While it wasn't broadcasted, between how many people were told and the fact it wasn't exactly a private affair on a very public beach, anyone was welcome to come to this little shindig. Kirk's feelings were mostly that they all could use a break and a chance to relax together as friends, family, teammates, or any other word you chose to assign to the relationships you had on the Fleet. It was a nice break from working in projects too. It was nice to have something to occupy yourself in a creative and useful way, but it was always a good idea to take a break and refresh the brain now and then.

Which was how he came to the idea of a party on Alloy Lake.

He scouted a scrap of land near the water to set up on - beach towels, a cooler with drinks, a mocked up grill to cook some food. He went out later in the afternoon to start with more than enough light to enjoy some swimming, though it would be dark soon enough for certain members to join without being uncomfortable. At which point, a bonfire was built. What? A lack of sunlight is never a reason to stop partying! Especially not with such good company.

[Biffy is one of the ones who shows up in the evening. Unlike all of the other impressive amounts of exposed flesh, his own is covered up by a Victorian style swimsuit. He may be more used to being naked now but that hardly means he can't be proper about this.

Of course that does mean that he is sure to be casually glancing at all of the fine male bodies around since they're so readily on display. Look, he may be engaged to his mate but that doesn't mean he doesn't have eyes. He can see how nice all of you men look here. Please don't mind him at all.

Anyway, he'll help himself to some meat available and a drink while he enjoys the night air and tries to pretend he can't still easily smell the trash part of this planet.

[The truth is, both werewolves have roaming eyes here, although Lyall's involve some more blushing and embarrassment because there are ladies there and some of them are barely wearing anything in front of complete strangers.]

This... appears to be a common type of gathering amongst young people in the future.

[He is carefully avoiding looking at the ladies out of politeness even while he is very much enjoying the view of the...

Those colors? Really?

[Anyone with eyes can see he means Kirk.]

[Lyall follows Biffy's gaze and shakes his head, echoing Biffy's sighs.]

I told him the yellow undertones were doing nothing good to his complexion, but he is stubborn.

[Really Kirk's fashion is not completely disastrous, but he just seems to have the strangest notions about colors.]

One would never realize I did, in fact, take him shopping for proper clothes.

[Honestly. It's ridiculous.]

He does persist with some astonishingly surprising choices.

[And really, when Biffy takes you shopping and takes the pain of educating you on fashion, you should listen and apply.]

I don't know what his problem is with wearing colors that are actually flattering on him.

I haven't a clue. He seems to really not care that he could increase his appeal exponentially with the right attire.

[He sighs. So heavily.]

It's almost painfully astounding how little he cares.

[There had to be a point where even Biffy would throw the towel and let things go, but somehow, Lyall doesn't quite believe he will this time, because he too, doesn't really get why Kirk only seems to choose clothes that don't make him look particularly good.]

As strange as it sounds, some people do wear the first thing they find in their closet in the morning. I thought he was a bit receptive since he agreed to go shopping with you, but he still has a lot to learn.

Of course not. He is, after all, wearing all the clothes that I got him. This is his first mistake since we had that shopping trip. Which means he can be trained.

[Biffy is very pleased with what he's accomplished with Kirk so far. Of course he's not giving up on him.]

One can hardly break a habit right away. It takes time and effort for that.

[He expected as much.]

Are you planning on going swimming?

[Lyall can swim quite well, but he's not much of a fan of it.]

Absolutely not. I have no desire to smell like water associated with this planet.

[His nose wrinkles briefly to show what he thinks of this planet. Surprise, surprise...his reviews are not positive.]

Well, it is true that the scent is rather... pungent.

The ball games are rather easy to play.

I had noticed the ball games looked simple enough. I was never much for them in life but I suppose I could try one of them tonight.

Really now. What on earth would make you think werewolves don't swim?

Surely there were better choices in color for that tiny bit of cloth you're wearing?

I wasn't sure how prevalent teaching someone to swim was in your era.

I very much appreciate it. There is quite the show here that I'm appreciating. After all, I am far from blind. It is simply that after I took you shopping I would have thought you would have picked something equally as revealing but with more appealing colors.

[Look. That's really what he's miffed about. That he made the effort to help your style and this is what they're back to. It's just...unfortunate.]

Anyway, this is an exact replica of what men wear for going to the beach in my time. We actually made swimming a sport quite recently.

It’s not like I threw out the closet full of clothes we bought. I wear the things you suggested. But a swimsuit wasn’t among those items and I happen to like this one. It fits, it looks good on me, and so far I haven’t come across another I like, color not withstanding.

I was more partial to fencing honestly. Also, I have no desire to swim in any water associated with this planet. It just seemed appropriate to dress for the occasion.

I have not for quite some time. I had other matters I had to attend to. Honestly I don't even have a sword here.

I mean, you can find practically anything on this planet. I'm sure you could find yourself a fencing foil or a rapier if you wanted. I think Looma has a forge? She could probably make you one if you brought her the materials, though I think she'd have thoughts on how delicate the blade looked.

With that said, are you interested in seeing me fence or fencing with me? Is that what has inspired this interest?

Both? I’ve been taking lessons with Kogarasumaru in that regard. I was attempting to learn back home too, from one of my crewman. It would be nice to potentially have a partner who isn’t my teacher.
