It's Party Time [ Open ]

While it wasn't broadcasted, between how many people were told and the fact it wasn't exactly a private affair on a very public beach, anyone was welcome to come to this little shindig. Kirk's feelings were mostly that they all could use a break and a chance to relax together as friends, family, teammates, or any other word you chose to assign to the relationships you had on the Fleet. It was a nice break from working in projects too. It was nice to have something to occupy yourself in a creative and useful way, but it was always a good idea to take a break and refresh the brain now and then.

Which was how he came to the idea of a party on Alloy Lake.

He scouted a scrap of land near the water to set up on - beach towels, a cooler with drinks, a mocked up grill to cook some food. He went out later in the afternoon to start with more than enough light to enjoy some swimming, though it would be dark soon enough for certain members to join without being uncomfortable. At which point, a bonfire was built. What? A lack of sunlight is never a reason to stop partying! Especially not with such good company.

_{[ ooc: It's a party on the beach! Make your own starters and have some fun! There's drinks - alcoholic and non - food, a couple of games or make your own, a bonfire later in the night with of course means some kind of smore, swimming, and more. In terms of invite, you can assume you were directly told by Kirk, or told by someone else, or the grapevine. It's open to all, so don't worry to much about it. Have fun! ]}

Daytime
_{[ The water may be green but honestly? He's swam in weirder. Fallen in weirder too. And hey, it was technically safe to swim in, just not to drink. If nothing else the water gorgeous, shimmering like emeralds and jade and topaz depending on the angle. He catches himself admiring it from time to time - when he's not swimming in it.

If he yelps once or twice, it's only because the water is cold and not because he's scared of something nibbling his toes.

He manages to scrounge up the materials to make a make-shift volleyball net and the ball to match. And he's quite competitive too. Sorry friends. He won't be going easy on you - which means no apologies when he spikes.

And don't forget the food! What's a beach party without the grill? Trick question, it's not a party. At least this planet had a good selection of food product - enough that he could flip proper burgers. Come and enjoy (and maybe kiss the cook). ]}

Nightfall
_{[ He had his fill of swimming for the day, and with the air chiller with the loss of its star, he tossed on a sweater, which may or may not have done anything since he was still only in those tiny boy-short style swim shorts beneath. The bonfire helped. Thankfully, this junk heap of a planet had plenty of acceptably flammable material.

He could be found sitting around the fire, drinking a beer, munching on smores or some other fire-side snack. He's happy to chat, sing a song, or play some more games. Much later in the evening he'll leave the fire and walk along the shore. He won't say no to company though. ]}

[Of course the werewolves only appeared when it was nighttime. And when they got into swimwear, it was very clearly period swimwear, the kind they are used to. To be honest, Lyall is a bit flabbergasted by how much skin everyone is showing especially the ladies. It all does seem quite improper. But it is not his party, and not his planet, and not his place to chastise ladies on their attire although he most definitely exchanges looks with Biffy and some antics make him raise his eyebrows quite high.

of course, it's easy to spot someone walking in the dark for a werewolf. And even easier to sneak up on them.]

You will catch your death wearing only this.

[Of course, Lyall is still only wearing his swimwear, but he's a wolf. he wears clothing because that is how things are done in society, not to feel warm.]

_{[ Kirk twitched when Lyall spoke, not from displeasure but only
surprise. Damn the werewolves were sneaky. His beer dangled from his
fingers, jacket open and loose and hitting just around his hips. And yet he
was still wearing less than some of the ladies. ]}

Just needed to cool off.

_{[ He tilted his head up and jerked his chin towards the sky. ]}

Do a little bit of stargazing from this point of view.

_{[ He sipped his beer and gave Lyall more of his full attention. ]}

Enjoying yourselves? Was there even such a thing as a beach party in your era?

[Crowley's avoided the planet as much as he can. Nothing about it even remotely appeals to him, but Kirk is something like a friend, and he supposes if he wants to spread a little chaos about, a party is just about the best place to do that.

That's what he thought until he got here, anyway. He's remained standing, with a glass of wine and a grimace on his face. A grimace that doesn't go away when Kirk shows up.]

This place is a sty. I think half of you will get tetanus just by breathing the air.

[Biffy is one of the ones who shows up in the evening. Unlike all of the other impressive amounts of exposed flesh, his own is covered up by a Victorian style swimsuit. He may be more used to being naked now but that hardly means he can't be proper about this.

Of course that does mean that he is sure to be casually glancing at all of the fine male bodies around since they're so readily on display. Look, he may be engaged to his mate but that doesn't mean he doesn't have eyes. He can see how nice all of you men look here. Please don't mind him at all.

Anyway, he'll help himself to some meat available and a drink while he enjoys the night air and tries to pretend he can't still easily smell the trash part of this planet.

So come say hello to your resident salon owner, everyone.]

[Honestly Shin-Ah was on the planet looking for stuff for Lup when he sees the party going on from a distance. And by distance what that really means is that he was so far out of sight no one knew he could see them starting. All the same, he's curious enough about it that he wanders over to see what is going on.

He probably stands out a lot at this party. What with the mask and the fur and the being far too overly dressed that he looks like maybe it's winter. It could also be the fact that he's ended up near the food and is just shoveling it into his mouth like he hasn't had anything since the day he was born.

Just please keep him away from the alcohol. Please.]

_{[ Parties are made for a chaos, and Kirk would have welcomed it, honestly. So long as no one got hurt, of course. It was meant to be fun, not traumatizing.

He snorted at the complaint. ]}

You really think the main concern is tetanus? Where's your imagination, Negative Nancy?

[Ah, of course. To Lyall, this is just his usual scenery - maybe the stars themselves are not familiar but he normally goes about his business during the night, so it's not as much a wonder to him as it is for most living people.]

I ... do not believe there was anything quite of the kind, no. People go to the beach in summer, or for medical or sports reason, but it rarely involves a whole day affair with food and alcoholic drinks or people quite so scantily clad.

[Because you are almost naked, young man. Lyall doesn't mind, but really now, since when do people who are not werewolves and thus do not need to forego clothes on a regular basis bathe almost in the nude?]

[The truth is, both werewolves have roaming eyes here, although Lyall's involve some more blushing and embarrassment because there are ladies there and some of them are barely wearing anything in front of complete strangers.]

This... appears to be a common type of gathering amongst young people in the future.

[With alcohol and no chaperones, if you can believe that.]

_{[ He laughed at the last part, turning to fully face him; having the good grace to keep the jacket on - which didn't help on the nudity front hardly at all, but it was something. ]}

We used to do gatherings like this once in a while, back at the Academy - ah, that is, the school you had to go through to get into Star Fleet back in my home world. Take a break from exams and classes and the rule of the day.

[Well, that person definitely looks a little strange. He's not half-naked to start with, and he looks like he's ravenously hungry with how much food he's eating in one go... but well, it's not Lyall's party, so he's not going to police that beyond checking there's still some raw meat there... yes.

He grabs a plate and starts piling the raw meat on it, and absentmindedly takes a small piece for himself to chew on on as he makes two plates, one for Biffy and one for himself.]

[The jacket... really didn't help much, but Kirk is a man, and in Lyall's time, as unfortunate as some people may find it to be, it gave one much greater liberty to do what they wanted with their bodies. Plus, there was the whole matter of being a werewolf and thus make nudity being very much a constant in Lyall's life. Not to mention something he can appreciate.

So it wasn't really the swimshorts themselves he disapproved of, even if they were skimpy. However...]

You really need to wear deeper blues. That color has too many yellow undertones, it clashes with your complexion.

... Did you do this with all the ladies and no chaperones?

[That sounded like a great way to make many parents of his knowledge get the vapors.]

Daytime
[Hell yeah, beach party. It might be a trash beach and a trash planet, but the beautiful color of the water was distracting enough to pull the attention away from the rest of this disaster world. Also, the company was good and-- Oh gods, someone else was in charge of the food. Taako really wanted to take over, but since it wasn't his job? He was going to let it be.

Besides, he had something more pressing to do - sunbathing. Taako has a towel spread out at one of the prime locales to overlook the water and he's sunning himself in a pair of blue swim trunks and an orange crocheted cardigan folded up next to him. He's got a pair of sunglasses on and a drink in one hand. When he notices someone move by him, either just passing by or standing at his side, he lowers his sunglasses.]

Can I help you or are you just enjoying the view?

Nighttime
[With the sun gone and the bonfire going, Taako's changed and wearing something more normal for him. He still has his swim trunks on and the orange cardigan, but beneath that he wears a flowing blouse to keep the chill off. It helps that the bonfire is so nice and warm. He's not exactly in the midst of the party, but he's there, watching everyone have fun. It's so strange, watching everyone just enjoy themselves like they aren't all millions of miles from home.

Unpleasant thoughts keep invading when he's alone and he closes his eyes. Maybe this party just needs a little entertainment to keep him preoccupied. He jumps up from his seat and then goes toward the end of the area they're on. Why not light up the night with a little fireworks? Harmless illusions, but he sets the night sky alight with multi-colored fireworks, sparklers, and lights.]

It does. The future is quite...liberating.

[He is carefully avoiding looking at the ladies out of politeness even while he is very much enjoying the view of the...

He stops.

And sighs.]

Those colors? Really?

[Anyone with eyes can see he means Kirk.]

[Shin-Ah pauses when he sees the meat there. Watches the man eat it and even prepare another plate. Oh. Maybe...maybe he doesn't know? That it's not...]

It's...not cooked...yet.

[His voice is soft with a sweetness to it. Almost shy really. He doesn't want to stop the man obviously but he just wants to make sure he knows the meat isn't cooked yet. Just...in case.

He's just trying to help.]

I have plenty of concerns, that's the first one that came to mind. This place is disgusting, and I'll be glad when we move off from it.

[Lyall follows Biffy's gaze and shakes his head, echoing Biffy's sighs.]

I told him the yellow undertones were doing nothing good to his complexion, but he is stubborn.

[Really Kirk's fashion is not completely disastrous, but he just seems to have the strangest notions about colors.]

[It's lucky for him werewolves have extremely sensitive hearing, and Lyall turns to the ... young man? It sounded like a young man even though it's hard to say with the mask... and to be honest his smell is quite peculiar too.

Lyall looks down at his plate of food.]

That's alright. I cannot eat it when it's cooked. I need it to be raw.

[And he'll go and chew on another piece for good measure.]

[He can appreciate a good party when there's one around, so Taako is down for this beach/lake party even if the water is a bit too cold to go in. Instead, he gravitated toward the fire and the smell of cooking food.

Which is where he finds Jim Kirk and smiles, one hand holding a drink, the other on his hip.]

No burning of the jumpsuit yet, hm?

[He's never heard of that before but he has no reason to not believe him. So he just quickly reaches over to shift food around until he can bring out more of the meat. He knows where it is. He can see it.

And then he holds the plate of raw meat out to him.

Here. He'll make sure he gets plenty in that case.]

One would never realize I did, in fact, take him shopping for proper clothes.

[Honestly. It's ridiculous.]

He does persist with some astonishingly surprising choices.

[And really, when Biffy takes you shopping and takes the pain of educating you on fashion, you should listen and apply.]

I don't know what his problem is with wearing colors that are actually flattering on him.

[Oh, perfect timing. While he's distracted by talking to some rando passing him on the sand, Lup has the chance to Mage Hand a little bucket of water behind him and dump it over his head.]

[He'd been having a nice day today. If things had stayed that course it could have been a good day.

But then Lup happened and a bucket of water was dropped on his head.

Taako leapt up from his towel and whipped around, looking for where that came from as he wiped water from his eyes. ]
