So, a certain idol had a birthday on the 17th, but she never really keeps track of it. Sadly, it's left up to the likes of Kaname to make sure that someone knows how old the other members of Walküre are. As such, now that they're in the new system, plans have been made, things done, people invited via word of mouth.

Anyone who wants to wish Mikumo a Happy Birthday should come to the Melting Pot on the Iskaulit at 7pm tonight. Oh yeah.

[Messer is staring down at the finished cake, his expression judgmental and vaguely doubtful. It looks fine, in theory. Appetizing, even. The icing is beautifully glazed and it's a nice colour, good and squishy to the touch.

But what looms beneath the fluffy brown coating...]

I have some concerns about the eggs you gave me.

[This cake is going to taste like fish, isn't it.]

[Kaname's over setting up some plates when Messer speaks, causing her to look over with slight concern. Why bring it up now of all times?]

They seemed to work well enough, didn't they?

I'm having second thoughts.

[You trust that friend of yours who got them, right? Because he hasn't checked the guy out yet properly, and seriously the eggs had tinier eggs inside them, it's a caviar cake.]

[She's a little wary now, but not enough to stop.]

It's a little late now. We might just have to hope for the best. But I've got faith in your abilities.

[Counter that fact, Messer.]

I suppose it matters very little as long as Mikumo approves.

[And she likes seafood, apparently, so maybe if any fishy taste lingers it'll just mean she approves of it more.]

[Grinning, Kaname tosses him a roll of streamers.]

[He catches it deftly, tugging loose a length of it and twisting it around with some string. He's a tall guy, might as well be useful for something other than cake.]

Would you have preferred this sort of event for your birthday?

[Because the thought just occurred to him and he is nooooot qualified to pull off a big party.]

[The question actually has her stop what she's doing and look at him, startled.]

What? [What he'd done for her was lovely and perfect in their own unique way. She looks at him like he's being silly.]

If there were more than just the two of us from home, possibly, but what you did was wonderful. Don't start doubting that now.

[It hadn't been his intention to shock her like that, so he frowns and shakes his head.]

It wasn't so much doubting as- I know you were happy with it. But a good thing can be made better if it's coupled with something you prefer.

[If she doesn't want any parties, though, that's fine by him. He'd be terrible at throwing one himself.]
