Where Trash World Rules Are Concerned

Who: Ulaz and YOU!
Broadcast: N/A
Action: various
When: Anytime while in system

Option 1: Scrapheap
[Ulaz could be found a lot of the time at the piles of junk on this planet. With so many projects to work on and a big one being Shiro's arm so that he didn't have that problem anymore, he needed a lot of supplies. Luckily he was a big guy and not likely prone to people trying to take things from him.

It seemed to be a worth while endeavor at least. He was finding a lot of things that he could use]

Option 2: Blameless
[Some of Ulaz's supplies from scavenging were squirreled away in his room because he didn't want to leave them out. Some, however, had been temporarily moved to the lounge space on the Blameless whenever he found himself with a moment.

From previous discussions with Death over on the Caprine, he had decided to try his hand at building something for Loyalty, Justice's cat. He had taken some time during the drift to read up on the tiny felines - especially since one kept coming in trying to chew on things in his lab - and he was prepared to try a solution that might keep her mildly distracted.

So he was currently seated on the floor of the lounge trying to put together pieces to make something of a "cat tree". There were also length of rope next to him and what must have been once some carpeting, but he wasn't ready for those yet.

Help him? Hinder him? Keep him company while he works? Your call!]

Option 3: Junker Racing
[He had mentioned it to only a few people since he had been here, but Ulaz had, in his youth, been quite a daredevil. Most however, didn't really know that.

But in the course of his investigations of the planet, he found the junker racing. Ah... youth. But he couldn't seem to tear himself away from watching it...]

Closed to Lyall: Arena
[He couldn't quite be sure how of their frequent conversations circled around to it, but it had. Probably the arena had come up somewhere along the line and it had sparked the conversation. Seemed the most likely.

Ulaz had been curious for sometime about the actual physical capabilities of a werewolf, but wasn't sure if it was polite to ask a gentleman when they tried to maintain a certain air eighty-night percent of the time.

Lyall was apparently frustrated after his glitch, as beat up as he had been. Understandable.

So it had been decided they were going to face off in the arena. It was not the venue Ulaz would have thought Lyall would pick, but who was he to complain. It had intrigued him too much to worry about it for too long.

Here they were, in the arena. Ulaz could have worn his full armor, but he had decided to keep it more fair, only the suit he worry under it. It was the most superficial of protection. But it wasn't a slight against what he thought Lyall could do; the tradition of palen bol meant Galra were notorious gluttons for pain, seeing it as an opportunity for growth. He did however have one of his swords. He didn't intend to use it, but if found he did, he'd have it]

Whenever you are ready.

[Lyall would have the first move]

[Oh, the cat. Is that a thing to worry about? Is that why he keeps finding fur in the paneling?

He shrugs and waves Ulaz off as he starts to get up.]

There's no reason to concern yourself, I'm not in need of serious medical attention. I can tend to it myself.

[Y'all are such damn workaholics.]

I was just going to tell you ahead of time in case you noticed missing supplies later.
vartex: axiality (you give me a reason to live)

You look as if you're busy. I don't see the need to interrupt for non-critical injuries. If someone sought me out to get me to flush their latrine, it would be just as absurd.

[The maintenance position is kind of dumb and he does it but he will literally never be a janitor for lazy people.]

[Messer relaxes a little, half-sitting on the arm of the ratty lounge couch.]

I did. They have a sort of mecha suit that I wanted to try piloting.

Nothing at all like what I'm used to working with.

[Which is... well, let's just say he's doing his best not to sound disappointed. It's more or less what he'd expected, but he still misses his Siegfried.]

It's preferable over nothing, and functional enough. I may look into collecting one for myself before we leave here.

Not large by any means- they hold a person but little else, and their mobility is sub-par. They're similar to older transport mechs that haven't been in use for decades where I come from.

I've had the same experience. Still, these were clearly designed for small-scale combat: functional, but they would perform poorly in a skirmish.
vartex: (you give love a bad name)

[personal profile] vartex 2018-10-30 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
It's not just that. If the mobility was sufficient, it wouldn't be so bad, but I found it sluggish, and occasionally unresponsive. There's a lag between when I move and it moves, so reaction time is too unforgiving for dangerous combat.

[Playing around in an arena for money is different from the life-and-death of war and real combat.]
vartex: axiality (this emptiness never ends)

[personal profile] vartex 2018-10-31 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
That was my thought, yes. Even if I could give it additional limited mobility, I could find a use for it.

If I'm able to obtain one, I'll show you. Or you could just visit the local arena that utilizes them in battle and see them for yourself.

[He is absolutely going to try and get one, though.]

Of course, you're welcome to examine it. It wouldn't fit anywhere but the cargo area, so it'll be in a public area of the ship regardless.
vartex: axiality (that intense gaze of yours)

[...oof. Just trying to imagine it makes him almost grimace.]

I doubt it would even get through the door.
vartex: (my wings are broken)

[personal profile] vartex 2018-11-05 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Considering we barely fit through most doors around here...

[Ulaz moreso than him, but they're both pretty tall, and these ships weren't really built for giants. Sometimes ducking is involved; he can't imagine tromping around in a big metal suit through these halls.]
