comfort your wife? It sucks. Because dogs can only do so much, tasty-smelling friend with the cat.]

SS Iskaulit - Pool
He even thinks he's found a time when the pool in otherwise unoccupied to duck in, change, and crutch his way over to the ladder. But sometime between stripping out of his clothing, taking off his leg, and getting over to the side of the pool, he notices that there's a dog loitering around. A dog that is admittedly jacked, but at least looks friendly. He pauses, then has a seat on the edge of the pool, putting his crutches to the ground and giving a short look-here whistle.
They don't have strays that he knows of. It has to be someone's dog, right?]
Hey boy. C'mere.
no subject
Doors when you don't have opposable thumbs are the worst.
When he smells the human over the sharp, bitter smell of the chlorine in the pool, he stops before jumping in the water and watches. He can see that there's something wrong with him, but it's not like he can go up and ask him. Even if he wanted to.
The man calls out to him, and Alistair answers by barking and launching his bulky form into the water, making huge waves as he starts to swim his way over to the other side. It takes no time to reach him and Alistair barks again.
Hi.]
iskaulit - grove
But he's not used to spotting wildlife. An animal moving catches his eye immediately, though he relaxes-- mostly-- when he realizes it's a dog. Maybe someone's got a pet?
What the hell, why not. He whistles, quick and sharp, mostly to see if it notices. ]
no subject
And he knows that in his current state, Riona is rather distressed. Plus, he can't do his job like he normally would. So, the Iskaulit is a perfect sort of compromise. Besides, it's nice here.
He smells the other person when they come to the mountain, but he's not about to butt into someone else's alone time with what little nature there is to find. But, you know, a whistle is an invitation to be nosy, right? So, he's going to be careful as he approaches, but he does still come closer.]
no subject
Seems likely enough that someone would have a pet. ]
Hey, boy, [ he calls out, quiet and encouraging, holding out a hand, cautious but confident. Too bad he hasn't got anything to feed it. ]
no subject
The Atroma are assholes.]
Woof. [He comes over and sniffs the other man's hand. There's something laidback about him that is encouraging. But the lack of treats is a bit of a letdown.]
no subject
Good boy. [ Doesn't really matter what he says, he figures, might as well be nonsense. But Daryl's good with animals-- tone soothing and his movements slow as he goes to scratch behind the dog's ears. Kind of funny-looking but maybe it's an alien dog?
The hell does he know. ]
Can't be much to chase around here, yeah?
