It's Party Time [ Open ]
Who: Jim Kirk & You!
Broadcast: Nope
Action: Yes, Planet-side @ Alloy Lake
When: Sometime in the evening
While it wasn't broadcasted, between how many people were told and the fact it wasn't exactly a private affair on a very public beach, anyone was welcome to come to this little shindig. Kirk's feelings were mostly that they all could use a break and a chance to relax together as friends, family, teammates, or any other word you chose to assign to the relationships you had on the Fleet. It was a nice break from working in projects too. It was nice to have something to occupy yourself in a creative and useful way, but it was always a good idea to take a break and refresh the brain now and then.
Which was how he came to the idea of a party on Alloy Lake.
He scouted a scrap of land near the water to set up on - beach towels, a cooler with drinks, a mocked up grill to cook some food. He went out later in the afternoon to start with more than enough light to enjoy some swimming, though it would be dark soon enough for certain members to join without being uncomfortable. At which point, a bonfire was built. What? A lack of sunlight is never a reason to stop partying! Especially not with such good company.
[ ooc: It's a party on the beach! Make your own starters and have some fun! There's drinks - alcoholic and non - food, a couple of games or make your own, a bonfire later in the night with of course means some kind of smore, swimming, and more. In terms of invite, you can assume you were directly told by Kirk, or told by someone else, or the grapevine. It's open to all, so don't worry to much about it. Have fun! ]

He grabs a plate and starts piling the raw meat on it, and absentmindedly takes a small piece for himself to chew on on as he makes two plates, one for Biffy and one for himself.]
no subject
It's...not cooked...yet.
[His voice is soft with a sweetness to it. Almost shy really. He doesn't want to stop the man obviously but he just wants to make sure he knows the meat isn't cooked yet. Just...in case.
He's just trying to help.]
no subject
Lyall looks down at his plate of food.]
That's alright. I cannot eat it when it's cooked. I need it to be raw.
[And he'll go and chew on another piece for good measure.]
no subject
And then he holds the plate of raw meat out to him.
Here. He'll make sure he gets plenty in that case.]
no subject
[What a nice, well-behaved young man.]
I do not believe we have met before? I am Randolph Lyall, from the Blameless.
no subject
[He almost leaves it at that before he remembers that the man said more to him.]
The Heron. I'm...new.
no subject
[And he does regular rounds so he can scout out new people and put them on his mental map.]
Welcome to you. Are some of your crew members here as well?
A[And do they know you are eating half the buffet on your own? Come to think of it, does Kirk know?]
no subject
Ah. Mm.
[He looks and sees Lup. Over with Taako. Wow they really do look a lot alike...
He points to her. That's one of his crew mates.]
no subject
Do you know Captain Kirk, then?
no subject
He pauses to look around and see if he can find him. Which should be interesting because as the dim lighting illuminates his mask, Lyall will see that the eye holes are actually painted on. They're not real.]
no subject
Does the mask have a specific purpose? I have never seen any like that, and it doesn't appear to have holes for the eyes?
no subject
Ah.]
It protected people from my eyes. Kept them safe.
[A pause.]
I can control it now. But this was...
[He looks down and his voice drops a little.]
It was Ao's mask.
[By his tone this means Ao was someone precious to him once.]
no subject
A dear friend, I suppose?
and, pardon me, but.... you eyes?
no subject
[Slowly, he sets his food aside and then lifts a hand to his mask. Lifting it off his face, he opens his eyes and looks at the man before him.
They're beautiful, almost breathtaking to look at. Golden jewels with slits for pupils instead of circles.]
Before I could control it...they...they could hurt those who looked at them.
no subject
And while that is a rather strange story, after coming here it's better to take those at face value first.]
That must have been difficult for you.
[And from the past tense, he can infer...]
It looks they raised a fine young man. Although... ere you really planning to eat of this?
no subject
It is the life of the Seiryuu.
[Basically it's fine. He's used to it.]
...yes?
[Why wouldn't he eat all the food on his place? Never mind the fact that it looks like enough to feed four people and then some.]
no subject
And that... was not quite the answer he was expecting.]
That's... a lot of food, and there needs to be enough for everybody. If you eat all of this yourself, maybe some people will end up not having any and being hungry.
Unless you were planning to bring back some more afterwards?
[Maybe that was it...?]
no subject
[He looks like he hadn't considered that. And now he looks at the food and then his own food.
And then he carefully starts putting it back where he got it.]
...I...don't want anyone else to know how it feels. To go hungry.
no subject
[That would certainly explain a certain compulsion to eat as much as possible, especially when free food is available.]
You can still eat something. Just make sure there is enough left for others, and it will be fine.
I could help you to gather a more reasonable portion, maybe.
[He can even make it werewolf-sized so that it's a bit more than a normal one.]
no subject
[It honestly isn't but it's clear that Shin-Ah doesn't recognize that. That people being so scared that they wouldn't forget to feed him would be a bad thing. He's just too kind to realize such a thing.
Instead he looks to the other man then softly says:]
...Thank you.
[He'd appreciate the help.]
no subject
So he fixes a plate with approximately the amount of food he would have given to Conall Maccon. Still quite big, but a bit more reasonably sized.]
Start with this first. And if you're still hungry after that, we'll see about how to replenish things on the buffet for others as well.
no subject
This is what happens when you do something so nice for someone who spent years getting nothing.]
...Thank you.
[A pause.]
I can get more food. If we run out.
no subject
And you should take your time to eat and chew well.
[He's not sure he's doing this right. Biffy has always been the one more on hand with the whole parenting thing with Robin.]
no subject
[He looks down at his food and takes a bite and tries chewing slower. Since the man told him to and all that.
He really is trying. It's more just that he's never had anyone to teach him any of this until...right now.]
no subject
Lyall is going to help himself to some of his raw meat while he's there, because that's what he came here for in the first place.]
Good. Just eat a bit more slowly andyou might feel less hungry as well.
