Where Trash World Rules Are Concerned
Who: Ulaz and YOU!
Broadcast: N/A
Action: various
When: Anytime while in system
Option 1: Scrapheap
[Ulaz could be found a lot of the time at the piles of junk on this planet. With so many projects to work on and a big one being Shiro's arm so that he didn't have that problem anymore, he needed a lot of supplies. Luckily he was a big guy and not likely prone to people trying to take things from him.
It seemed to be a worth while endeavor at least. He was finding a lot of things that he could use]
Option 2: Blameless
[Some of Ulaz's supplies from scavenging were squirreled away in his room because he didn't want to leave them out. Some, however, had been temporarily moved to the lounge space on the Blameless whenever he found himself with a moment.
From previous discussions with Death over on the Caprine, he had decided to try his hand at building something for Loyalty, Justice's cat. He had taken some time during the drift to read up on the tiny felines - especially since one kept coming in trying to chew on things in his lab - and he was prepared to try a solution that might keep her mildly distracted.
So he was currently seated on the floor of the lounge trying to put together pieces to make something of a "cat tree". There were also length of rope next to him and what must have been once some carpeting, but he wasn't ready for those yet.
Help him? Hinder him? Keep him company while he works? Your call!]
Option 3: Junker Racing
[He had mentioned it to only a few people since he had been here, but Ulaz had, in his youth, been quite a daredevil. Most however, didn't really know that.
But in the course of his investigations of the planet, he found the junker racing. Ah... youth. But he couldn't seem to tear himself away from watching it...]
Closed to Lyall: Arena
[He couldn't quite be sure how of their frequent conversations circled around to it, but it had. Probably the arena had come up somewhere along the line and it had sparked the conversation. Seemed the most likely.
Ulaz had been curious for sometime about the actual physical capabilities of a werewolf, but wasn't sure if it was polite to ask a gentleman when they tried to maintain a certain air eighty-night percent of the time.
Lyall was apparently frustrated after his glitch, as beat up as he had been. Understandable.
So it had been decided they were going to face off in the arena. It was not the venue Ulaz would have thought Lyall would pick, but who was he to complain. It had intrigued him too much to worry about it for too long.
Here they were, in the arena. Ulaz could have worn his full armor, but he had decided to keep it more fair, only the suit he worry under it. It was the most superficial of protection. But it wasn't a slight against what he thought Lyall could do; the tradition of palen bol meant Galra were notorious gluttons for pain, seeing it as an opportunity for growth. He did however have one of his swords. He didn't intend to use it, but if found he did, he'd have it]
Whenever you are ready.
[Lyall would have the first move]

Closed to Lyall: Arena
[He couldn't quite be sure how of their frequent conversations circled around to it, but it had. Probably the arena had come up somewhere along the line and it had sparked the conversation. Seemed the most likely.
Ulaz had been curious for sometime about the actual physical capabilities of a werewolf, but wasn't sure if it was polite to ask a gentleman when they tried to maintain a certain air eighty-night percent of the time.

Whenever you are ready.
[Lyall would have the first move]

But he has been strumming with nervous energy ever since the glitch. The wounds are gone, and he has been acting normal enough, but it feels like this needs some sort of closure for his brain to finally leave him in peace about the whole thing.
At least, this is with someone he knows and actually trusts, and not throwing fisticuffs with a random stranger like he has seen some people do. He knows Ulaz will be civilized about it afterwards, and will stop if Lyall decides he's had enough.
Unlike his opponent, Lyall is dressed... pretty much the same way he normally is, with his suit and waistcoat and cravat. Between that and the difference in their sizes, they make an almost comical pair.
That being said, Lyall has always been a careful fighter. That is partly why he has stayed alive so long. He other part is that he is, actually, pretty damn strong, and also extremely fast.
He starts by circling from a reasonable distance... and then gives a burst of speed, bringing him right next to Ulaz, and because of his smaller size, it's easy enough to go and duck under the Galra's guard and aim a fist at his midsection.
Maybe Ulaz might end up wishing he'd worn some armor at least.]
no subject
Shiro might not approve of this method either, but Ulaz was no stranger to the idea of having to move to get out frustrations and aggression. Punching bags or targets that couldn't fight back only went so far so having someone willing to go at it with was significantly better.
Besides, it is his job to help look after the well being of the Blameless crew. If having only-vaguely-friendly sparring match will help Lyall's emotional state, then that is his job.
Probably is an odd look to this: Lyall still in his full attire. Again, doesn't make much difference to Ulaz. With no other information, he already knows Lyall's advantage is going to be height. He's a bigger target and has to move further for the same strike.
Ulaz watches, keeping his gaze trained on Lyall even as he circles. The movement is quick and he really only has the chance to twist slightly to redirect where he is hit even only slightly. Yep, Lyall is fast and Ulaz can confirm for a fact now he is strong, but undeterred, Ulaz uses the momentum to swing around and aim a kick to Lyall's shoulder]
no subject
Lyall was fast earlier but not at full speed. he was still testing the waters. yet Ulaz managed to move slightly out of the way and not take the full brunt of the blow. Fast reflexes on this size too, in spite of the bigger and more imposing stature. Looks like speed will work, but only if Lyall keeps it unpredictable because his opponent is fast too and if he gets caught, then it will be harder for him to actually escape or evade.
As the kick comes for him, Lyall just ducks to the ground, crouching almost on all fours, and then tries to put some distance between them again. not easy when moving backwards, but he feels like he shouldn't turn his back on Ulaz even if to escape. Too many risks of getting the tail end of one of those too long limbs.]
no subject
Maybe that was a trainer thing and not wanting younger ones to underestimate him or an opponent's willingness to take a shot when they weren't looking.
Lyall easily dodged the kick. Even if Ulaz had changed the direction of kick, Lyall almost crouching on all fours was too low of a redirect. That would have thrown him off balance which would have taken precious seconds to recover from. He's not going to take it easy on Lyall, following as the werewolf tried to put distance between the two of them, taking another swing at him, this time punching out. Because it was a friendly fight in the end, he wasn't aiming for his face at least]

That said, even with people having all kinds of projects in this system, finding the lounge with such weird parts comes to him as a surprise. It's something he would expect from Pidge, not Ulaz.]
Ulaz...? What exactly are you trying to build here?
no subject
He glanced up at Shiro as he walked in]
I am working on something that may mitigate Loyalty's chewing on inappropriate objects. A "cat tree" I believe they call it.
no subject
Justice should've taught her better by now... but yeah, a cat tree will probably help. Where do you get the idea from?
[Because he doubts Galra have "cat trees".
...or do they?
Is why Keith was so angry when he was younger, did he need something to scratch?]

She comes in with her tail held high, sniffing curiously at the tools and items strewn around and making sure to rub herself up against Ulaz in the most distracting manner. Why should he work on whatever he's working on when he can pet her?
And of course, where Loyalty goes, Justice is usually quick to follow, as he comes into the lounge to frown at the project.]
What is this?
no subject
And of course, Justice was not far behind]
I had an interesting conversation with Death recently. [Only in the Fleet...] Talking about animals. We had the idea that something like this might keep Loyalty entertained. A "cat tree" they call it.
Still a work in progress.
no subject
Justice, on the other hand, gives a thoughtful frown, though it's soft around the edges. It's kind of Ulaz to go through the trouble to make something nice for Loyalty, and it hasn't escaped Justice's notice how nice Ulaz is to Loyalty despite her frequent attempts to destroy his machines.] A cat tree. What is this cat tree?

Lyall doesn't seem to find anything odd with this, and he's kept on with his duties, and his usual wandering on the ship and he doesn't seem overly concerned with it at all.
When he stumbles on Ulaz, he stops in his tracks and cocks his head to the side.]
What a peculiar contraption? What purpose does it serve?
no subject
But neither Lyall or Biffy seemed particularly bothered by it... As long as it didn't interfere with the running of the ship.
He looks up as Lyall walks in wondering at the object that he is building]
Once it is is finished, it will be for the cat. Death and I were discussing animals in the fleet and we both came to the conclusion it is probably boredom causing Loyalty to chew. I believe it was called a "cat tree". Gives the cat entertainment and a perch so they can watch things. One of the books I read said cats like to be up high and I realized there is no where for her to do that.
no subject
Hmmm... it's true that a space ship does not really have spaces to climb. Has she ever been taken down to any of the planets, or is there a chance she might run away if taken outside?
[Loyalty is not a wolf or a dog, but maybe if she could stretch her legs more, she'd be too tired to chew cables.]

Of course, that didn't mean Keith couldn't still find a crew and go racing, right? Right.
So, he was exploring the area, checking out the racers and the crews, and- okay. Sure. He might have just gotten himself enrolled in a race. In fact, he name was on that roster Ulaz happened to be looking over. And there was still time to sign up with something if Ulaz was interested. Huh... what do you know?]
no subject
Ulaz stepped away from the sign, walking over to the paladin]
I see you are going to be racing.
no subject
Yeah. [He shrugged.] It's something I'm good at, I enjoy, and, here in the Fleet, it brings in the credits, so might as well.

It will eventually be a cat tree. With luck, it will be a distraction to keep Loyalty from chewing inappropriate things.
You are injured. [Not a question. A statement of fact. He's already setting his tools aside so he can get back up]
no subject
He shrugs and waves Ulaz off as he starts to get up.]

Allura may not be a "big guy" like Ulaz, but she's fiercely protective of her finds never the less. And she gives an excited squeak when she finds something at the top of another pile. ]
Ulaz! Come take a look at this.
no subject
He looks up hearing Allura call to him, without hesitation coming over and climbing up the pile in order to see what she was looking]
Did you find something of interest?
no subject
[ She's quite proud of this find too, and the reasons should be obvious. She's pulled it out from underneath some other debris, but what she reveals is an antiquated, but well-jointed arm, most likely used in some sort of automation manufacturing line. ]
It's old, but the base structure of these joints might be useful.

Indeed. Ingenuity does seem to triumph here.

Have you done much racing before?
