It's Party Time [ Open ]

Who: Jim Kirk & You!
Broadcast: Nope
Action: Yes, Planet-side @ Alloy Lake
When: Sometime in the evening

While it wasn't broadcasted, between how many people were told and the fact it wasn't exactly a private affair on a very public beach, anyone was welcome to come to this little shindig. Kirk's feelings were mostly that they all could use a break and a chance to relax together as friends, family, teammates, or any other word you chose to assign to the relationships you had on the Fleet. It was a nice break from working in projects too. It was nice to have something to occupy yourself in a creative and useful way, but it was always a good idea to take a break and refresh the brain now and then.

Which was how he came to the idea of a party on Alloy Lake.

He scouted a scrap of land near the water to set up on - beach towels, a cooler with drinks, a mocked up grill to cook some food. He went out later in the afternoon to start with more than enough light to enjoy some swimming, though it would be dark soon enough for certain members to join without being uncomfortable. At which point, a bonfire was built. What? A lack of sunlight is never a reason to stop partying! Especially not with such good company.

[ ooc: It's a party on the beach! Make your own starters and have some fun! There's drinks - alcoholic and non - food, a couple of games or make your own, a bonfire later in the night with of course means some kind of smore, swimming, and more. In terms of invite, you can assume you were directly told by Kirk, or told by someone else, or the grapevine. It's open to all, so don't worry to much about it. Have fun! ]

[His eyebrows shoot up in exaggerated surprise.]

You aren't going to argue that such an outlook is sad and pessimistic?

[personal profile] straightouttacarbonite 2018-11-04 04:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure there's a difference between pessimistic and realistic.
candothat: ((-.-))

[personal profile] candothat 2018-11-04 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Pessimism would be assuming that all systems are hostile and the ones that seem peaceful are just bad at trying to kill us.
straightouttacarbonite: (040)

[personal profile] straightouttacarbonite 2018-11-06 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Either way, if you don't get killed, you're pleasantly surprised.
candothat: ((ノ^_^)ノ)

[personal profile] candothat 2018-11-09 02:05 am (UTC)(link)
I admit that I generally expect to not be actually killed. Unforgivably optimistic of me, I know.

I mean, it looks like it's working for you so far.

For the most part. [Except for that one time when it didn't, but there's a thing to never talk about.] You, I would guess, are a realist. Sensible, and probably not surprised often.

Something like that.

[ he... thinks? Who knows. Apparently he's going to be a rebel in a few years. ]

So far it's worked out.
candothat: ((ʃƪ˘・ᴗ・˘))

[personal profile] candothat 2018-11-11 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
You are extremely agreeable. I'm going to begin suggesting increasingly ridiculous things until you disagree.

[He's joking (even though that will probably happen).]

What did you think when you found yourself here, in another universe, presumably on a show? Did that come as a surprise?
straightouttacarbonite: (028)

[personal profile] straightouttacarbonite 2018-11-12 01:22 am (UTC)(link)
I'm still not convinced I buy that they're making a holo. At least not one anyone watches. I guess I didn't believe it, but I'm pretty sure I'd've heard of someplace I recognized if this wasn't really a different galaxy.

[personal profile] candothat 2018-11-19 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
I'm not certain that I believe in the show aspect either. I have been in other places like this one and that was never a part of it.

But that we are in a different universe... I don't doubt that at all.
straightouttacarbonite: (014)

[personal profile] straightouttacarbonite 2018-11-20 01:00 am (UTC)(link)
A different galaxy at least. I dunno how much the difference even matters.

[ Either way, they're not getting home on their own power. ]
candothat: ((´꒳`∗))

[personal profile] candothat 2018-11-20 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
If we were to plan our own escape, the difference between going to another galaxy and going to another universe would be considerable!

[His enthusiasm is quick to die.]

Although escaping at all seems very unlikely, so maybe you're right. Maybe the difference is academic.

Yeah, without a real ship...

[ SIGH ]
candothat: (( •⌄• ू )✧)

[personal profile] candothat 2018-11-21 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
The Marsiva would do, I think... although I would much prefer a Constitution-class starship.

[He seconds that sigh!]
straightouttacarbonite: (030)

[personal profile] straightouttacarbonite 2018-11-22 11:30 am (UTC)(link)
I'd rather something a little smaller, but I wouldn't be too picky to fly that thing.
candothat: (( ゚Д゚))

[personal profile] candothat 2018-11-23 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
[This is probably the garbage-liquor talking, but...]

I wonder what would happen if we were to try. Not flying the Marsiva, I mean, but if we tried to leave in a ship that was unaffiliated with the Fleet.
straightouttacarbonite: (013)

[personal profile] straightouttacarbonite 2018-11-23 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you think they'd chase us down?

[ Would that even deter him, who knows. ]
candothat: (( x ~ x ))

[personal profile] candothat 2018-11-24 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe, or maybe they have the ability to teleport us back to the Fleet. Maybe the implants that they have put in our heads destroy us. Maybe our existence in this reality is dependent on our proximity to the Marsiva and we vanish if we leave.

[He has thought about this once or twice.]
straightouttacarbonite: (017)

[personal profile] straightouttacarbonite 2018-11-25 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
[ y i k e s . ]

That doesn't make it sound real appealing to try.
candothat: ((^_-))

[personal profile] candothat 2018-11-26 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
So, when I am prepared to assemble a crew, I should not ask you to join us?
straightouttacarbonite: (010)

[personal profile] straightouttacarbonite 2018-11-28 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't say that.
