[When Cassandra wakes, she goes from sound asleep to alert in just a matter of a couple of seconds. She's out of bed immediately with a reflexive reach for weapons that aren't there. Naturally, this merits a frustrated growl, but no matter. She doesn't need a sword or shield to do some damage if she must to get out of...wherever this place is.]

[She scans the room with a little more scrutiny with a scowl before she notices the communicator and picks it up. Enjoy your new view of the ceiling, network, while she looks the device over in her hands because she doesn't understand why she has some vague sense of familiarity with it without ever having seen it before in her life. It's at least something to take her mind off the fact she has absolutely no idea how she got here in the first place.]

Is fine, Cullen.

[She's not gentle in saying this, but she uses a firm tone to put whatever worst case scenarios might have been going through his mind to rest. The Inquisitor is alive and well, and there is no other alternative, no other possible outcome.]

[The relief is clear on his face, and then he just looks... like he can't believe it. But he's glad, so very glad, to hear it.

He actually laughs. For... a few moments, here.]

[She allows him the moment, even looking away some to give him at least a small semblance of privacy. She also doesn't know what to do with that because Cullen and the Inquisitor always kept their relationship fairly private and she wasn't about to comment on it. Though don't think she didn't notice you two sneaking off early from the party, mister. You're just lucky she's not Leliana or Josie and about to tease you for it.]

What is you last remember then, if not that?

We'd just returned from Adamant. The Inquisitor had just made it out of the Fade once more.

[He sounds... lighter, almost, when he speaks. He can't believe it. It's possible that in some timeline they fail, that she dies or they all die, but he has to believe this is the truth. That this is his.]

That was quite some time ago now for me. [Not something she wants to think on too deeply either. She's tried writing what happened down and, when time allowed, continued to do so. But it's one thing to chronicle an experience and another thing to remember for only yourself.] I'm glad then that I was able to deliver the news of our victory.

As am I. You'll soon come to see that most of us aren't from such a time.

And what time would that be?

Some come from before the Chantry exploded in Kirkwall, some directly after. Many don't know of the Inquisition, some have a different Inquisitor entirely.

[She heaves a sigh.]

A mess, in other words.

[But things haven't exactly been straightforward and simple for a while now. Looking at it that way makes it seem a little...less than what it is. Manageable.]

[And maybe what's not important right now either. There would be time to sort all of that out later.]

How are you holding up?

[She trusts Cullen that he's holding up fine. He looks fine. It's hard to tell beyond that through the communicator. But she did make a promise. Maker only knows how long she hasn't been keeping that promise since he arrived here before her.]
