It's Party Time [ Open ]
Who: Jim Kirk & You!
Broadcast: Nope
Action: Yes, Planet-side @ Alloy Lake
When: Sometime in the evening
While it wasn't broadcasted, between how many people were told and the fact it wasn't exactly a private affair on a very public beach, anyone was welcome to come to this little shindig. Kirk's feelings were mostly that they all could use a break and a chance to relax together as friends, family, teammates, or any other word you chose to assign to the relationships you had on the Fleet. It was a nice break from working in projects too. It was nice to have something to occupy yourself in a creative and useful way, but it was always a good idea to take a break and refresh the brain now and then.
Which was how he came to the idea of a party on Alloy Lake.
He scouted a scrap of land near the water to set up on - beach towels, a cooler with drinks, a mocked up grill to cook some food. He went out later in the afternoon to start with more than enough light to enjoy some swimming, though it would be dark soon enough for certain members to join without being uncomfortable. At which point, a bonfire was built. What? A lack of sunlight is never a reason to stop partying! Especially not with such good company.
[ ooc: It's a party on the beach! Make your own starters and have some fun! There's drinks - alcoholic and non - food, a couple of games or make your own, a bonfire later in the night with of course means some kind of smore, swimming, and more. In terms of invite, you can assume you were directly told by Kirk, or told by someone else, or the grapevine. It's open to all, so don't worry to much about it. Have fun! ]

[ He cocked his head as he thought about that a bit. ]
I'm not sure I could say they come at regular intervals, per say. But I personally start getting twitching after we've spent a few months of being quiet as one might say. It's nice, but I feel the longer we spend in the quiet, the bigger the storm when it comes around. Sometimes it's being attacked or finding ourselves in extremely dangerous situations. Other times it's just... disturbing. Or sad. Or both.
no subject
Sooooo...how long has it been since the quiet broke would you say?

[ Kirk looked at Taako. ]
Long enough you should start feeling twitchy.

[There's no real vitriol to his tone, and the exasperation in it isn't aimed at Kirk. The next world they go to might not be so exciting after all. The heads-up is nice to have, even if he'd prefer to just coast along without having to fear for his life again.]

It's a skill that comes and goes, unfortunately. You caught me on a bad day.
[ But he wasn't going to really apologize for it. He preferred giving it to someone straight rather than sugar coating, and seeing them end up temporarily dead because of it. Or worse. ]

[He gestures at himself and the lake - ignoring the faraway mountains of trash.]
no subject
Well, you haven't been here all day, which has been the real travesty all along.
[ Wink wink. ]

[There's the Jim he knows back in force. Taako grins and winks back at him, then decides to finally start in on the burger Jim made. It's actually not bad! He could get behind this full-time actually. His first burger and his first taco at the hands of a spaceship captain. This planet hasn't been a total loss.]

You aren't spitting it out or turning green, so I'm going to assume my burger passes?
no subject
But it could use a few other spices up in that seasoning before Taako served it.]
Mmhm~ My first time having one and I'm not gonna bite the hand that feeds me for free, so yep. I'll give it a pass. We eat with our eyes as much as our mouths and there's no better sight than what's right here.
[Might as well be shameless while he's at it.]
no subject
[ That earned Taako another laugh, waving his spatula at the other. ]
Shameless, but I'll take it. For a bachelor, that's about the highest praise I can naturally receive.
no subject
[Shame, that is. He's always shameless.]
I'm surprised though - no one's snatched you up yet? Or is it more of a "free bird" situation where you don't wanna be tied down?

I do have a lover here - Remy LeBeau. You’ve probably seen him around, he’s the red-head with really, really dark eyes and a Cajun accent, likes to throw in French here and there?
Anyways, we’ve been together a little over two years now, but it’s a kind of open situation. Not that I’m sleeping around, mind. But I had another here before - Fenris. He went home though. I was with both at the same time.
[ The mention of Fenris makes him sound wistful and a touch sad. He had cared for the elf very much, and hoped every day that wherever he was, he was happy. ]

There we go. I figured a guy like you wouldn't have a problem finding people to Fantasy Netflix and Chill with.
[Yes, that's a thing. Shh.....]
Haven't met your guy though. Must be too new still.

What's Fantasy Netflix and Chill mean?
[ It wasn't a phrase he was familiar with in his world. It had once existed, in a way, but at Kirk's point in history it had faded out of use and after a couple hundred years was archaic at best. ]
I'm sure you'll see him soon enough. He runs one of the bars on the Iskaulit now - red hair, and dark eyes. You'll know him when you see him.
[ As in he had black where there should be white. "Dark" indeed. ]
no subject
[Red hair and dark eyes, huh? He'll definitely have to keep an eye out, even if Taako isn't the sort to hang at the bars all that often. He usually grabs a bottle and is out the door when he needs a drink, and if he can handle the taste the curse leaves behind long enough to drink it.]
And if not, try me again for an explanation. It's a shame you don't got that in your world.

I'm sure he has some fancy French word for whatever we are, but boyfriend works, probably.
[ They didn't really have a label, per say. He had more or less confessed his feelings to Remy, that they went deeper than the casual fling it had all started out as, but they hadn't officially labeled themselves either. And that was okay. ]
It's why I spend my life exploring the universe. So I don't have to live with the regret of missing out on something as fantastic as Fantasy Netflix.

And here I thought exploring the stars might be for boring ol' science or something. You ever heard of Fantasy Costco? 'Cause that's where the good shit comes from.
