at least she didn't set the ships on fire
Who: Lup & OTA
Broadcast: Yes
Action: SS Heron, SS First Breath (a bit), Planetside
When: today & throughout the event
( a; arrival on the Heron )
[Lup's arrival on the bridge, confetti and all, is as much a shock to her as anyone else who might witness it. For a moment, she's just quietly stunned.
And then she lets out the loudest WHOOP her lungs can muster and goes through the very strange process of experiencing the ship:
1) she does, like, seven cartwheels in every hallway
2) she just starts touching stuff. walls, consoles, cupboards, furniture. life is so tactile!
3) she finds an actual real live person and grabs their hand immediately to shake
4) she flops dramatically on the nearest bed or couch, regardless of whose it is
She does every single one of these with a huge, shit-eating grin on her face. She has a body again! Holy shit, it feels amazing! It's time to party.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS ARE GREAT, RIGHT]
( b; First Breath )
[Her time on the First Breath is brief, and she tries to time it in a way that Taako won't be around for it, but that doesn't meant that other residents won't spot an elf sort of sneaking around the kitchen and down the hall one day. Catch her, if you can! Those who have already met Taako might notice that she looks exactly like him.
She'll be leaving a fancy new wooden spoon behind in one of the kitchen drawers before she goes.]
( c; text & voice broadcast )
this is a test, looking for some intel. I need to know two things:
1) when you read or hear these words, can you understand it, or is it just static?
2) if you experience static, is it every word, or just some?
GRAND RELIC. BUREAU OF BALANCE. PHOENIX FIRE GAUNTLET. VOIDFISH.
IPRE. LIGHT OF CREATION. HANGING ARCANEUM. THE HUNGER.
GREG FUCKING GRIMALDIS.
[She repeats the full message verbally, and then, after a pause-]
Sorry for the noise if all you get is static, spaceballs. I'm just trying to do some science.
[Weirdly enough none of that should be static for anyone- except for 1 specific person, of course. Sorry Taako.]
( d; planetside )
[Lup's priorities are thus: 1) scrap the heck out of everything useful that she can get her hands on, and 2) FIGHT ALL OF THE THINGS.
She can be found digging her way through piles of metal and parts, elbows deep into whatever might be useful. She won't touch the piles that look like actual garbage, but appliances, vehicles, decor and kitchenware- she's all in. Even if something looks broken, she gives it a considering look before adding it to her "keep" pile; after all, magic powers can fix a lot of broken stuff. Want to come and help with the dumpster diving? She seems to be an old pro at this.
She can also be found signing up for as many gambling arena tournaments as she has time and spell slots for, both the solo fights and the partnered ones, or just fighting against monsters. Are you joining the fight, too? Because she's looking for a good, tough-looking (or at least deceptively strong) scrapper to join her! Let's go punch some aliens! She's been isolated for far too long, and she's eager to give her long-dormant power a solid test-drive.]

And like, I'm not gonna pry, that'd be rude, especially since you just got here! But, I can show you how to lock conversations and shit, if you want. It's not always completely foolproof, but it's good enough usually? [ You can pretty much hear the shrug in his voice. ]
Oh, and welcome to the fleet, by the way. Name's Eithan. What's yours?
no subject
[And she is! Mostly. Better than being stuck inside the umbrella like she is back home.]
no subject
[ Insert some instructions here, fuck, idk, handwaving is fun ]
So try lockin' this thread to just me? Make sure it works?
locked...?
[CRACKS KNUCKLES
She's a fast learner, and he'd given her instructions right there, so the lock is mostly functional, if unrefined, by the time she has it set up. Not the most secure ever, but it'll do in a pinch.]
How's that?
locked!!
[ Aaand... there it is! Nice. ]
Hey, perfect! Awesome. Oh, uh, dunno what ship you're on, but if you've got a comms officer on board, they can help lock it up even more. Not sure how that works, but Atroma's full of weird, arbitrary rules that they break later, so whatever.
no subject
[The idea was to lock it from Taako, specifically, and she figures he hasn't had anyone teach him how to hack yet, so no big deal.]
Thanks for showing me.
no subject
[ He tries, anyway. Results may vary. Anyway~ ]
Yeah, no problem! Anytime. [ Beat. ... And then you can practically hear the fangish li'l grin in his tone~ ]
Okay, so I know I said I'm not gonna pry, but I gotta admit, I'm pretty curious about at least two of those things you mentioned. And I'm totally serious, you don't have to tell me if you don't wanna, I'll absolutely drop it, but! .... Can I please ask like two questions?
no subject
You can ask as many question as you want, my dude, I've got nothing better to do today.
no subject
Sweet. You rock.
So what's a Phoenix Fire Gauntlet? That sounds pretty intense. But also potentially awesome - though that's probably just 'cause I'm biased.
no subject
Cut right to the heart of it, huh. There's a long pause, and for a while she considers just... not answering. But she needs allies here, and you don't make any by being an asshole. Not his fault that he doesn't know.
When she's finally able to speak, her voice is quiet, carrying a decade-old sadness.]
In theory, it was supposed to be. An incredibly powerful magical glove, capable of creating a massive amount of fire damage out of nothing. It was too powerful, though. It decimated entire cities, battlefields... not even the wielder would survive. There's nothing awesome about it.
no subject
He immediately feels guilty for asking. Sure, he had no idea it could've been something like that, but he still hates that he essentially made her think about it. He's a lot quieter when he speaks again, too. ]
Yeah, no, that's... not awesome at all. ... I'm sorry. [ For asking, for the fact that she had to experience all that... both. ]
'S it at least not a threat anymore?
no subject
[RIP Phandalin, the last city to fall.]
no subject
[ "Supposedly." Yikes. But he'll hope for the best. ]
Sorry for hittin' somethin' like that on a first question. I owe you one. ... If I haven't gotten my question privileges revoked, can I try again? -- Or, hell, you can ask me somethin'. Whatever you want. No limits.
[ As if she'd want to. ... also as if he wouldn't answer anyway, but still. ]
no subject
But okay, my turn- why so much interest in the fire gauntlet? You said something about bias?
no subject
I mean, that, and the name does sound really badass.
no subject
[There's a lot she might have done differently, given the chance, but the name isn't one of them. That's all she's prepared to say on the matter.]
So you call 'em mages where you're from? I guess that makes us birds of a feather, sorta. I'm an evocation wizard- fire and making shit go boom is my jam, too.
[And it's a subject she's far more at ease discussing than the gauntlet.]
no subject
[ He's grinning - which you can't see, but enh, it's pretty evident in his tone. ]
Yeah, where I'm from, anyone who can use any kind of magic is a mage. Wizards are people trainin' in the Order, and they've got their own ranks and shit. I'm technically a wizard, but... seems like in the Fleet it's just easier to say "mage" and be done with it. World differences, and all.
Evocation, though - so, can you call up other elements too? Or just fire?

Components, though... hopefully there's some comparable stuff on the planets we get to. Wouldn't want you to have to go without makin' any magic for too long!
no subject
I'm not too worried about that. Because of my speciality, a big chunk of my good spells don't actually require components, and a lot of the rest have easy materials to find. Considering we're in a literal junkyard of a planet, I'll be collecting as many as I can while we're here, and that ought to keep me covered.

[ Magic nerd, ahoy. ]

Hah, no contest. Gotta go with Meteor Swarm on that one. That sucker can turn a whole field into a giant, fiery rock explosion from a mile away. Hurts like a sumbitch.
[It was probably the basis for the Phoenix Fire Gauntlet, if she's being honest, but even the devastation the relic brought upon the world can't kill her love for the spell. It's just so, so good.]
