[ loki is no stranger to space ships. though the kind of ships asgard uses are quite different in nature, he's read enough to be familiar with the make and feel of this one. he quietly turns on the recording device, squinting at it. very primitive but it'll have to do. he straightens himself, as befitting a prince, quiet and somber despite the nervousness. ]

Greetings. I am Prince Loki of Asgard. I wish to know about my whereabouts and swift return to Asgard. My father will not be pleased.

[ a pause as loki thinks of what else to add before pulling out a large knife he stole from the kitchens. ]

Also I have a knife.

[And there's the question. The one that Taako doesn't have an answer to that will be satisfactory to either Loki or himself. He could be glib here like he always is, say something about how he doesn't need to belong because he's above and beyond others.

But he could also be honest. He doesn't know where he belongs except where he's ended up; and he has no idea how long that last. He thought the cooking show would be his place, his mark upon world, somewhere he could carve a chunk out for himself.

And then Glamor Springs and Sazed happened.

And he'd gone back to zero.

Taako eyes Loki for a moment, weighing the options in his head. Would he remember what Taako said when he "grew up" again? Would it give Loki an edge over Taako more than he had over the god having met his child self?

He decided and shrugged.]

I don't. [And he'll do whatever it takes to make sure it looks like that doesn't bother him.]

Wherever I am at the moment, that's where I'll be until I find something it somewhere else. Why do you care so much about it though? You have a family and a kingdom, don't you?

Yeah . . .

[ loki shrugs. it's not a movement that seems normal on him, though his older self has done it thousands of times. ]

That's why I know it's important.

[Taako waves a hand dismissively.]

Then you shouldn't be so worried about it. Songs and old books aren't going to tell me where I belong.

[Nor would a bracer and some people he's starting to care about. They're not here anymore and he can't use the bracer to call for a pick-up pod, so it's basically just junk on his wrist at this point. He tries not to let it bother him, but he wonders - did they even notice he was gone?]

[ but it worries him all the same. because loki has always been like that, even before the truth. he never fully felt like he fit in and he couldn't tell if he was imagining it or not.

the truth, of course, was far worse. ]

Yeah, I guess so. It's not a big deal.

[Taako has spent nearly his entire life coming to terms with never belonging anywhere. He's come to terms with the lie he tells himself.]

And if it doesn't work out? Just find somewhere else. It sucks to start from zero, but it's not impossible.

I don't want to be anywhere else but Asgard. It's my home.

[He can't even remember what "home" was like anymore. Things get fuzzy after a hundred years.]

Well, then maybe you'll be lucky and never have to leave. [He shrugs, but something about how Loki carries himself in the future says that isn't likely.]

[ loki's never been that lucky. ]

Yeah. Asgard's eternal anyway. I don't have to leave.

Lucky indeed.

[Or not. Knowing that something is there and not being able to get back to it can be worse than not having it at all.]

Well! Not an issue as you'll never have to worry about it, hm?

[ loki frowns before nodding. ]

I'm not worried.

[Somehow, Taako doubts that, but sure, little dude, you believe what you need to believe. Even if Loki is a god(ling), he's still a child and far be it from Taako to destroy the innocence of children. He might tease and mock and do a lot of things to them, but he won't hurt them - not like that.]

Good. Because I'm afraid to inform you that, while I'm sure they're out looking for you, you're stuck in this hellhole until whenever this [He gestures at the world around them] ends.

[ he nods. ]

It's okay. They'll find me.

[Mm. Hm. Sure. Good optimism on him at least.]

Yeah it's the retrieval that's going to be a problem, kiddo. Odin or no, it's not easy breaking into another reality. You might be here for a lot longer than you expect.

I'm from a place called Faerun - regular ol' planet with lots of cities and some oceans and none of these mysterious beings beaming us up into space and holding people captive for entertainment. Normal and boring.

[ hmm. loki absorbs this. ]

I think there are worlds that do this, though. They take people.

Then I'm sure the Atroma are glad they're not the only shitheads in the multiverse.

[He does the most unenthusiastic jazzhands on the planet.]

[ loki shrugs. ]

There is always something we do not know. Even for Gods.

[It's weird to him to think of gods as not being semi-omniscient at the very least, but then he's only ever dealt with one or two. Pan, who always seemed to have an eye on Merle, and Istus who literally reknit the fabric of reality for them just recently. He knows the Raven Queen is out there, too, but he's never met her. If she has any sort of style like Kravitz though, Taako has a feeling he'll both like her and be pants-shittingly terrified of her.]

Yeah, I noticed. Don't get me wrong, but I always thought gods wouldn't get themselves kidnapped by mysterious sinister characters for the funsies.

[ loki doesn't say anything about that, oddly quiet as if there are depths there that no one can fully pierce. then he shrugs, child-like. ]

We are Gods. But we are other things as well.

So what other things are you, hm?

[Because he can't lead in with something like that and not deliver with an explanation.]

[ loki blinks owlishly. ]

I don't know. That sort of knowledge comes when we fully come of age.

Taako lets out an exasperated sigh and a heavy shrug.]
